As frame of reference: I have been to many Indian restaurants in the past (Florida, New York, Philadelphia, Texas, and Virginia) and grew up eating home-cooked Indian food prepared by a family from Northern India. I also lived with a roommate who was a professional chef for two years (and oh do I miss his cooking LOL) and his specialty was curry.

I have been to Amrit twice with my family and friends. The food was good, though not the best I have had locally, and both times I had allergic reactions. My rating might be higher if it were based on their food alone. Sadly, I found the service to be bordering on overtly rude and they had no consideration for the customer if it was inconvenient for them to do so.

Both times when we arrived, we let our server know that I had severe allergies to tree nuts and coconut. Cross-contamination occurs, for example, when one utensil (spoon, spatula, etc) is used for more than one thing; I do not know how the cross-contamination occurs at Amrit though I do know it occurs.

There are precautions you can take to avoid cross-contamination. It happens though. My issue is with their attitude. I was literally told by both our waiter and the manager (who I think was the owner) not to come back if I had allergy issues. They did not try to solve the issue. I was not looking to get anything free, only to enjoy my food. They were rude, discourteous, and that alone kept me from ever eating there again or recommending them without a disclaimer.

When I first discovered this restaurant, I thought it might be a mistake. But one taste and I was hooked. From the papadom to the mango lassi, every bite was authentic. The vegetable curries are aome of the best I have tasted: rich, creamy, satisfying. Normally I do not like seafood at an Indian restaurant because it is usually dry. But the tandoori is not. The vindaloos are worth every tear, and the Rogan Josh was so delicious I asked for the recipe. Amrit Palace is owned by a family that cares about their customers. The service is friendly, helpful and paced just right. It is a nice surprise to find a good restaurant that serves satisfying meals.

Cons: The parking lot is small but it is not their fault.
