I got my hair cut and colored by Jeremiah! It is fabulous just what i wanted and more. Then I ventured into their hidden oasis in the back. Their Spa!! I booked myself a pedicure and waxing appointment with Jen who is the best! I recommend this place to everyone. Very beautiful and friendly staff. Especially the very helpful and friendly front desk girl with the dark hair.

I wanted to take a quick minute to tell everyone how thankful I am that I found this place. My stressful job was becoming overwhelming and then my staff gave me a gift card to Akasha....and I needed it!!! I remember now why me time is so important and I found THE place I want to spend it. My massage with Brie was so amazing that I decided to add a pedicure before I left and it was great too. I will definitely be back and have been telling all my friends. You will love this place.

I was the bride to be with kriswyo on Saturday night that experienced the same unethical application of greed by the owner of Akasha. We came back from a wonderful photo shoot for our engagement to find boots around our vehicle wheels. It cost us more to free ourselves from Akasha than our photo shoot did. The parking lot displayed ONE hidden sign with regards to parking, but was completely overgrown with vines. Anyone that would prey on those of us entrapped by this scam is scum!

On Saturday evening I was shooting an engagement session with a beautiful couple and we wanted to shoot at the downtown library and parking was scarce but came across the Akasha parking lot which was EMPTY and the building was dark. There were no signs of no parking so parked there for one hour to do a couple pictures. Came back to find our cars booted because the owner had called to have us towed. Come to find out there are signs hidden behind huge branches and bushes that we did not see. I have pictures of everything if you are curious. The owner is obviously out to get anyone for everything they can so beware and do not go to this business.

I was with a bridal party. We had pedicures and had our makeup done. The first time I wore false eyelashes. We all had a great time and the bride ( my friend) said that it was a great way to start her wedding day. I have been back twice since the wedding. I love this place. My hair has never looked better. Can't wait for my next appointment.

A friend I was staying with recomended I get a massage at Akasha. Living in Santa Monica, I have been to the best spas. I was shocked to find a spa of this caliber in Salt Lake City. I received one of the best massages I have ever had from a therapist named Jessica. My friend said I would be surprised by the atmosphere but I was elated. I was able to take a steambath that was glorious. Next time I am in town, Akasha Spa will be one of my visits. I loved it!!!!

Although Akasha has a nice atmosphere, it is definitely not worth the money or the time to attend. The turnover in employees is very high, most likely due to the immaturity of management. When wanting to book another appointment, the staff that is requested no longer works there. Secondly, the management is very unfriendly and not accomodating. If you are willing to spend money for services that Akasha provides take your money else where! Akasha does not value their customers. I was not treated kindly and I felt like they only wanted my money. There were many negative vibes while receiving services and I felt more like an inconvenience than anything. Take your money to a spa and salon that appreciates your business and that will treat you with respect, maturity, and appreciation.

I recently went to Akasha for the first time after receiving a gift certificate from my boyfriend for practically a FULL DAY of services & pampering-by far the BEST gift I've ever received! My massage was so relaxing & really helped relieve my lower back pain, the facial I received was by far the BEST facial I've ever had (& I've had tons of them), & my pedicure was so luxurious & left me with the prettiest toes & softest feet ever! I also had my hair cut & colored & it turned out PERFECT & stunning! I couldn't be more thrilled with the results! I literally left feeling like a million bucks-I will DEFINITELY be back to Akasha-this place is a gem amongst the other, somewhat so-so spas & salons I've experienced in Salt Lake City! Akasha is my new favorite place-I'd give it 10 stars if I could!!!!

I work at a local downtown hotel and we were given gift cards to try akasha out and refer guests there. A few of us FD staff went in for pedicures and only 1 of the 4 of us left satisfied. They rush you thru and are rough and rude! I was not happy because I have tiny nail beds and the lady just complained how hard my nails are to paint and she didn't even end up putting polish on the entire nail. Needless to say we DONT refer our guests to them!

I called Akasha as soon as they opened and got an appointment for the same day which was really nice. I had Lois as a stylist and she did an amazing job. I got a partial weave highlight on my hair, my hair is super thick and sometimes if you don't put the right stuff on it it comes out crazy colors like purple or orange but she knew exactly what she was doing. I also have super long hair and she was able to give it a good trim without stealing my lenght!

I've been a client of Akasha Salon and Spa for over a year and have always had great results whether it be in the Salon or Spa. I walk in because the hours I work are always changing so I don't mind trying different Massage Therapists or Hair Stylists. I walked in recently in the early evening and was pleased to find new faces. I had my hair cut by Kirk and was once again extremely happy, I highly recommend this Salon.

I moved to Salt Lake City from California a few months ago and was so worried about finding a place where I could get great hair, and spa services. I found Akasha through a co-worker and had my hair and make-up done after having a wonderful facial. Pam did my make-up and Lois did my color and cut. I looked like a different person. My boyfriend loved it and I will be a faithful client forever.

A prior poster commented on turnover. I can vouch for that fact. Things appeared to change when Nathan and Lois were hired. It was explained that they worked as a team because Lois was a color "specialist" and Nathan was the creative director, which normally indicates a talented stylist. (Heads up this means you have to tip two people if that's an issue for you.) Well my color with Lois was okay, but not what I'd expect from a color specialist. Nathan gave me a cut shorter than I wanted and was difficult to work with. Lois raved about what a great haircut Nathan gave me and how fab I looked. When I arrived for my next appointment, Nathan was gone and Lois did my color and cut while I heard all about what a liar and psycho Nathan was and why he had been fired. It was not exactly soothing and pampering. When Lois (who took over as creative director) cut my hair she kept commenting on what a lousy (cuss word beginning with S actually) he did and how when I left the previous time she was wondering "What the hell is up with that hair cut?" I'm sitting in the chair wondering why she went on and on about how great I looked if it was a bad cut. Wow!. Realizing the person with the scissors in your hair lies to you about looking good when you don't is a pretty creepy feeling. On top of that she made a call to someone about a reference I gave her and called me the wrong name!

Oh, and the two owners Pam and her daughter are never friendly. In all the time I've been going there they have looked right at me and never even said hello.

I would not recommend this salon. There is too much change in staff. I've never had a truly amazing experience and the owners don't express any interest in you or thank you for your business.

I went to Akasha to get my hair cut and colored. Lois is absolutely amazing. She actually listens to what the client wants and delivers that. My hair looks natural and I have received more compliments about how it looks now than I ever have in the past.

She also has a way of making you feel at home and welcome. I will definitely go back to see her. Great job Lois and to the rest of the Akasha team.

I wanted to say thank you to Lois, Jenn and the entire staff at Akasha. My color looked so natural and withstood the sun and salt water during my vacation in Mexico. Jenn did a terrific job on my brows too! I wish I could move to Salt Lake City just to keep coming back to you guys!

I recently turned 30 and realized I've the same ordinary hair cut for several years. I booked an appointment with Aja (on a referral) for a trim and color, my usual, and came out looking amazing (if I do say so myself)!!! While sitting in her chair, I started to tell Aja how bored I was my "usual" but didn't know what else to do (I am NOT the most creative when it comes to hair ideas and am definitely not one to spend more than 10 minutes in the morning on styling). Aja talked to me about what I liked and didn't, gave suggestions and WOW! I came out looking like a new person!! I absolutely love the cut and color. She showed me how to style it in under 10 minutes (bonus in my book). I would recommend her to anyone and everyone!! The entire staff is so friendly and the overall experience definitely "wowed" me.

I've been going to this spa for almost two years, but no more. The management at Akasha must be terrible because the turnover in staff is ridiculous. I've lost count of the stylists that have come and gone. Just when I develop a relationship with someone I call to get my next appointment and find out that they are gone. It's not just my stylist, but my favorite esthetician and massage therapist. Oh, and the front desk staff is never the same except for the cute girl with the pink hair.

Like other people I tried Lois. She was partnered with a stylist named Nathan. Lois did color. Nathan did the cut. Nathan is gone (great gossipy story there which they have no problem sharing!) and Lois will probably leave soon because all she talks about is how much she hates it here and misses Boston, which is not exactly entertaining as previous reviewer commented.

If you want a "cool" place to look at then this is the place for you, but if you want a long term relationship with a stylist or esthetician you aren't going to find it here.

I have been to Akasha twice for a haircut and color and have been more than impressed. I went to Lois for a haircut and color and was happy with my results. Also two of my friends went to her as well. I recently went to Aja and i couldn't be happier! She is so young and cute and really understands modern hairstyle. I would recommend her to anyone.

I just moved here from New York, and I have been looking for a great hair sytlist. A friend of mine referred me to Akasha and they set me up with Aja. I really can't begin to explain her talent she is amazing. I actually am more impressed with her than I am with some of the stylists in NYC. I am very picky about my hair and really have a hard time finding good stylists. I am so happy with my hair and I would totally recommend Aja for cuts and color. Also, after my appt. they gave me tour of the spa and it blew me away. It reminded me of my favorite spa in NYC, I was so impressed I booked a massage for next week. I have been to other spas here in Salt Lake and have been very unimpressed. They have an amazing meditation room and water wall and their customer service was excellent. I can't wait for my massage!!

I had the day from hell...and the staff at Akasha saved me. Before I went inside I was losing it and by the time I left my day was amazing!!! The best, the BEST massage I have ever had....and then not only gorgeous hair but total entertainment from Lois. I can not tell you how many years I have spent overpaying for color that never made me totally happy, and Lois nailed it. It was exactly what I wanted. They gained a customer for life last week. I will never go anywhere else. This place is too amazing to pass up. Thank you.

This review is long overdue, but I think necessary. I've read some of the negative reviews (most of which are pretty old) and I can only guess there must have been different management or staff or something. The spa they describe is not the same spa I have experience with. That said...

My sister had her wedding last August and had all of her bridesmaids (7 of us) plus the two flower girls and herself (the bride) have a spa day the morning of the wedding. They were SO accommodating to us all, it was truly amazing. Absolutely everything that could have gone wrong that day (fuses being blown at the church, groom's mother has heat stroke, etc) did, but they made the day so much more manageable. Kudos to the staff.

The one can was that for the manicures, the acrylic nails were very thick and they didn't (at the time) have a soak off service. Every other aspect of the manicure was fine, but the acrylics were awful.

The salon atmosphere is very urban chic - kinda like a garage. Very metallic and cool. The hair stylists were all great and some of the styles were unbelievable. I had just chopped off all my hair for Locks of Love, but they were still able to turn my very short hair into an up-do. It held all the way through the after party (14 hours later) and looked awesome the next morning after I took out all the pins and let it out. Very pleased!

The make-up artists were also good, accentuating our features without caking on the makeup. My only complaint with the make-up was that they used generic brand (Great Lash) mascara, which was put on much heavier than my comfort zone would allow. The staff was awesome and I felt like a princess, and appreciated their reassurance when I was out of my comfort zone (I don't wear very much make-up and get fancy with my hair).

The BEST part of the day was the SPA! You go through these doors and it is, as the other reviews describe, a completely different world. It's serene and relaxing and beautiful. They give you big robes and slippers, a soothing lounge with fountains and comfy furnishings where you can relax and sip on tea and refreshments. Definitely come EXTRA EARLY so you can enjoy these amenities!

The pedicure was the best I have ever experienced! Very relaxing and the technician was professional and sweet. Besides being the BEST pedicure ever (and I have searched high and low in the SoCal area where I live to find its equal) it lasted a very long time. The paint didn't chip, smudge, or fade.

Overall, I'm so overwhelmed by the positive experience! It made an otherwise CRAZY morning (photographer running around taking photos, large wedding party, wedding planner running around organizing, two little girls to keep entertained while the rest were doing their treatments, etc) very relaxing and the rest of the day amazing.

Since then I have phoned in gift certificates and the staff has always been courteous, professional, and helpful. I cannot thank them enough!

I decided to treat myself and get my hair done. I told the stylist that I wanted carmel maybe a bit darked streaked through my blond hair. It came out a mousy brown/gray all over. So she tried again and it came out purple. I asked her when she was dying it the second time about the color and she said she went dark and I said NO not darker and she said trust me. So then I tried to talk to the manager and she said that they couldn't help me and wouldn't refund my prepaid $150.
Unless you enjoy being treated badly and ignored I wouldn't come to this saloon

I decided to treat myself and get my hair done. I told the stylist that I wanted carmel maybe a bit darked streaked through my blond hair. It came out a mousy brown/gray all over. So she tried again and it came out purple. I asked her when she was dying it the second time about the color and she said she went dark and I said NO not darker and she said trust me. So then I tried to talk to the manager and she said that they couldn't help me and wouldn't refund my prepaid $150.

Pros: nothing

I've seen Akasha on my way to and from work on 4th south, and finally went in. I had a good vibe about the place from the start, but was blown away by the place. You go through a garage where people are cutting hair and such, then through a glass door past this big room full of pedicure chairs then a giant door into this quiet, peaceful, majestic place. it was totally unexpected. Great steam room and sauna got me relaxing and the Massage Therapist was great. He knew his stuff and was very professional. With the parking right out the door, a robe that fit a giant and all that they did for me, I felt like I got a bargain.

Pros: I felt like the spa belongs in Las Vagas's best hotel

I drove by Akasha and decided to drop in for a badly needed haircut - and I am so happy that I did. They got me in within 10 minutes with Nathan, and he was amazing. I have never ever been happier with my hair. He took the time to explain styling tips too. I am a loyal & commited customer now. Everything about my experience there was wonderful........how lucky I got!!!

This is the best spa! I walked in on a Saturday to see if I could get my eyebrows waxed and they made space for me to not only get a waxing but a massage and a peticure. I have been to many spas and this one is the most wonderful! I needed my day of relaxation and they treated me like a queen. I will definately return!

The full spa now open, Akasha is truly amazing! The salon is a great space. The back, though, is a totally different world. Through a big wooden door is a serene haven from the world outside. You can relax in the meditation room to the sound of their really cool fountain. I was able to use the steam room and sauna with my treatments, which was a nice bonus. My massage was the best I've ever had and the staff was very friendly and professional. I would recommend it to anyone.

I got chewed out by my pedicure gal that my heels were too dry. She left the room in a huff. She was visibly upset with me. Normally, this wouldn't bother me BUT IT WAS THE DAY OF MY WEDDING. I left feeling agitated and angry - not relaxed and restored.

This place is unbelievable. You seriously will never believe what you walk in to. It was a mechanics garage or something before...and now it is the most amazing spa I have ever been in. The salon is hip and chic - and although I didnt have services there it definitely seems fun and trendy. Really, this is the nicest spa I can hardly believe it is in utah. When you walk through this huge wooden door into the spa it is like you enter a whole new reality. The locker room is so cool...there is a steam room and sauna - and the robes are soooo soft. The water wall and waiting room waterfall slowly drift you into total relaxation...the relaxation from that room was treat enough and then to top it off I got the best massage and pedicure that I have ever had.
Not only do I recommend this place - if you dont try this spa you will never know what a truly 5 star spa experience can feel like. The place was beautiful, the treatments were phenominal, the staff was nice and accomodating, and it was reasonably priced. I loved it!!!!

I visited the Akasha Spa during it's construction last year. Of course, I was not made aware of their limited services before purchasing a $295 Day of Akasha certificate.
The spa's website states that customers should arrive 15 minutes prior to their service; I arrived 20 minutes early to be safe. I waited in the lobby for 40 minutes before the massage therapist entered the spa, putting out the cigarette that he had been smoking, and absentmindedly forgetting to wash his hands.
He then led me to the tiny, cramped room that I was to be given my massage in. After disrobing, he entered the room, removed his leather jacket, and ran his fingers through his greasy shoulder-length black hair.
The next service, a French pedicure, was greatly disappointing. After painting my toenails, the pedicurist instructed me to put my socks and shoes back on and walk to the salon. It wasn't until I got home that I discovered the paint was smeared.
My final service was a full hair color and highlight. The less-than-attentive stylist spotted my blonde hair with black blotches, and left the bleach on my hair for a good hour and a half-burning my scalp.
Upon exiting the salon, the blonde receptionist chased me down in my car, insisting that I hadn't paid (I had paid for the services two weeks prior). I came back into the salon to resolve the issue, and the owner took down all my information (from my license plate # to my relative's phone number) as if I were some kind of criminal.
When I got home, I called the salon to make sure the issue was resolved, and the owner insisted it was. A few hours later, I received a call from someone at the salon telling me that I was "never allowed to come back". Not only did I pay $350 for poor service, I was humiliated AND I had to pay Regis $100 to repair the damages to my hair.

I loved my stylist, I had been going to her for a while from another salon. However, I noticed that the management at Akasha treat their staff terribly, which made me uncomfortable and not very willing to return until my stylist moves salons. It was especially awkward when the management bawled out the front desk girl in front of me, calling her stupid etc. while I was standing right there. It's not the most welcoming of places but the stylists and spa staff are fantastic. So I'd recommend it if you're looking for just a good cut or wax etc. but not necessarily a good experience. Ha.

Avoid Akasha! My husband and I recently celebrated our anniversary. In celebration, I specifically arranged for a couple's massage at Akasha. However, when making the reservation, Akasha failed to mention that they have no facilities for a couple to have a massage in the same room: rooms large enough to accommodate two people getting a massage at the same time are still under construction, a process that the receptionist told us had been ongoing for quite some time. So we were split up and placed in seperate rooms. The management called it a "mix-up" but they never had the facilities to offer the couples massage in the first place.

To make matters worse, the massage room is adjacent to the hair salon. I spent my massage time attempting to ignore the conversations between the hairdressers and their clients. I also endured the awful smell of hairdressing chemicals because one of the clients was getting a permanent.

The management's feeble attempt to address my complaints was to offer a $20 discount on a future service. I will never return to Akasha. I highly recommend you take your business elsewhere.

The amount of money I paid for was not worth the services. I was recently in for a party with my brides maids and all of us agree it was not worth it. 3 out of 5 of the girls doing the services were inexperienced and unfriendly. Not to mention the inapropiate conversation in the room during our pedecures. I had my hair blown dry and the girl was cold and seemed completely not interested in the conversation I was attempting to generate. I would assume that they dont care how well thier staff does services since all of us agreed we were unsatisfied. Never going back, EVER

I am from Houston Texas and have been looking for a great place to get my hair done. I found it here. The staff was honest and did a great job and I love my hair cut and color. While the wait was >30 min it was worth it. It was relaxing and wonderful. Would reccomend this to anyone.

The most traumatic event that occurred at Akasha was the Stylist spilling dark hair dye all down the leg of my jeans and all over my suede boots. The manager was less than apologetic about the event. She told me she would see what she could do after her stylist had ruined my clothes and boots. If that was not enough, the stylist cut off all my hair after I asked her to stop cutting! I asked her to take off four inches, which ending up being ten inches! When the abuse was over I expressed how displeased I was with the whole experience. The manager told me that all she would be able to do would be to take care of the hair service. She told me to call in a few days if I was still displeased; when I did she never returned any my phone calls!

I read the other reviews below before I went to Akasha for a "test run". I am looking for a spa for a massage and decided to try something less expensive first (a manicure) to get a feel for the place. I was left waiting for almost 20 minutes and the Spa Manicure which is listed as lasting 30 minutes ran 45 and made me late for a meeting. The nail tech was very friendly and tried to be accomodating, but didn't seem interested in getting the job done in a timely manner.

I recently had an awful experience at a downtown salon that was recommended to me by a co-worker and they absolutely ruined my hair. My sister recommended that I try Akasha as she is a frequent guest at their spa. When I called for a consultation they were able to get me immediately! The stylist not only fixed the damage that the other salon had caused to my hair but also included a deep conditioning treatment at no charge to me. I would recommend Akasha to anyone!

Rude and un-professional counter help, un-skilled staff, over-priced. I recently had a facial and had a terrible reaction to the products that the esthetician used and also sold me. I called her to discuss the issue and she was avoidant and made no attempt to help with suggestions or to arrange for me to come back in to look at my skin. I had also purchased appx $300 in facial products at her suggestion which were also irrirating my skin. When I attempted to return the products I was treated rudely by the counter help and also the management. I actually had to go into the spa on more than one occasion just to return the products. I was made to feel like I was the problem and was bothering them - terrible way to treat customers.

I went to Akasha expecting the employees to know what they are doing. The girl who did my hair turned it orange then kept telling me how good it looked and how it matched so well. I ended up having to go some place else to get it fixed because they wouldn't fit me in for a week. They also wouldn't give me a refund. Terrible customer service. I wouldn't recommend Akasha to anyone.

I can not say enough about this spa. The staff is absolutely amazing and the facilities are beautiful. The attention to detail at Akasha is wonderful... from the moment I walked in the door the staff pampered me with a steamed towel and hot herbal tea while I waited. They have the best pedicures in utah (ask for Brie)!!! and to really put it over the top I ended my retreat at Akasha with a hot rock massage from Brittany, and she is amazing to say the least!!! I literally felt the stress melt out of my life - this is the spa to visit - trust me!!!

I went in to Akasha's spa to relax and unwind and I ended up being left in the "meditation" room to meditate with cold tea for 45 minutes! No on came to check on me and when they finally figured it out they sent me through a hurried and sloppy manicure. The employees were rude and unapologetic. I will never go back and I encourage everyone I know to do the same.

I love Akasha. I've been going there for about 8 months now. Every time I get my hair cut, I get compliments for weeks. The staff is very friendly, which I feel is very important. To be perfectly honest, I've never had the chance to enjoy any spa treatments, but that's about to change. Try it, you'll love it. I've suggested Akasha to all my sisters and my friends and all of them agree with me. Akasha is the best!

The atmosphere & decor are simply fabulous, & their staff couldn't be friendlier. But it is, without question, their therapists & their treatments that put this place over the top! If you want a truly extraordinary experience, get the Akasha Hot Rock Massage from David, & the All Aglow facial with Shanalee--you will leave feeling absolutely refreshed & renewed! Akasha is pure bliss!!!
