After I found out I was pregnant, I had to go to East Manatee Family Health Center because I didn't have any insurance at the time. The first time I went there they treated me like I had been there many times and that I had many children. This is my second pregnancy. The first one was 5 years ago and was an ectopic pregnancy. The fallopian tube ruptured and it had to be removed. When I saw the doctor and his nurse, neither one seem to care about my obvious concerns. I had to beg them to do an ultra sound to see if it was another ectopic. The next day I started to bleed and I called to speak to a nurse. I left several messages and kept calling explaining my problem. Everytime I called it never seemed they cared and I continued to leave messages. It took them over a day to get back to me. After speaking to a nurse, she told me to come in and she would put an appointment in. When I got there the receptionist treated me rude and couldn't find my appointment. I ended up being there 3 hours. The next day the nurse called me to make an appointment to discuss the results. When I showed up at the time I was given, the same receptionist gave me more attitude. She told me I didn't have an appointment. She went on to tell me when I make an appointment, I need to make it with them. I explained what was going on and that the nurse told me to come in and I just did what she said. They finally found my chart and come to find out the appointment was never made.

I do not recommend this place!! Find somewhere else if you can. Service and treatment is terrible. The only people they seem to care about are the people who abuse the system of free or partial help by the government

I was referred here after being in the Lakewood Ranch ER. I have insurance so I was not in need of free care. I felt as though the staff could care less amount my problem. Any time I asked the staff a question, I had to interupt their gossip sessions. When I called to schedule appointments, I was given a date three weeks out. When I expressed to the person on the phone the urgency of my issue, I was transferred to the Head Nurse. The Head Nurse told me I should go to the ER if I was in so much pain but that I was given the first available appointment.

The one and only time I went to the GYNO, I was pleased with the doctor. However, if you can't get back to see him in a timely manner, what's the point.

This center targets a certain market. If you are not in need of their services, seek help elsewhere.

When I was pregnant with my daughter I had no insurance so I went here. I felt so out of the loop. I was a white girl just turned 21 and single. I had to pay full price for my visits while there were others with 10 other kids who were pregnant and getting all their care for free. I did not think that was fair at all. I was working a minimum wage job so it wasnt like I had a lot of money. I finally got insurance and left here. I had a friend who went here too and the doctor told her that even though she was having contractions the baby wasnt coming out. The baby died. DONT GO HERE.
