    .

Two bad reports here. Recently, I had my wife take her Saturn to these folks to have the rear brake drums turned and the brake shoes replaced. I am a very experienced drag racer and mechanic (26 years). I had checked the vehicle out prior to sending her there. I did not have the time to do the maintenance myself as I had been called out of town to drive for an injured racer. All this vehicle needed was a very simple rear brake job. $100-$120 max. My wife was told "lets put it on the lift and see what it needs". 30 minutes later the manager informs her that the brakes are shot and it needs new rear seals and a host of other repairs. When she said "just do the brakes as I requested", the shop manager said "OK but we can not warranty the work without these other things being repaired". Being that I was out of town, she agreed to the brake job and rear seal replacement only. She then waited an additional 2.5 hours for the work to be performed. Price...$296.88. If she had of agreed to all the "recommended repairs" the bill would have been a whopping $826.96. I have the written estimate. What a rip-off. I had this same experience from one of their sister-companies in California (BIG O Tires).
Then my son had a simple flat today when he awoke. I found a small construction grade stapple in his tire. I pulled the staple, filled it with fix-a-flat, and told him to drive it up to Big 10. One mile away. He asked them to clear the tire and repair the puncture. After a total of 3 hours 22 minutes of waiting time, they informed him that his "four year-old tires were too dry-rotted too be repaired and he needed to replace them all. He told them that the tires were less than one year old and to just fix the flat. They refused and tried to sell him four new tires "at a sale price". He refused and took the car to Goodyear and had the tire repaired at the huge charge of $8.50. Thank the heavens their is more than one tire center in our small town.

Pros: Nice to you when you come in.

Cons: Trick uninformed customers into unneeded repairs at huge costs.
