We were down Fort Lauderdale (Galt Ocean Mile) for a week's vacation in February 2009 and dined out a lot. This conveniently located eat-in deli was a great place for morning breakfast and lunch. It is under new management (less than a year). Thumann's quality deli meats served and on sale. Lots of menu choices plus daily specials including homemade entries. The Nova lox w/bagel and deli sandwiches were the best, even when compared to those delis around NYC/NJ metro area. During our several visits we had omlets, Texas size french toast, and pancakes with real natural casing sausage links. All were surperb and filling. They even had Taylor ham making great breakfast sandwiches. Orange juice tasted freshly squeezed. Espressos and cappuccinos were recently added. Friendly, upbeat, attentive, and accomodating staff. Clean with nice deli case display. Big HD flat screen TV. New pleasant paint scheme. New owner has been kicking this place up a few notches and seems genuinely concerned with customer satisfaction. This place can easily become habit forming!

Pros: Great tasting breakfasts and lunches. Fast service and personable staff.

Cons: Too crowded at times and unable to get right in.

I was recently in Fort Lauderdale for the weekend for a bit of relaxation and sun.I decide to try the East Side Deli for Breakfast on a Sunday. The service was horrible my companion and i sat there for 15 minutes without being acknowledged we were tehn asked by the bus boy who felt sorry for us if we wanted a coffee.Eventually the order was taken and when the food was brought out I had to wait another 10 minutes for syrup for my pancakes. All this hassle for a simple breakfast. The kicker to this complete disaster is that half way through my meal I found a long white hair in my food. The owner saw me pulling it and push my plate, she then came right over and said she would get me another which I refused and rightfully so.When it cane time to pay what transpired next was hard to "swallow " she said she was making me pay because she offered me something else I didnt want it.she started yelling over and over and then her obnoxious son jumped in and accused me of putting the hair in myself.I am 33 yrs old and do not have white hair.I was so humiliated and shocked that I was being treated that way in a place of business in which i was paying.I decided to just pay and be done with it.I went outside to find the hsband sitting there and he was just as rude as his other family members teling me to F off and continuing to berate me.Who does this family think they are, this is teh way business operates by treating their customers unfairly?I sincerely hope that no one will give them business to keep them afloat during the off season you cant run business that way and expect to stay open.I would not recommend anyone going there for mediocre food and just plain bad manners.

Pros: close to my condo

Cons: That I stepped foot in there
