So, why all the walking?

I called the this particular podiatrist because I believe I have some ligament/tendon damage in my right big toe. Seeing 3 1/2 stars on City Search, I figured I couldn't go wrong...or, at least, I'd get taken care of.

The woman on the other end of the phone was congenial, asking the standard fare of medical/insurance/personal info questions, including, "What insurance do you have?" The answer, United Health, was accepted.

Flash forward to today. My appointment was at 9:15 in a medical plaza (U of U Hospital) I am unfamiliar with. After arriving with what I thought was plenty of time to spare (8:45), I proceeded to the information kiosk to ask directions to Podiatry because there's a lot of construction going on there, and I didn't want to waste time. After being sent to the 4th floor (where Podiatry is not), I fought my way through people milling around in the hallway for some sort of open house -- seriously, they were everywhere and weren't budging -- to the elevator which I mistakenly directed to the first floor (not "A" to return to info as I had intended). I got off, and unintentionally found "Clinic One" which the phone woman had told me to go to to register. With only a few minutes left before my appt., I decided to ask where Podiatry was and register there instead of keeping them waiting. After receiving a snotty "Clinic Five!" from the obviously put upon desk worker, I limped down the hall to Clinic 5, only to have to wait for the desk workers to finish their conversation (presumably about how hard they work). While wiping the sweat from my brow and after being scolded for not registering at Clinic One ("now I'll have to do it"), my insurance card was immediately met with, "The Hospital doesn't accept United Health". She then called the doctor's office to inquire as to whether he accepted it or not. He does, but I will have to pay a "facility fee".

I took my card and went to work. Scott Clark's office can bite me.
