I was a student at PMTS SLC. My experience as a future professional has been nothing but wonderful! Shawn and Angie are amazing and treat everyone like family. The teachers are experienced patient, and caring and there for us students who try, and put everything in to make sure you have a great experience. If you have toured the school, I suggest you try it out and see for yourself. There is no drama allowed at this school, but if you give attitude or serious negativety to another, you are setting yourself up for failure. We want a good experience just as bad as you do! Learn for yourself. This was the best year of my entire life!

I have been taking myself and my four kids to the Paul MItchell School for haircuts for a few years and we have always been really pleased. The students listen well and are the best we have found to give my teenagers a trendy, hip haircut. We have been to 'more experienced' salons before where they race you through in 20 minutes and then I have to trim the stray long hairs they missed at home. While you should expect to sit in the chair a LONG time (at least 1 hour), you should come out of the experience looking good. Granted, I probably wouldn't have my own hair colored there, but I have been very satisfied with the haircuts, the students and the instructors.

Pros: Price is right and they usually know about the newest trends

Cons: Services take a long time

All of the reviews on this website make this Salon sound terrible. I agree that some people may have had a bad experience, but this is not always the case! Not even usually! I have gotten my hair cut and dyed here twice and I have loved it both times! I am planning to go there again this week and was looking for the hours of operation when I found this website with the reviews! I feel that this is a bad representation of the salon. Yes it is students doing your hair, but from what I can tell, they have learned well! There are always instructors present. Plus, they have you sign an agreement saying that it is okay if it is not perfect. So the person "lorralynne3": duh they aren't going to refund your money. You signed an agreement!! I'm sure they could have fixed your hair if you had let them. The reason why this place is so reasonably priced is because these are students who are learning! These people need to get over their bad experience and give it a second chance.

i went in for a pedicure, the girl informed me that she was graduating in 2 DAYS! she had done the whole cosmetology and aesthetics program so i kinda felt a little relief that she was doing my pedicure, but i was sooo wrong...1st of all she was wearing gloves that were probably 3 sizes too big for her hands just because" they were on her tray", second she didn't even scrub my feet or anything, just painted on this tingly mask thing an let them sit for a minute after she pretended to trim my cuticles and edges...then she proceeded to paint my toe nails which a blinded monkey could have done a better job...i ended up going home taking the polish off and doing it myself, a million times better than she could have ever done it.

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE, YOU ARE ASKING FOR DISASTER!

I consider myself something of a beauty school haircut experience veteran; I use them almost exclusively when it comes to getting my hair cut. Suffice to say, I've learned a lot. So far, Paul Mitchell is the only place I'd definitely revisit.

First off, kudos to my stylist's instructor, Chad. He was dynamite and really made my experience a positive one. Going into it, I told him I had some "beauty school baggage" and explained some of my past experiences both good and bad. I told Chad what (I thought) worked for me in the past but that I was open to suggestions. Chad was a star; he explained that what I had in the past wasn't the best that could be done with my curly hair and why it didn't really work. I'm glad I took his suggestions because the final result was better than I had hoped for.

My actual stylist was Charles. I could tell by the way he interacted with his instructor and the questions he asked that he was quite competent at what he was doing. Charles has a great chair-side manner and was delightfully chatty with me. From talking to him, I could tell he was really into making sure I left a happy camper.

The only drawback is that the cut can take a lot more time than if you go to a regular salon. My cut took about 2 hours total. I expected this though, so it wasn't a big deal for me. However, if you've never been to a beauty school before, it's something to consider. As with any stylist (student or long-time pro), be upfront and direct as possible with what you want, but be willing to take suggestions -- they can pay off.

They are completely clueless. My hair looked horrible, and then after they ruined it instead of refunding my money they offered to work on it again. Hello? they ruined my hair once, im totally not going to let them near me again. Unless you want to look like a freak, don't let these people touch you.

The instructor was not present while the student dyed my hair another color from what I asked for. Then in attempt to recover offered to bleach my hair--to which I said no way!!!! You would think that after going to school for 7 months the students would realize that putting bleach on hair after having product on it for 40 minutes is not a good idea. I would recommend going elsewhere!!! Even getting a box of hair dye from the grocery store would be better than what they offer at their school.
