The so called "Balloon Man" Chuck Vaughn in Jax Fla is a crook, BEWARE he will take your money, show and will never get the balloon off the ground, and he will say he hurt himself on your property and sue you and will get a huge settlement

I had to file a lawsuit to get him to return my money. I won the suit. After you give him your deposit; he says the weather is bad EVERY DAY YOU WANT TO GO BALLOONING. When you check the weather, including winds; the conditions meet even the standards published on his web site.

This IS "The Balloon Man". I want to dispell alot of misconceptions regarding the balloon ride business.

1) There has always been a non refundable deposit. I must buy consumbales days berore the ride, regardless of the number if times it may take to complete the flight.
2) This is not an escrow buisness, there are persons that have bought rides that I have never heard from. I would have thousands of dollars held back that may never be available in case they never do that ride.
3) The WEATHER IS the overriding factor for any flight. Balloons are FAA aircraft and as such I must abide by the FAA regulations, as do I as an ATP rated piloit. If we fly in illgeal weather they will take all of my certificates.
4) Passenegrs do not have the ability to determine the proper conditions to fly, that is my descison and mine alone.
5) It is always better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air , instead of being in the air wishing you were on the ground. Take-off's are optional, landings are mandatory and not always in the way we want to land.
6) I have been flying airplanes and balloons since 1973 with over 2,000 safe flights. If I am not willing to fly, please understand that it is not for the lack of wanting to fly, but an overriding need for caution. I do not you to thave an unpleasant experience, or chance of injury. In a ballon you cannot turn around and come back to the launch point..
7) Every day I do not fly, I loose that days flight/revenue date and loose a days future revenue. So it is everyones best interest that you get flown on your date.
8) At any time I have 20-30 passengers that have pre booked flight dates ahead or yours. I will not bump a previously booked passnegr to put anyone in that slot. It is and always has been first come first booked. All flights are on my flight calendar, and I must abide by that schedule. Just because you did not get your flight on the specific date you requested, does not automatically mean you get the next weekend. i am always booked 6-8 weeks in advanced depending on the time of the year. I do upon request wll give any passsenger multiple flight dates.

I had a very similiar experience as the before mentioned. My husband and I had scheduled and paid 425.00 in advance as " The Balloon Man" had requested, to got up on our anniversary. The anniversary came and went 8 and a half months ago and still we have not been able to go up. The balloon man states, The wether has been bad for two years, and tries to blame it on us for not keeping him informed of our schedules. We have given him our schedules and when the time comes near we can't reach him or the wether is bad. When we requested a refund, he basically said to get in line behind everyone else. He refuses to refund the 100.00 for supplies and things that made no since. We never got anything. He is ripping people off left and right I am sure. My advice... do not give this man your money.

3) A refund of your money takes 8-12 weeks depending on who is ahead for a refund request. Someone please explain that to me......but you can not get your $100 Non-refundable back regardless of the level or service given.
