young family dental, in orem, is a joke. I received services today and had 4 teeth filed. the dentist spent a total of 10 minutes on my mouth the entire time i was in the office. The amount of time spent on my mouth was less then it takes someone to use the bathroom. During my visit the "doctor" treated me like a piece of trash that was below him, he made no eye contact and gave a smirk with every question i asked. If this wasn't bad enough, the second he was done with his little 10 minute procedure he said " oh, i hate to do this but your prices are going to be close to double what we quoted you because the cavity was deeper then exams showed," knowing i don't have insurance, and would be forced to line the inside of his pockets regardless of the truth or not. Any professional would give me a higher estimate before doing any work whatsoever. If you like greed and disrespect this is the place for you... YOUNG FAMILY DENTAL GIVES ALL DENTISTS A BAD NAME. Save yourself money and self respect and avoid these A**holes at all costs.

Dr. Young is really friendly and nice, until he knows he has you locked in. I'm quite worried at this point for not only my health, but how this dentist has been able to continue practicing. After being stuck with Dr. Young for nearly a year, I can only conclude that he has been fortunate enough to stay in business because of the demographics of his clientele. I have noticed a large majority of his patients do not speak english as a primary language, pay primarily in cash, and/or are elderly patients. I have noticed this pattern during my 13 visits I have had this year. I believe he takes advantage of those unable to perform internet searches, as well as those that may feel they have no where else to go. I know that I feel like a fool for continuing to use Dr. Young's services for almost a year, but I felt trapped. Each visit there was some additional work he happened to notice that I needed, and often, there was additional work that "must be performed immediately" during the course of a procedure. Please, for the sake of your overall health see another dentist, ANY other dentist. If for some reason you must see Dr. Young or, you already have and are scheduled for another appointment, CANCEL. Get a second opinion from an honest dentist. There are many dentists that took became a dentist not just for the money, but because the enjoy improving patients health and appearance. Good luck to you in finding another dentist

Wish I would have seen this some of the reviews from this site before I went to Young Family Dental. Funny how all the good statements are very brief... makes you wonder who actually wrote them. Worst dental experience I have had. I can't add anything more to what was said in the previous comments about the dishonesty, poor treatment, and disrespect attributed to this office. Don't waste your time, there are PLENTY of other good, even mediocre dentists out there, there's no need to give a poorly trained, dishonest dentist your business.

SCAM ARTISTS! This office is sooooooo shady, I'm not sure how Chris Young has not had license suspended yet. I have had 1 cavity in my entire life, I was told I had 7 cavities! I was shocked! I thought oh well, I guess I have to have it fixed... SO, Chris worked on my teeth, and told me the cavities were quite invasive, and that I would need root canals for 4 of them as he was working on my mouth. At this point I, I became quite skeptical to what Chris was telling me. I had my x-rays faxed over to another dental office for a second opinion. Come to find out, I had TWO CAVITIES! TWO!!!!!! As a health care provider, I am appalled by the lack of care and consideration Chris Young and his staff have for their patients. Dr. Young runs his business in the same fashion the classic used-car salesman would. When I asked his staff for a quote of they work to be performed they knowingly gave me a quote as if my insurance would cover all the services. When I pointed out my insurance maximum, and asked what would be my approximate bill they told me it was very difficult to know. It truly is not that difficult to figure out which treatments will be covered and which will not, especially when it is your job/career to understand how to work with insurance. In addition, they told me an "over estimate" of what my out-of-pocket responsibility would be. After the work was finished Dr. Young was conveniently no where to be found. My bill was more than double the "over estimated" quote because Dr. Young decided to add a number of services (of which a later found to be unnecessary). No mention of additional work was ever brought to my attention by Chris, nor any staff members until the time of payment. I will never use Chris's services again. It is sad and pathetic when one is fortunate enough to be endowed as a healthcare provider making a wonderful income, yet still feels the need to deceive their patients for some extra cash

I am basing this review off of many, many visits to this dental group. The only reason I kept going back is because my procedure was never complete. First of all, I had problems with the billing. I probably know more than the average person about insurance, but I also seemed to know more about the fee schedules and payment amounts than most of the billing staff there. I was overcharged for services and then not notified that I had a refund waiting for me at the office. It wasn't until my next visit, three months later, that I found out that I had about $100 waiting to be returned to me. I wish that was all...\n\nMy husband went for a regular checkup and they told him he had SIX cavities. In his life he had only ever had one, so six was a lot. We went to another dentist for a second opinion and they told him he had one small cavity. That's a BIG difference.\n\nOnce when I was getting two fillings, one on each side, I was feeling pain when the dentist was drilling into my teeth. I signaled for him to stop and he told me to just hang on since it would be over soon. I've had my fair share of root canals and have never had problems. He continued filling these two teeth with tears streaming down my face. At a later visit, I tried to signal the dental assistant to not spray cold water directly on my teeth because they were sensitive, and once again this same dentist told me to hold on, that it would be over shortly. So once again, I had to deal with discomfort.\n\nFinally, I had a tooth that I got a root canal on but the infection wouldn't go away. I went back to the office for an entire YEAR trying to resolve the issue and they just kept trying to fix it but didn't really ever explain why it wasn't healing. Finally, I went to an endodontist who told me that my tooth had been perforated, probably by the dentist at Young Family who gave me the initial root canal, and that my tooth couldn't be saved. By this point, I had paid Young Family for a root canal and a crown. That's about $1000 down the drain. Now I am in the process of getting an implant since the tooth has been extracted. Thanks to Young Family, I have spent about $2000 on this problem, and will still have to pay for a new crown.\n\nI have nothing good to say about Young Family Dental. I now go to Ryan Hamilton in south Provo and he and his entire staff are amazing!

I was told that there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with my fillings and that there would be no reason to consider replacing them. Steer clear of Young Family Dental! They are on a mission to take your money, whether you actually need dental work or not.

Joy was a wonderful heigentist and I would highly recomend here to all my family and friends. Chris Young is a great dentist and was very good with meeting all my expectations and needs while I was there as well as answering all my questions I may have had. DO NOT go to Young Family Dental. I had a terrible experience with them and still paying for it. I went in to get my teeth cleaned and have a cavity fixed. They did not schedule enough time to do my cleaning so I had to come back in to finish my cleaning. When they did my filling they did a terrible job and my tooth still hurt so they had me come back a second time to fix it. They adjusted the height of the filling and then told me to see if that fixes it and that it may take several months before it feels completely better. So weeks and months had gone by and my tooth still hurt so I called and asked them if they could take a look at it since it still hurt. They said they would be happy to look at it and take more xrays but that I would have to pay for the appointments and xrays and then any work that they would have to do to fix it. I was very upset because they told me I could come back to have them fix it if it still hurt but now they want me to pay more money to them because they cannot do a basic filling. I would not recommend that anyone go here because of their lack of expertise and their DISHONESTY. They are just trying to get as much money out of their customers and not really help them. I have a few friends who have gone there and have said they will never go back either because they are so bad. Save some money and pain and find a different dentis

I felt you were more ""involved"" with my dental situation than the dentist last year where I had a molar pulled on the the upper side. I need resources to pay for the services which my present insurance doesn't cover for my remaining 23 teeth. Funny, the tooth pulled was ""loose"" but the root that broke off was a bear to remove. If it was so light the tooth shouldnt have moved! New dental technology seems like it could save to augment many of my remaining teeth. Thanks again for the care I received.
