This afternoon my family lunched at Grand Buffet Restaurant in Melbourne, something we do about once a month. We have two young children, including a disabled three year old. During our meal, we noticed a small commotion and a serious lack of other patrons. We asked about it, and were told that there was a health inspection scheduled for later in the afternoon. Upon paying and exiting, we discovered a big, neon orange sign proclaiming that the restaurant was Closed for health and safety violations. We turned right around, asked again, and were told that all was fine. Another gentleman and his two sons attempted to come inside, overheard us after entering the lobby, and asked- he was told that they had failed the inspection and weren't able to serve anyone more today. We asked why we weren't told, and about a refund for our meal. We were met with "You ate, nothing wrong. Goodbye." At home, especially after my five year old started to feel ill, we contacted Code Enforcement and found out that cockroaches and filth caused an emergency shut-down WHILE we ate. There seems to be no recourse. Melbourne should know about the unpleasant practices of a local favorite.

I have a large group that decided to meet at Grand Buffet on babcock & hibiscus in melbourne. i have to say - STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. I called and told them the number of people that i needed a reservation for. They said they were putting us in the banquet room. I never asked for the room. They also said we would get a discount of $8 for the buffet, drink, and tax total.

When we did meet there, The resteraunt was empty besides us. Almost everyone was eating, but a couple didnt. They should've been happy for all the bunsiness I brought them during their dead noon lunch. instead A woman came in screaming and cussing at us in mixes chinese and english about how the people not eating had to pay anyway, or we had to pay $50/hour to use the room, which i never even asked for, they put us it in themselves. I offered several times to sit out in the maain resteraunt but she never replied, just kept yelling, leaving, and coming back to yell and leave some more. eventually someone else moved us out of the room, and when the people who we're eating tried to sit at the table with us, remember we were the only ones in there, they were told they're not allowed to sit down, they need it for customers.

They charged us full price instead of the price we were promised. which still wouldnt be enough to endure their "service", and the food was, at best, plain and bland and flavorless.

So warning to everyone - STAY AWAY FROM THIS DUMP, try the one on 192 by barnes & noble

I live in Sebastian. Last night we thought we'd drive up to Melbourne and see the storms. Chinese food while we were there sounded good. So, I logged onto yellowpages online and searched Chinese in Melbourne. Grand Buffet...had only one review, but it was a good one. I called the Grand Buffet and asked how much their buffet prices were for children and adults. I was told $7.99 for adults and $5.99 for children ages 10 and under. When we arrived at Grand Buffet a hostess says..."4?"...and leads us to a table, that she had just taken plates off but not wiped. A server says..."4?" I say .."3 adults 1 child". As soon as we are seated she asks my 7 year old son..."How old are you?" Ok...she didn't believe me?!? It's not like he looks any older than he is! We all order our drinks and go to the buffet to get some food. Our "server" came up to my daughter and started saying things no one could understand. My husband says, " we can't understand you!" At which point, she proceeds to take crab legs off of my 12 yr old daughters plate!!! We had all only had a bite of our food, except for my 7 yr old, he hadn't had a chance. My husband's eggroll was as hard as a rock, my soup was only lukewarm. I got right up and told the "server" that I am not eating here and we are leaving. Not sure she understood anything I said until I added.."And, I'm not paying!" Thats went she grabbed another woman who I am not sure was the owner, manager whatever...I explained what had happened...She tells me that if you want crab legs with your buffet it costs $10.99! I said, "Well, You would think that someone would tell you that when you call and inquire about buffet prices or when you come in, no one ever asked what we wanted, and where is the sign?!?!!!" She shows me a sign that is taped in front of the crablegs that says $10.99 buffet. It was only one one side...either way... COME ON!!!! They tried to block me from leaving and kept saying that I had to pay. I told them that I was not paying for food that I did not eat and that there is no excuse for one of her employees to take food right off of my daughters plate! She started yelling at me saying "you BEE-ITCH. YOU BEE-ITCH!!!" over and over "I will call police!!!" I said.. go ahead..your food is disgustingly old and your help is unsanitary!!! I said, Lady this is America it doesn't work that way. She screams..."I DO NOT CARE ABOUT AMERICA!!!!" To which I replied...obviously you don't! I She was up in my face, shaking, really looking like she wanted to fight!! I walked towards the door and she just started yelling "You have no money. That why you no pay!!" I just laughed and walked out...she was yelling.."I am not scared of you, you BEE-ITCH!!!" LOL We drove across the street and went to Long John Silvers!!! .
