If you go to Moochies, forget the Philly and go with the meatball. The Philly is above average, but not exceptional as some would have you believe. Most people who think that these cheesesteaks are the real deal, have never had the real thing. That being said, I have yet to have a better Philly in Utah. Are they incredible? No, but they are the best around here. The meatball sub is a completely different story. They make the best meatball sub I have ever eaten. It is something that I would definitely recommend to my friends and family. I will be back over and over again for this sandwich alone. Also, if you like just a little bit of kick with your sub, use their creamy jalapeno sauce. It is delicious and is a great condiment on any of their sandwiches.

Pros: Fantastic Meatball Sandwich

Cons: Overhyped Cheesesteak

My company picks up food there often for lunch. Depsite the fact that it is across the valley and fairly expensive we are willing to travel to pick up lunch. This last order we placed, over 50% of it was WRONG! And when I called to nicely let them know they were very rude and basically called me a liar, saying that they have a system and their system works. Yeah...sure does...50% of the time. It was enough for me to go somewhere else when we are looking for food in Salt Lake. Make sure you check your food and don't interact with the staff. They have no respect for who actually keeps them in business!!

I don't know who to be more upset with...Guy from the food network, my friend who recommended Moochie's to me, or Moochie's themselves for claiming to have an authentic cheese steak. I grew up in Philly and travel to SLC often on business. When I learned of Moochie's and how "great" the cheese steaks are, I was excited to give it a try. The meat was not bad. A bit dry and burned, but at least they used shaved rib eye. However, the cheese almost made me sick. You can't be authentic without offering wiz...and if you are going to do American, at least use real white American...not the yellow stuff that requires you to peal each slice out of a plastic wrapper. the roll was also dry and crispy. Not soft and dense like a good Amoroso roll that is used in Philly. Bottom line, these people that say they are from Philly need to go back for a refresher course on the cheese steak. I recommend Tony Luc's or Jim's on South Street.

Pros: Meatball sandwich was not too bad.

Cons: The cheese steak was not even edible.

Wow, Growing up in Philly(Overbrook) there was a sandwich shop on every other corner.
One in Twenty of these places was worth going to. The Rest were like Moochies.

I saw this on DDD, Guy, You need to go to Philly to Tony Luc;s or Jim's, Geno's or Pat.s.

This place was unorganized for the amount of business. Maybe because the DDD was on the night before. There was not enough seating. I ended up eating this grease sponge in my car. What a mistake.
The staff was confused at best. Another issue I had was the condiment setup was in and area where all the customers kind of merged upon it from all directions reaching over one another s food. Kind of gross.
You had to pay extra for Provolone. They did not have WIZ Hmmm Philly Cheese Steak, in most circles the Cheese part ='s Wiz. I did not try the Meatballs so they may be Ok but then again who cant make Meatballs. All in all I would not recommend this place to anyone it was really not worth the trip into SLC in my opinion.

K! So i took my family (4). We ordered, Philly cheese steak, Meatball, Pizza steak and the chicken parmigiana sandwiches. And OH BOY! was it the best ever! I'm for sure going back for more! We had a split decision on which sandwich out of the 4 was the best. I preferred the Philly and my daughter was in love with the Meatball! I will be hard pressed not to order the Philly again but I will try to try something else on the menu! Oh! and the hospitality was wonderful! Very friendly people! Make sure to try their brownies! YES! we pigged out! I'm ready for a nap.

You can?t go wrong with either the philly cheesesteak or the meatball sandwich?both are excellent. Although I wouldn?t call myself an authority, the Philly cheesesteak sandwich is right up there with the best I?ve ever had.

The only cons, which in my opinion are outweighed by the quality of the sandwiches, are: 1.) that there isn?t a ton of seating, so if there is any crowd at all you?re out of luck?we mostly take out 2.) their 10:30 ? 3:30 operation hours (although they have improved them with their new Thurs, Fri, Sat schedule of 10:30 ? 7:30) 3.) The sandwiches are a little on the pricey side.
