I had first visited Cafe Maurice in 2008. The food was wonderful. I had a friend visiting in town and had been raving about the place to her. So, we decided to go. We ordered the French Onion soup...it was like one of the packaged soups you can buy in the supermarket and just add water to it. We were highly disappointed. My friend had order the duck, which came with gray, slightly burnt potatoes au gratin, that looked like they were a couple of days old, my lamb chops were burnt to a crisp. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. I don't know if the chef or owner has changed since 2008, but it was nothing, nothing, like how it was.

Pros: No pros

Cons: The food was absolutely terrible as well as the service.

went for the first time to the Cafe Maurice, as some friend recommand this place. What a wonderful surprise for my guests and myself. The atmosphere was great. The meal was delicious, I had the escargot, my friends get the blinis of potatoes and salmon and the fish soup, I recommand both of them if you go there. Then I get european bass grilled who was delicious and my friends get the chicken "a la creme" and the ribeye with a wine sauce, I can say all was perfect at a very low price for Miami Beach . Will definitly recommand to go there . Service was perfect with a French touch.

Attractive, inviting decor, but where is the French music? Escargot Provenciale disappointingly bland with no garlic or salt. Duck "shephard pie" was mosly mashed potatoes with a tiny amount of tasteless ground duck. Snapper was "fishy" smelling and served over bland, overcooked pasta, inedible to our French and Italian guests. The duck l'orange was very good though the orange flavor was absent. The "Floating Island" desert was fair and the Creme Brulee excellent! Service was good and we were undisturbed during our enjoyable after dinner conversation, having to request our check in the true European tradition.

CON: The ribeye ($14.95) was awful, as if the meat was sqeezed in a vise to remove all the juice and flavor; bread awful; chicken in mustard sauce that tasted like grey poupon straight from the jar.

PRO: fluffy mashed potatoes, outstanding red cab wine and inexpensive (only $4.00 per glass), excellent service from our lovely waitress whose recommendation I followed for the wine and mash potatoes.

A better choice for steak at reasonable price is Novecento at 1080 Alton Rd in South beach ( 9oz skirt steak $16.00).

Pros: mashed potatoes, french fries, wine, service.

Cons: ribeye steak, the mustard sauce on the chicken, the paint and decorations on walls is a mess.
