This is the absolute worst place to leave your child! Don't make the same mistake I did. The owner is crazy confrontational, my child had his foot stuck in the crib when i showed up unexpectedly. I could hear my ten month old crying from

TERRIBLE! My child was SPANKED without my knowledge. My 4 year old advised me he was spanked by the owner Ms. Elaine. There was an investigation check with Dept of children and family (Fort Lauderdale). For more info check into!!!

I would recommend staying as far away from this "daycare" as possible. My baby was 6 months old when he went to this center. The infant room is tiny. The equipment is old. The infant teacher was a sweet, kind woman and did well with my child. The owner is a vile, opinionated woman. The owner screamed at me and my husband, told me my baby was too loud, told me my infant should be on a schedule (that she approved of). We could not pick up our child between certain hours. She gave food to our 6 month old baby that we did not provide or approve, such as raisins. She lectured us on parenting decisions, including using a pacifier for a baby. When I attempted to talk to this woman about our differences, she screamed at me and was demeaning. I was shaking. When she told me my child screamed too loud and woke up the other children, I made up my mind that my child needed to leave immediately. She was talking about a BABY,not an older child, a BABY. There is not enough staff to adequately care for children.
Here are some other things I observed; Children crying when their parents left and not one caregiver hugging or consoling them, just leaving the child at the door to cry. 1 year old and older children constantly watching television, sometimes educational videos, usually movies, I recognized Matilda once. I have never seen a child on the playground. My family drives by there, we live in the neighborhood, and never see children playing.
On the positive side, the center is very clean. There just isn't any love, understanding, or in my opinion proper early childhood education.
As a final note, you will find good reviews of this school in state and local department of children and family, because the owner knows how to make everything just legal. She does not have a good reputation in the community or amongst childcare givers.
My advice:if you use this place, show up when not expected, you will be surprised.

coworker (LOL) clearly the owner Elaine wrote this rebutle herself. It spews of her reteric. As a parent anytime there is an issue/concern brought to her attention-she deflects any and all responsiblity. It is either the parents fault or a disgruntled employee to blame. I initially ignored the stories I had heard from parents and employees and even defended Elaine's actions but I have since have cause for grave concern. The fear she instills in her employees-her r*cist actions -those who stood up for her and ungrateful n****s who should be thankful she gave them a job. What a load of you know what! I know you will read this Elaine and I hope others will do and have the courage to come forward and report you. They do have support from "educated white follks" who do not give a hoot that your husband is a police officer. If you are always watching from your video monitors-explain why there are so many incidents/accidents that can not be explained? If you have nothing to hide, why not provide parents with open access to the monitors? Instead of praying for your ex-employee-I will pray for you. I pray that if you cause another child undo harm or outright fib to another parent that justice will be swift and unmerciful! Just remember we are all accountable for our actions.
PROS: inexpensive (you get what you pay for)
CONS: to many to list

Small World is definitly a great daycare and it teaches children a lot. My experience with the daycare is that, in my opinion discipline is great because every child needs to learn right from wrong, and if the owner instills that in the children then I feel like there is nothing wrong with that. Her disciplinary ways are somewhat different from mine but I think they are far from abuse. The children have fun at "small world" and that is all that counts most of them look forward to doing fun activiteies and learning new things everyday. This daycare is small, which allows the teachers to have a more personal relationship with each child, and to pay specific attention to those children who need that extra one on one help...I would recommend this daycare.

Its sad to see how easily we are blindfolded by fictious stories and a false persona. I'm happy for those parents who had a 'great experience' at this wonderful school. A school where kids are punished for soiling themselves while being potty trained and plopped on 2 inch thick mats on hardwood floor when they don't fall asleep at the directors will. My biggest regret was not speaking up for the defenseless children and I too feel somewhat responsible. Yanking a child's hair or slapping a child is unacceptable punishment even for a tyrant. Allowing the children to play dirty sand that contains dog faeces is just wrong. If your children are so invested in this "Great School" why don't you take the time out to take a look around the school and maybe take a look on the list of violations posted on the director's wall? The director is a great story teller but I bet she never told you the story of the "magic wand", a ruler that was use to instill this her sick perception of punishment. Every month someone terminated because they either stood up to her on your child's behlaf or because they caught her using excessive force on your child. The bond between your child and their caretaker is broken and the cycle starts all over again when someone new is introduce. As anyone stopped to think about the emotional stability of these children? I agree that the teachers are great but the director is a sad character. Lying is a sin, for everyone, don't you think? Writing your own reviews are too! The only people who suffer from all this are the innocent child who fall prey to her sick, drunk personality!

I have been taking my kids to small world for 12 years. My daughter started to go to Small World since she was 2 she is now 14 and still loves to go there. My son started there when he was 3 months and he's now 5. I love this wonderful school because is more than a daycare, they prepare the kids for life, they make sure to teach the kids to be independents, to have manners, and to make sure that they are ready for "big kids" school. By the time my daughter left small world she already knew the alphabet, the numbers, colors, shape etc. same thing is happening with my son. They are a huge support for us working parents. The owner is always there to answer any questions or concerns you might have. They are wonderful, and the kids have alot of fun there.

My daughter attended Small world and I had nothing but a good experience, the location is a house converted to a daycare so it has a more homelike, personal feel. The staff is great and the owner is very involved in everything that goes on at the school. I always felt safe leaving my daughter there, and she loved going. They always had fun activities planned for the kids, she especially liked when they got to put on bathing suits and play in the water on hot days. I would highly reccomend the school to anyone looking for a more personal daycare experience.

I will never consider another daycare for my children. My oldest started attending Small World School after a brief experience at a more "institutionalized" daycare out west. That was 10 years ago. I knew when I had my second child 4 years ago there was no other place in the world we would go.

Having worked in the daycare for 4 years as well, I am amazed that anyone could be ridiculous enough to make accusations like I have heard. I have always referred to the school as a place that gave you the feeling you were dropping your child off at Grandma's house. The teachers are very carefully monitored and the children are truly loved.

A daycare should not be a babysitting service for your children while you are at work, but an extension of the caregiving that they need. That is exactly what Small World is. There is good, open communication regarding your childs activities and accomplishments.

Thanks to her time at this school, my oldest daughter received the solid start she needed to attain the honors that we are now celebrating as she moves into 6th grade, and my youngest is already writing me notes! This school is only for parents who take their children's future very seriously.

She worked with us for about a month. Claimed to Child Protection Services that her child had been bruised day after day. She told us how her inlaws sneek around her house trying to catch her abusing her son and how she cannot get him in the elevator or in the car and how he misbehaves in public. She had the one year old class and would take him into her class against the directors wishes and he would slam the babies with toys. He would scream at her and demand to be picked up and she would yank him by his arm across the room. She was fired and put out of the building because of her abuse to the one year olds and this is her revenge.

If she knew her child was being bruised why did she stay? That was the question the Child Protection Services asked. The owner watches the teachers with video cameras and records their actions which makes it very unlikely she would want herself recorded.

Abusive Daycare/Stop Sucking Up----Same Sick Person

Check out the spelling! All these months and she is still looking for another job. Our mistake was in being nice to her and giving her a chance to earn a living. This is really sad. We will keep her in our prayers.
