Came across Guys & Dolls Hairkuts as I was searching for a deals on Keratin. I have very thick, dense, long hair and I was due for a keratin - something I treat myself to several times a year. Due to the amount of hair I have, I usually pay $400 -$500 at an upscale salon. When I saw the groupon for $99 keratin, I was on it. I immediately called and I guess it was the owner who answered the phone. He seemed pleasant enough as he asked me the usual questions. Then he asked about my hair - length, density and I was upfront with him. He wanted me to make sure to read the fine print on the deal..."Extra charge for long hair". I asked him how much it would be and I was told about $50. He explained to me that while most other salon who even offer a groupon use a lesser quality keratin, at Guys & Dolls they use the top-shelf product that costs them over $300/liter, so I understood why the charge was there. I asked him if it was possible to get a cut & color at the same time and the reply was 'absolutely'. The cut would be $35 and I would get a $10 discount on color. So I booked for everything and when the day came, I was placed with Silvana. Silvana is Brazilian and beautiful. What impressed me most was her meticulous approach to her work - even with the amount of hair I had, she took her time and did small sections and did not rush. I cannot remember the last time when I had a stylist who was not intimidated by my hair and who did not rush to get done. The results were amazing and when I went to work the next day, 3 co-workers immediately called Guys & Dolls to schedule appointments. I am a believer and a life-time client. I would follow Silvana anywhere in FL to have her do my hair. This hair salon in Fort Lauderdale gave me the best color & keratin I ever had and I strongly recommend.

I have been seeing the same stylist for over 10 years and when she moved away I felt a panic attack coming on like never before. Looking for a new stylist was one of those things I never considered during my decade here in Fort Lauderdale. I chose a 2-fold approach - asking my 5 closest friends about their salons and doing my research online for 5 additional salons. My plan was to go in unannounced and request a consultation. I wont mention the names of the 5 salons I went to before coming into Guys & Dolls... suffice it to say that when I entered G&D I was welcomed by the owner, offered a beverage, and told that someone would be with me shortly. He did ask if I preferred a male or female stylist, a very nice personal touch I thought. I asked for a male and was greeted by Michel within 4 minutes. He sat me down in his chair and I chatted with him like I have known him for years. The time flew by and I knew this was my place and he was my guy. He even wrote up my color card so that he could get to pick up where we left off when I came back. If I had been treated like this at any of the previous salons, I would have stopped looking. Then the craziest thing happened - as I went to the desk to schedule, the owner asked if I wanted to get it done that day, in an hour. I jumped on the opportunity, ran some errands, and was back for my appointment. My base color was modified and a combination of high & lowlights were done and a fantastic cut & style. I couldn't be happier. The entire staff was friendly, the salon was busy, very busy, but the flow went smoothly and I was glad to be part of this. The bill was reasonable and before I left I asked about a keratin treatment. The owner really surprised me when he informed me that they were in the middle of a groupon and that he would give me groupon pricing. I usually ay $350 and I was quoted $150. I really love this place - a hidden gem of a hair salon in Fort Lauderdale that I finally discovered.

You know what they say the definition of insanity is? Doing the same thing again and expecting a different result. I do consider myself sane, but when I look back on my actions concerning my hair, I was insane. For the last 18 months there has been a change in my stylist I have had for over 10 years. For whatever reason, she was either forgetful of my appointments or late. She always double-booked and I feel like I was no longer a priority - she took me (and my $50 tips) for granted. My highlights were sloppy and so was my cut, and I just had enough of this. I asked a friend where she went and was told Guys & Dolls. I then did my research and was impressed with the reviews. I was lucky enough to get Tory and it was like we were best friends after 15 minutes. She totally 'got me' and understood what I wanted and what I needed and she then gave it to me. The time went by so enjoybaly and I couldnt help notice how busy the place was and how happy BOTH the clients and staff were. The salon was clean, cool, and unlike any other hair salon I had been to. The owner told me it was a work in progress and in my opinion, it is a Picasso. It has been years since I felt so good about my hair and about myself. Recommend Guys & Dolls to all.

I am new to Fort Lauderdale from Cincinnati and had no one to ask about where to go for my hair color. I did not know any neighbors or anyone at work to ask, so with this being 2012, I went online for information. After a couple of minutes searching, I had narrowed my choices to 2 salons, Guys & Dolls and AFX. For whatever reason, I called AFX first and tried to explain my situation. The guy was very short with me and didnt seem to care - I just figured he did not want to make small talk, so I got to the point and tried to make an appointment. This was on a Tuesday and I was told that the only thing all week was Thursday at 3:45 Although it was not an ideal time for me, I was going to make it work because I needed color desparately. I then asked about pricing and the guy told me flat out ""Dont worry about prices honey, we'll work that out once you're here in the chair"". That remark was the straw that broke the camels back and I politely ended the conversation. The last thing I wanted was a $300 bill thrown at me after the fact, so I called Guys & Dolls. A guy answered the phone (he was the business owner I found out later) and he couldn't have been nicer. When I told him I would be new to the salon, he just stopped and said ""Welcome"" in the most inviting and sincere tone of voice. He asked how I found them and he asked me several other questions so he would be sure to give me the proepr amopunt of time and put me with a stylist he felt would be good for me. I told him the length of my hair, my color, what I wanted to do and he never cut me off or rushed me. I felt he genuinely cared about me and my hair and that he wanted to make sure he got it right. He asked if I had any other questions, so I figured let me ask the dreaded questions: price. He could not have been nicer - he told me that a colr touch-up was $50 and that highlights started at $65, with a full head of highlights at $125 for normal length hair. He even went on to tell me about the color line they use. And then he asked me where I would be coming from - he wanted to make sure I would not get lost finding them. Well, that was the icing on the cake and I was thrilled that they could take me the same day. It goes without saying that my visit lived up to my expectations. I was greeted by name when I arrived, offered a beverage, and was told my stylist would be right with me. As I was waiting, I couldnt help but notice the decor of the place - I wasnt sure if I was in my living room, an antique store, or a salon - whatever motif it was, it worked. I ended up getting a full head of highlights, color, and a cut. As I left, I lookd like the person I had wanted to look like my entire life - I was thrilled that Jonathan took some beofre & after photos of me - you would not belive it was the same person except for the same shirt in both shots. I am so hooked on this place and they have me for life... I almost hope I dont have to move again becasue I dont want to find another salon. Would recommend Guys & Dolls 100%.

I'm a guy with very simple hair cutting needs, but I also hate SuperCuts and all those other places, so I opted to go with Francisco based on a recommendation a couple of years ago. I've been going to him ever since, and won't go anywhere else. With most places, if you have a receding hairline or are going bald at ALL, the barber or stylist tries to cover it up or mask it for you, and 99% of the time in not a good way. I don't really care that I've got a bit of hair loss going on, as long as it looks good. Francisco understood exactly what I meant when I said this, and makes my head look as best as it can. The atmosphere of the shop is wicked laid back, and the music is always pretty good. I'm simple and easy and am really nervous at stylists and barbers and places like this, but this place puts me at ease more so than others. My girlfriend, on the other hand, has a head of hair like Robert Plant. curly, long, golden blond, and gorgeous. She has tried Francisco, Michel, Dawn, and Tory and she tells me that she does not have a favorite. When she calls for an appointment, all she cares about is making the time work BECAUSE it doesnt matter who does her hair. What does that tell you about the staff at Guys & Dolls? It tells me that the entire staff rocks. My hats off to Francisco & Jonathan for getting such a talented crew together and keeping them. In all my years with Francisco, I have never seen one of the stylists leave what does that tell you about Guys & Dolls? Must be a pretty damn good place to work it sure is a damn good salon to go to.\r\n

I lead a very busy life with little down time and for me to take what little spare time I have and use it to write about the service I received at a hair salon, then you had better believe is was either very good or horrible. Well, my time at Guys & Dolls was one of the greatest hair experiences I ever had. Like most other women who get their hair done professionally, it becomes part of your life - I mean every five weeks adds up to over 10 times a year - and how many friends or family do you really see that often? Especially when I am always making the trip, I mean its not like the stylist will come to me half the time. I think you get the point: your stylist becomes a very close & presonal person in your life, and I am not going to invest all that time and energy and money for a mediocre encounter.
I admired this gals hair at my gym for over a year before asking her where she went - you guessed it, Guys & Dolls. There must be over 200 salons between my house & Guys & Dolls, but I now make the trip regularly and I look forward to my time with Francisco. On my initial visit my roots were 5 inches and I wanted to be blonde with highlights. He spent 20 minutes consulting with me before we came up with a plan. He told me what to expect for results, what the maintainance would be, what products I would need,a dn what it would cost. AND, he delivered the goods as promised. I couldnt help but notice how busy the salon was and how well everyone got along. The clients were happy and it felt like everyone was one big happy family. The ambience was great - music, coffee, reading material - just a very CLEAN, comfortable place and my hair color is the best hair color I can remember. In fact, not to take away from the rest of the staff, everyone walking out looked like a model with such great, natural-looking hair. I will definitley recommend without hesitation.

Guys & Dolls is the ONLY place I will ever trust with my highlights! Dawn & Francisco & Michel arent just amazing professional hair stylists and colorists, They have also proven to be a good friends to all those who are lucky enough to experience Guys & Dolls. I found Guys & Dolls through CitySearch a couple of years ago, and over the years I have been lucky enough to try ALL of their stylists and even now that Ive moved to Tampa, I wont ever let anyone else touch my hair they ARE that brilliant, especially for difficult blondes like me!\r\n\r\nGuys & Dolls does THE BEST work creating multi-dimensional, long-lasting and natural-looking blonde highlights in Fort Lauderdale. In the many years Ive been in FL, Ive tried out most of the big-name hair salons imaginable, searching to recreate the healthy, natural-looking blonde of my youth from the bleach-out, sun/salt/chlorine damaged locks my active lifestyle created. With all the places I have tried, I never returned to the same place twice because I never got personal attention, I always paid way too much, and I always left with the same, generic blonde Do you seem to see on every soccer mom and street corner in Weston. So, to say I was a little disillusioned by the time I read Guys & Dolls reviews on CitySearch and made an appointment is an understatement. But, I was SO pleasantly surprised with the team at Guys & Dolls! \r\n\r\nFirst, they spend A LOT of time with each of their clients. My appointments tend run about 2 hours with rare overlap in appointments. Dawn & Francisco & Michel have never once been late or kept me waiting, or taken calls during our appointments, and Ive never ever felt rushed. \r\n\r\nSecond, the staff are color specialists. At your first appointment, you'll receive an assessment of the quality of your hair and what sort of cut/color youre looking for and will offer you advice about how to make that work with the shape of your face/features and your individual coloring/complexion. Then, you'll get advice about what color or combination of colors will work best with your unique skin and eye coloration. (They typically weave in 2-3 different color highlights into my hair, alternating every other appointment between highlights and lowlights.) \r\nThe result, for me, is that my hair looks healthier than it has in years (despite the damage I inflict upon it!), and I finally have my youthful blonde back. They've done such a tremendous job masking my dishwater blonde/brown locks that I keep receiving compliments on the cut/color even weeks after my appointments when I think the roots are starting to show. In fact, they do SUCH a tremendous job with my color and cut, that I dont even really have to come in to see him for touch ups that often maybe once every 2 months, since the highlights grow out so naturally. (Thats bad for him, but good for my pocketbook!) \r\n\r\nLastly, they are just a really decent human beings and a whole lot of fun to talk to during the appointments. You can tell that they have good relationships with everybody at the salon. Also, unlike a lot of other hair stylists out there (and again, I think Ive seen a lot of the best Fort Lauderdale has to offer!), they seem to really take pride in their profession and in getting to know their clients and helping them be their best selves. The entire team at Guys & Dolls have created such a welcoming, family environment, that I look forward to the drive out there and won't be seeing anyone else anytime soon.\r\nThank you, Dawn, Michel, & Francisco!\r\n

My entire life I like an edgy look. The gal who I was going to was not giving my hair the excitement that I wanted. Thinking of someone who has exciting hair brought me to my doctor's office manager and she recommended Guys & Dolls to me. Dawn was booked the day I chose and the owner encouraged me to try another stylist, promising that I will love it. I told Francisco that I wanted an edgy cut and a bright, fun color and shortly thereafter I had a beautiful head of coppery hair with slight accents of blond and red, and an equally brilliant cut to compliment the look. Ecstasy. Exciting. Envigorating. I felt like a canvas that Picasso & Rembrandt had collaborated on. I could not be happier. If you like being a trend-setter instead of a follower... if you want to be noticed (in a good way), and you want your hair to make a statement about your personality, come to this salon. I saw Dawn's client and it was another great job - crimson & black highlights. The staff is tight and they deliver the ""goods"". If you are thinking about trying Guys & Dolls, R*U*N, dont walk

I found this salon while I was searching for Schwarzkopf hair products. I was not even calling for an appointment - I only wanted shampoo, however, I enjoyed speaking with the owner (JT) so much, that when he inadvertently asked me if I was thrilled with my hair color and hair stylist - who I have been with for over 6 years - it made me think...I could NOT honestly answer 'yes'. The last few times I was at my old salon, things were different and my old stylist's work was not up to par. So I figured if Guys & Dolls carry Schwarzkopf products and had such a pleasant, direct, self-assured owner personally answering the phone, I would give them a chance. I checked out the web site and it was great - I got a good feel for who the staff are and what the place was like and decided it was a salon I would enjoy trying, so I booked my appointment (I did have to wait 3 weeks to get a Saturday appointment with Francisco). THE REASON FOR THIS REVIEW: As soon as I walked in the door, I was overwhelmed with the decor of the place - very eclectic and reminded me of home. They were playing SiriusXM Alt Nation (my fav) and I was greeted by JT. The assistant immediately welcomed me and offered me a beverage and I heard Francisco yell ""Jessie, get her ready for color"". I was given a clean gown to change into and led into the bathroom/changing room - very nice and CLEAN. I did make myself a cup of Barnies coffee and grab a magazine and I was enjoying watching the stylists work. It is so rare these days to see a group work together and get along so well - everyone was friendly and the place just had such a positive vibe going on.. I enjoyed being there and I felt like I was part of something. Needless to say that when all was said & done and the foils were removed and I was rinsed out, my hair was AWESOME - it came out better than I could have hoped for and I felt great. If I had felt this good after walking out of my old salon I would still be a client there - but this only re-affirms my decision to try Guys & Dolls. Had it not been for how direct, courteous, and knowledgeable JT was on my initial phone call this would have never happened - it just goes to show that you never know how things will work out. I recommend Guys & Dolls to all... JT & Francisco run a great shop and it shows in how busy the place is. Just a great place for hair color, highlights, and good coffee and music. And, I received no less than 4 compliments that afternoon while I was out doing errands :-).

I've known Sherry Benson for 30+ years and have had her style my hair for that length of time. She is an absolute professional and does a wonderful job. I look forward to my appointments with her-not only do I leave looking much better, but I enjoy my time with her. She's a gem and I treasure her.

I am new to Fort Lauderdale and the first thing on my 'To Do' list was to find a hair stylist. Although there was definitley a sense of urgency, I did not want to rush into anything and have regrets. So I did my due diligence and after an extensive online search I decided that Guys & Dolls would be the choice. They have a great web site and I really enjoyed those Before/After pics. The owner (Jonathan) answered and he patiently listened as I explained my situation. He seemed easy going and confident, and it was the way he told me that ""he is the luckiest owner around because he has 4 great colorists and he doesn't have to wrry whose chair I sit in"". Boy was he right. I was lucky enough to sit with Tory and she took my jet-black hair to a lovely brown with highlights and she explained the process and was honest about what could be done on the first visit. During my 150 minutes there, I saw the work of the rest of the staff and Jonathan was right... they are all great. The place was busy and lively and it ran smooth. I had a great experience and I let them add my pic to the album. Cannot wait to return.

My hair was a disaster after getting it cut at another joint. I should have done my homework. The place looks like an antique shop and you would never expect to receive a phenomenal haircut. In fact I was worried because it looks opposite of the high end salon and it has reasonable prices. Michelle gave me a consultation and then cut and styled my hair. I am forever amazed at how relaxed I felt and how the conversation was easy. I did not feel like my stylist was rushing through me... in fact he took the time to get to know me. My haircut is amazing. I never thought he could fix it as well as he did. My entire family will now be heading there. No other salon will ever get their hands on my hair again. Upon check out the owner was nice and welcoming and it seems like he knew all of the people in my network. I am now a loyal client... THANK YOU GUYS AND DOLLS!!!!!

I have lived in Fort Lauderdale for many years and up until this point there are 2 things that I had never done. First, I had never thought of my hair other than just being part of my face, like my nose.. it's there but it's not a big deal and surely nothing I can do anything about. I never went to a salon and I had maintained and cut it myself. I am 35 and have had the same basic hairstyle since I was a teenager. About a year ago I decided that I would make a donation to 'Locks of Love' and when I had the requisite 10-inches to spare I was ready to find a salon to go to. So I googled, I binged, I yelped, I yahoo'ed, and I searched citysearch. What I noticed was that there was one salon that consistently got top rank in the categories I searched and that salon was Guys & Dolls. So I went to the hairkuts dot com website and I actually found it to be quite interesting, informative, and FUN. The videos were great, the prices seemd fair, the staff looked normal and then I stumbled upon the Before & After pics. It was amazing to see these clients - these were REAL people, not some fancied-up models. I could not believe how good they looked in the After shots. Then, it was what happened next that pushed me to make an appointment... I actually saw someone I knew in a Before/After pic, and she looked damn good in the After shot. I called her up and she could not say enough great things about the salon & Francisco, so I booked my appointment. This leads me to the second thing that I had never done before in my life - I had never felt strongly enough to leave a review online for anything, until now.\nI called to schedule an appointment and I had to wait 2 weeks to get the time I wanted on a Saturday. When the day arrived, I got there 20 minutes early so I could take it all in... I actually felt like I had been there before from all the time I spent on there website. I was immediatley greeted and offered a beverage and then I just walked around taking in the visual overload. I mean between the furniture, pictures, artwork, jewelry - it was like being in a gallery. And the classic new-wave 80's music was great. I couldnt help but notice how busy the place was - it was VERY busy and the staff was working in sync like a fine Swiss watch - the flow of the clients was smooth. The people walking out looked gorgeous and I was very excited to finally be called and sat down in Francisco's chair. He greeted me with ""So what we gonna do with this hair of yours?"" He was even nicer in person than I imagined he would be from the videos. 35 minutes later I could not belive what Isaw in the mirror - it was like looking at a stranger (a beautiful stranger) and I was almost in tears of happiness. People who I had known for years and who never ever remarked about my appearance were raving about how great I looked with this new hairstyle AND IT FELT GREAT TO RECEIVE A COMPLIMENT. In fact, I scheduled an appointement for some color & highlights and I keep asking myself how I could have gone 35 years without ever makng any effort to have nice hair.. I feel like a new person and my confidence & self-esteem have never been so healthy. For those of you who are skeptical of what you read, take it from me - this place may not be fancy, but it is clean, fun, and the staff is top notch. My only regret other than that it took me so long to finally find Guys & Dolls, is that I would not let them take a before & after picture of me... it would have been dramatic, but now I have a new home and they have a client for life.

Just wanted to say that Guys and Dolls is an awsome salon! I was very unhappy with my hair as it was black from another local salon. I did not want black hair but they gave it to me anyway. I decided to do a search for color specialists to be able to change the color of my hair and found Guys and Dolls. Having numerous five star reviews on corrective color, I decided to give them a try. I spoke to Jonathan to get an appointment and he was so friendly and made me feel welcome. I had a consult with Tory who made me feel so comfortable with what she was going to do to get rid of this black hair! I trusted her and felt at ease because of her expertise, confidence and kindness. She did an amazing job with my hair. It looks 100% better!!! Believe me I was afraid to go anywhere after what I have been through with my hair, but I am writing to tell people that you can count on this place to do a beautiful job on your hair no matter what shape it is in!!!! Everyone in the place was so kind and friendly to me! Its a very comfortable atmosphere. I also met Francisco who was very informative on color and advice. For anyone who is skeptical like I was, this is the place for you. You will not regret it.

Once, maybe twice in your lifetime you may be fortunate and stumble upon an establishment that is so right in every way, that a smile, a hug, a thank you, a complement, a tip, just simply is not enough. I was there yesterday at Guys & Dolls Hairkuts.\n\nPrior to yesterday for me a visit to the salon was pretty much comparable to a visit to the dentist, a necessity, nothing more, and nothing less. Not any more, WOW.\n\nPride of ownership and love of your profession, what a breath of fresh air. Owner, manager, staff, preparing for clients, confirming appointments 60 to 45 minutes prior to opening. Mid day Saturday blossoming into a harmonious group of enormously talented professionals. OUTSTANDING.\n\nThe d

I saw them on the side of the road and thought their salon looked nice. I went on to their website and really liked what I saw. I contacted them on their website and they contacted me back right away. I had not had my hair done in 4 years and it was seriously damaged. I was really scared and I since I moved here I have not known where to go. They allowed me to come in the very next day. I met with the most amazing woman, Tori, she addressed my concerns and gave me her professional advice. It worked! My hair was so blonde that it normally would not have taken color at all but she made it happen and it didn't break my wallet. I am now a red head with beautiful blonde hi-lights and I never thought I would be able to do it with what I walked in with. They are the kindest people I have ever met at a salon. I was not judged and instead was cared for a loved from the very start. You are immediately greeted up front by absolute kindness and they serve coffee! I love this place and words can not express my gratitude!!!

My hair had been frazzled and fried and looked yellow from my last stylist and Tory knew just what to do! : ) I know have beautifully toned down blonde and after seeing me last night, my bf said it's the best I've ever looked... Usually I wonder about business who have 100% good reviews (thinking the employees wrote them!) but in this case all the reviews are 100% deserved.

Even though they have been in the same location for 25 years, the shop is well kept, clean and the stations are up to date. The owner has his desk in the middle of the salon and makes you feel like you are their most important client.

Walking in you are offered coffee or water right away and quickly given consultation by your stylist. I was lucky enough to book Michel and could not have been happier. All of the stylists treat you like you are thier client and before I knew it everyone was chatting with each other (clients & stylists).

I have been searching for a "hair" home for the last couple of years and have finally found it. I definately can't say enough good things about my experience. Great color, cut and style!

My only regret is I forgot to book my follow up appointment!

Francisco and his staff were very professional and great at what they do. I went for a cut/blow dry and Francisco did a FANTASTIC job. I knew from reading all of the other reviews that I was in good hands, surrounded by people who were skilled at what they do, but even so, they exceeded my expectations. Unpretentious, funky fresh atmosphere, reasonable prices, and kind staff. What more can you ask for in a hair salon? Make the appointment. You won't be disappointed.

Being new to the area I needed to find a stylist right away because I get my hair cut every 2 - 3 weeks. I went on google, citysearch, and yahoo and Guys & Dolls kept appearing at the top of the search results so I decided to call them. I was particulalry interested in Francisco to cut my hair and it was a Tuesday that I called. I was in disbelief when I was told that he did not have anything for the rest of the week and I couldnt wait so I booked with Michel. When I arrived the next day, a Wednesday, not only did I get a great cut from Michel, but I got the receptionist to show me Francisco's schedule and lo & behold, it was booked solid - the poor guy didnt even have time to go pee. I never saw a salon so busy for a Wednesday. I decided to pre-book an appointment with Francisco for 3 weeks down the road. My life went on, I got a reminder email the day befoe the appointment (nice touch) and finally it was my turn to sit in his chair - the way he said ""So tell me, what are we going to do with this hair of yours?"" was great. He actually listened to what I said and then he epxlained how my hair grows and what would be possible for me, so I let him go for it. For $25 I got the best cut I ever had in my llife. The entire staff was great - the place was busy, the music and the coffee were great and it was really a great experience. I was able to reserve my slot every 3 weeks for the rest of the year and all I can say is IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT.

After receiving a horrible haircut last Sunday from another hairstylist, I was in desperate need of a good, reputable hair stylist. I came across the reviews for Guy & Dolls on yelp and google and felt confident to make an appointment with Francisco, the owner of the salon. After booking my appointment online (easy to use & got a follow up email after my appointment was confirmed), I walked into the salon & knew that I made the right choice. The salon is in an nondescript strip mall that I pass by every morning on my way to work. Inside, is a really cool, funky shop, playing SiruisXM First Wave on the radio (my favorite radio station). Everyone is extremely friendly and I could see they truly empathized with my haircut dilemma. Francisco pulled out his scissors and went to work like he was sculpting a piece of art. In less than an hour, my way-too-short bob became a modern cut without sacrificing what little I had with length. I am EXTREMELY PLEASED with the way my hair turned out & highly recommend this salon. I will definitely become a loyal customer! Thanks Guys & Dolls!

There are plenty of reviews here, and do a Google search for this salon, and you'll see the hundreds of other excellent reviews they get. \n\nMy story - I'm an ex-hair stylist now web designer who has been cutting my own hair since I was 18. Every once in a while I go to a salon when the do gets out of hand. I never am quite satisfied though...the stylists never seem to understand me, and I end up with something I don't like.\n\nFor the past few years I've been growing my usually short hair out. It was looking nice for a while, then the summer came, and it turned into a frizzy mess. I'm an active chick - and all the hair was in the way, and it just wasn't my style. So I decided to visit a salon to tame the crazy mane.\n\nI booked with Francisco through their online scheduler. That was cool, because I received a confirmation email a little later, and then a day after a phone call with further confirmation. So use it in confidence. \n\nI GET this place. Know what I mean? It looks like the funky thrift stores from back home I used to shop. There's old movie posters, interesting furniture, vintage bric-a-brac and jewelry - some of it for sale. And they're playing Duran Duran and the Police. So my happy punk rock ass from the 80's was digging the New Wave. I was sipping Barney's Coffee while looking at hair style books and making plans to buy funky new earrings and scarves to go with the new cut while a customer was measuring a small coffee table he wanted to buy.\n\nThe wait was 15 minutes, tops. Francisco consulted with me, I showed him a few style pics, and we looked at a few more, and made plans to go very short and funky. I explained that I didn't want conservative. This has been my complaint with most stylists...they stay safe, and I end up re-cutting my hair myself.\n\nNot only do I get this place, it GETS me. Francisco knew exactly what to do. He razor cut my short pixie to perfection. Now I look like ME, and not some crazy female hippie leprechaun this side of Carrot Top. \n\nAll the staff was courteous, professional, and unpretentious. Francisco was attentive, kind and sculpted my hair like an artist. And the prices....seriously? An excellent value. I couldn't be happier. I'm thinking of going back for a color - another thing I usually do myself. Husband wants me to go blond!!!

What can I say? Only that Dawn is AWESOME ! I have followed her from other salons & would follow her ANYWHERE!!! I had spent years not being happy with the way my hair was highlighted & cut. Now, I go to Dawn. Not only do I not have to stress about how my hair will look, I don't even make any big decision about what I want done, I just let her be creative. (by the way , I work in the medical field, so I have to look professional, so not wild creative) Dawn is a true professional and take extreme pride in what she does and how your hair looks when she is done. I jokingly refer to it as her being in her ""zone"". I just got my hair low lighted, colored and cut last week and have had well over 5 compliments a day on my hair. And , the price,, I felt guilty leaving looking so good, for so little. Did I say Dawn is AWESOME?!

I am new to Fort Lauderdale and I was dreading going through the ordeal of finding a new colorist... coming from San Francisco I was accustomed to high-end salons (and those high-end prices) because they gave me that buttery blond highlighted hair that I so desire. My first experience here in town was a disaster - I went online and thought I found a great salon because of famous clients and a slick website - wrong. Let's just say that it was a disaster and my faith in these online reviews was shattered. \n3 months later it was time to try again. Fearing another fiasco I decided to ask for help (something I usually dont do). I sought the ladies who had really great hair - someone from my gym, several from Publix, an attorney, and even a bank teller and a female car saleperson... the verdict: it was like reading a google search, BUT there was one salon that was mentioned way more often than the rest: Guys & Dolls. I again went online and read reviews and, now with recs from real people too, I booked an appointment. I wanted to come in that Saturday (it was Tuesday) and there was a two week wait for a Saturday appointment - my instinct was to find another salon, but after some thought I realized that it was actually a GOOD thing that they were so booked up, so I made my appointment.\nTHE REASON FOR THIS REVIEW:: I arrived, and while I was hoping for a ritzy glitzy locale, the salon was in an unassuming plaza. But, when I walked in I immediately knew it would be great... the place was full of activity and a very positive energy. I was immediately offered a beverage and I truly felt at ease. I waited about 15 minutes and during that time I saw 3 people leave, ALL with gorgeous hair. The place is not only physically busy, it is loaded with ""stuff""... depression glass, jewelry, plants, lamps, and art - a whole 180 from the minimalistic white marble I was used to. Suffice it to say that if I did not get the exact 'look' I wanted I would not be writing a 5-star review. Francisco was great - and he did it all - cut, highlights, color - I did not have to be shuffled off to 3 different people. His company was delightful (as was his body) and it was just a pleasure. The entire staff was great and I almost did not want to leave. They had on 70's music and it brought me back to another time in my life and the whole experience was great. The price was very reasonable for the service I received and I canhardly wait to return. Thank You Guys & Dolls,

I recently went to Guys & Dolls (on Cypress Creek near Dixie) within the last two weeks. I really loved my entire experience there. This is the best haircut and haircolor that I have had in a very long time. I was approached and greeted in a very friendly manner. The entire staff were very pleasant and professional. The salon is very attractive, hip, ecclectic and extremely immaculate. Francisco is an excellent haircutter (and so, so hot) and really knew how to handle my curly hair. It looks fantastic each and every day without much effort. He is a star colorist and gave me a beautiful rich shiny haircolor. I will return happily to this salon and hope that I will be a longtime client. THANK YOU VERY MUCH Guys & Dolls!!!

I had been researching salons in the South Florida area for about four months and kept going back to Guys & Dolls reviews. let me mention that I have been in Florida for 15 years and have had 2 different hair stylist in that time. I am very loyal and sometimes I tend to stay even when I am not getting the treatment I deserve or the style I want. My mother was a hairstylist and owned her own salon before passing away. I witnessed first hand how a client should be treated and witnessed how the stylist should never be treated by a client. I walked into Guys & Dolls to schedule an appt for the following week after mulling for months over leaving my current stylist. I was greeted by JT who was friendly and seemed impressed that I was respectful on not expecting to get in that day. Which was never my intention. I just wanted to see the salon and make sure it was where I wanted to go. He scheduled me with Francisco. On March 11th I went in for my appt. I had a conversation with everyone in the salon who worked there at some point in time during my visit. EVERYONE was so friendly. Francisco listened to what I wanted. Advised me on which way to go and delivered the ""goods"". He was so friendly and maticulous. I am definatly going back. The salon is adorable and comfortable. I am a coffee lover and they provide Barny's or you can have wine if you like. As far as price. like everyone at this time I am tight on money. I am paying about the same as my last stylist but getting what I feel is definatly better service. They even sent me an email thanking me and had someone call to followup and make sure I was happy. I would definatly recommend this salon to anyone looking for quality! So glad I found them

My search for a great colorist and stylist is over!! Dawn is perfect - she listens carefully to what her clients want, but is willing to contribute her professional suggestions. The best thing - every client in there had completely different (but equally beautiful) looks - from edgy, precision cuts w/ unconventional color to more traditional cuts and natural/corrective color (me :)) this place seems to do it all and do it well. Loved, loved, loved Jessie, but the salon as a whole is a friendly professional and peaceful place. I can't wait for my next appointment. Francisco & Jonathan, you guys have a great place, thanks so much.

I live in Imperial Point and have been going to the same stylist at the same salon on Commercial for over 10 years and I was getting the same hair style and hair color. I never gave it musch thought because I have had the same job and the same husband and I guess I was just plain old regular me. Everday I drive by Guys & Dolls while going back & forth to work and I never gave it a second thought - just another salon in a corner mall. Well, last week we finally met our new neighbors who bought a house next to ours - they are a great couple who just moved here from Maryland.\r\n Our new friends came over for drinks and then we went out to eat. It was pretty much the guys talking together and the gals making girl talk. I couldnt help but notice how great Jen's hair looked and I mentioned to her that I would gladly introduce her to my stylist here in town when she was ready for some hair maintainance. To my surprise she told me that she was fed up with her old hairstylist in Baltimore and that finding a new stylist here in town was her #1 priority after she arrived. As soon as she had her DSL hooked up, she started searching and came across Guys &Dolls - it was all the positive reviews that peaked her interest. She spent an hour reading them all and decided to drive by. She walked in and was greeted by Francisco and because she felt so at ease and she saw what was going on inside, she made an appointment. \r\n So here I was thinking she would need a good stylist and little did I know that she had already found one. I liked her hair so much and after 10 years of my old hair style I was so ready to try something new and I did. I made an appointment with Francisco and he gave me a shorter cut that looks so great and is so easy to put together in the morning. My husband couldnt believe it was me - I looked years younger and I felt years younger. Francisco turned me on to some new styling products and I cannot believe that I was ready to introduce my new neighbor to my old hairstylist. How ironic that the new girl in town showed me a thing or two about this hidden jewel of a salon that has been here all along. \r\n Also, I have to mention that the prices were very reasonable - I was paying a whole lot more for a whole lot less at my now 'old' salon. Who ever would have thought!!!

I went to Dawn after reading numerous great reviews, boy was that a mistake. I went in for highlights and left with my hair being fried off. It was falling out in clumps when she brushed it. The color was great, but I left with half the amount of hair and completely damaged. I have been dying my hair for years and not once have I ever experienced something so awful happening to my hair. It is taking for ever for this mistake to grow out, because some of the pieces of my hair were fried off to about and inch short. So sad, considering I used to have long beautiful hair.

I travel to the area frequently to support a relative in a nearby health facility; one recent morning, I passed a salon banner on the road which ""spoke to me"" with its message. Even though I am reluctant to be a salon ""walk-in"" after previous bad experiences in my life, I had a good feeling the minute I walked through the door here! I was welcomed warmly, given an appointment with Francisco later in the day, and got exactly the haircut and the mental lift that I needed; I left feeling I had found a new salon home... even though I live in another state! I will definitely return and my ""hair maintenance"" will now be a regular part of my Fort Lauderdale visits.

Needing a cut and color ASAP, I was looking through various websites to find a new salon instead of going to my usual spot. When I saw the reviews for Guys and Dolls, I became very excited; there are so many great reviews! I surely can't go wrong here - this place has to be great! Barely able to contain my excitement, I called to make an appointment for the next day. \r\n\r\nMy first call was answered and immediately hung up (I heard the usual salon noise in the background so I knew someone had answered). Ok, I thought, no biggie, I'll just call back again. On the second try a man answered who seemed like I was bothering him by calling. Working in customer service myself, although I was mildly annoyed at the attitude, I knew that bad days can reflect a poor demeanor on the phone. I tried to set an appointment (thinking back on past reviews who claim how ""accommodating"" they are and their own website which states ""walk-in's welcome"") and was told no one would have time. Once again, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and figured they must just be too busy for a first-time client. \r\n\r\nHowever, after I hung up the phone with Mr. Friendly, I perused their website and saw that there is a way to set an appointment online. Being curious, I decided to see if there were indeed appointments available for the day I requested for the services I wanted to receive. Guess what??? There were! Not just one, but I counted EIGHT available time slots!\r\n\r\nNow, it could have been that the website isn't updated frequently, or possibly eight other people were on the phone the exact same time as me who took all of these available slots. Could be - not likely - but could be. However, I was pretty fuming mad at this point. Needless to say, however great this salon might be, I will be taking my uncolored and uncut hair elsewhere.\r\n

It is about 3 years since finding Guys & Dolls - it was the sign on the street that caught my eye. It asked ""Hate Those Gray Rooots?"" I do hate my roots and I wanted them professionally handled. Michel was available and took me immediately to his chair and gave me a 'consultation'. I am not accustomed to such fine treatment and I really enjoyed his personality and attention. I immediately felt like I was in good hands and I have not had a moment of regret since. Like clockwork I am in his chair every 3 weeks for my touch-up.\r\n\r\nThe one thing that is clear & evident at Guys & Dolls is the way everyone gets along and helps each other - at most other salons the stylists have attitude and are divas (sort of like what you see on Tabatha's show) but not there. The staff at G&D is like family to me - God knows I spend more time with them than I do with my so-called relatives AND I ENJOY MY TIME THERE MORE TOO. Everyone is nice and friendly and it is a very comfortable laid-back place. \r\n\r\n While I am not one who is that internet savvy, I felt compelled to write this review, especially after reading the previous post. While I was not there, I cannot EVER fathom Michel acting pompous or arrogant - he is one of the most caring, generous, humble, gregarious people that I know of - the person described in the other review is not Michel. Michel is one of the most knowledgeable colorists around and if he would ask someone to sit still, then just sit still. Simple. \r\n\r\nAs far as talking about others, this is a hair salon sister and that is what goes on at hair salons - politics is not the topic of discussion. The staff at the salon are courteous and polite and I doubt they would ever speak ill of anyone behind their backs - it sounds like that person had a personality clash with Michel - it can happen - and when it does that is usually a red flag to stop and take a look at one's self closely becasue there is usually something about the other persaon that you see in yourself. Why would someone sit through 3 hours of misery and leave without saying a word? Is that what most normal people do? I do not know becaue I am not a psychologist but if I was unahappy I would have spoke to the manager. Besides the fact that Michel just lived trhough a tragedy if immense proportions in losing a loved one, he was always there for me when I need him.\r\n\r\nThe reasons for these great reviews is that the staff is deserving of them and it just goes to show that you cannot please all the people all the time, so thank you for sharing - it validates the other hundreds of 5-STAR reviews. That is the beauty of this type of forum, so I advise people to take a minute and read them all for yourselves. It is obvious that the other person had a bug up her a** and looked to take it out on Michel. \r\n\r\nGUYS & DOLLS IS A GREAT SALON FULL OF TALENTED, POLITE PROFESSIONALS WHO WILL SERVE ANYONE -

After reading the overwhelmingly positive reviews about this place, I decided this was where I wanted a gift certificate to as a Christmas gift from a friend who asked what I wanted. I went to Francisco originally. I made the appointment for a haircut/trim and color, not being totally sure that I wanted the color. Francisco was very friendly and entertaining. We ultimately decided just to trim it a little, as he and Michel, the other stylist that was consulted, decided it was better to wait since they weren't sure about the product I told them I used on my hair about 3 wks. plus prior (John Frieda's color glaze, Google it and read details/reviews for yourself). This stuff washes out after not many shampoos..\nThey didn't want to take the time testing color on my hair since it was 5PM on a Friday..... SO. I made another appt., this time with Michel since he was suggesting colors I was more interested in. HERE IS WHERE MY RATING COMES FROM. When I arrived, we discussed color. We ultimately decided on a mixture that would create a caramel-y brown highlight, and as I stated previously, he was completely aware that I used that glaze (a LONG time ago). Everything was going fine, I was nothing but courteous. Then, when he began putting the color on, I was talking with my fiance and innately turned my head a little. He sternly said to me, ""DON'T DO THAT."" From there on, the mood completely changed. Every time I barely moved my head to keep the hair hanging in my face from stabbing me in the eye, it was met with a LOUD sigh, eye roll and patronizing shake of the head. It was incredibly awkward and uncomfortable. I had no desire to speak with this man at that point. Unfortunately, it didn't end there.\nWhen it came time to rinse, he looked inside the foil and YELLED, ""F***!"" He then proceeded to blame ME for his mistake, yelling about how this is what happens when clients use ""UNPROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS."" I have been to COUNTLESS salons for color, and not once have I been asked if I used at-home color or anything, because A LOT of women do. And I haven't had any problems at other salons with the way the color turned out. He continued to say insulting things aloud. He tried explaining to me why it was my fault...he said when I came in the ends of my hair were already lighter and THAT's why it came out so uneven, in addition to the product I used....HE HAD PUT BLEACH ON MY ENDS to lift them since he said they weren't lifting!! The entire THREE HOURS I was there, he walked around talking about me within earshot. My fiance even commented to me that the vibe felt very catty, and rightfully so. I heard stylists gossiping about clients the ENTIRE time.\nAt one point after the debacle, Francisco asked him why he didn't TEST a strip before applying all around my head, to which he responded, ""It's 3PM."" ..............\nMichel was extremely pompous, full of unfounded arrogance, insulting and disrespectful the entire appointment. I have NEVER had an experience THIS poor at a salon, and I have had some negative experiences. It was the first time I could not bring myself to leave a tip. I left feeling horrible and it stuck with me all night. Oh, and my highlights are COPPERY *RED*. I now have to go pay someone else to correct this.\nI also found out that the reason for these great reviews is that the owner asked clients to sit and review the place directly after their appts., in-house. Who would feel comfortable writing a negative review while still in the place?! Pretty smart, I'll give him that....but deceptive. \nHIGHLY *NOT* RECOMMENDED. WORST experience I have EVER, EVER HAD.\n

Absolutely the friendliest, cleanest, and all around best salon I have been to. I followed my stylist here when she switched salons and I am so glad! They use quality products, the atmosphere is relaxed and laid back. Everyone is friendly and helpful. It's more like a family atmosphere than a snooty salon. Dawn has been my stylist now for about 6 years and even though I moved to the Orlando area I still travel here every other month to have her color and cut my hair. The retail section of the salon is great too, well stocked and affordable. I actually pay less here than I was in the salon she used to be at. The salon decor has a real retro feel to it with old movie posters and lots of antique-feel furniture. Coffee is always available (Barnie's!)...and cookies too.\n\nAll the stylists are very nice and helpful. I would recommend to anyone who was looking for a great personal service. There is even a nail technician there also.\n\nFor AMAZING color...ask for DAWN!!!!

This is a great place to get hair services, is beautiful and everyone is so nice and friendly. \nMy 9 year old son decided that he wanted a change and I was a bit worried because his long hair is very thin and straight but he looks adorable with his short hair, Francisco did a wonderful job, so good that I decided to go myself. \nI would highly recommend this salon to anyone who appreciates excellent quality and awesome costumer service, A+.

I love this salon! It's so friendly, unpretentious and comfortable. Most importantly, the stylists are so very talented and know what they're doing! I've been in S. Fla. since 1993 and it took me this long to find a hair salon and stylist. I received the best haircut from Franciso since I left NY in 93. Thanks Guys & Dolls for restoring my faith in S. Fla. hair stylists!! See you soon.

I have followed Sherry for more than 20 years and she has been my friend/hairdresser through thick and thin. Who else in this world would drive to Palm Beach Gardens (more than once) when I was ill and unable to go to her salon, for a much needed tortoising (highlights and lowlights) and cut? Her attention to color is impeccable and my last visit with her at Guys & Dolls was the absolute best results ever, not to mention a perfect cut. I always walk out of there feeling like a new person, with a smile on my face and ""walking on air"". Sherry's experience, professionalism, and concern are above reproach, and I would reccomend her (and have) to anyone who wants the very best every time.

I have been going to Denise for Hair Extensions for 8 years. Before deciding to enhance my ""volume"" I did my homework. I researched for over a year. The research paid off. Denise is a true artist. Nobody and I mean Nobody has her eye. Her attention to detail makes my hair look perfect everytime. If I didn't brag to everyone about my extensions- NOBODY would ever know. She is also a kind soul who really cares about her clients. She works with your budget and cares about the health of your hair. There is NO one better. She is the best in the country --- Believe me I know - and I have sent many friends to her and everyone thanks me. -- If you are thinking of ""FLYING"" in for her services it will be well worth the price of a plane ticket -- If you are going to Denise -- You got lucky and found the BEST.

I've been a customer of ""Denise"" for a few years now. I would never let anyone else ever touch my hair again after expierencing an appt. with her. After seeing her work, there's no one that could compete. Her results are phenomenal! I get compliments on my extensions everywhere I go and I always suggest them to go to Denise. She can do wonders.
