We stayed here for four nights, and found it to be a great value, with a great location on the south side of Treasure Island. Normally, we only book hotels that are on the beach, with an ocean balcony. We decided to take a chance because this property had a 30% off summer sale with good enough reviews. The last time we were on Treasure Island, we were further north, at the far newer (and more expensive) Residence Inn. We liked Treasure Bay Hotel Better.
Pros: Quiet and laid back. Close walking distance to some cool places like Ricky T's, Sloppy Joes, Middle Grounds Restaurant, and the public beach. Waffle House right next door. No BS "resort fees" or parking fees (e.g., Tradewinds on St. Pete Beach will kill you with such fees). Great sunset views, because although you are across the street from the beach, the public beach is on the opposite ocean side of the road, so no building to obstruct the ocean and sunset. Friendly and accommodating staff. Sliding doors are absolutely sound proof. Decent size room. Excellent value for money (only $99 a night during out discounted rate).
Cons: Older property, and common areas could receive a little more attention and cleaning. There was a cocktail straw in the stairwell the entire time we were there. Carpets in elevator and hallways a little musty and old (no biggie, room carpet was newer and fine).
Summary: Would definitely book here again, especially at the discounted rate we received. We had a good stay, and cannot find much to complain about. Only upside.
