Unethical, Overpriced, and RUDE!!! Neerings charged $600 to replace a $14 part that took them 30 minutes to install! My spouse did not know how outrageous this was and went ahead with the service because we had no hot water in the house and two little kids. When I returnd home from a stay in the hospital I called them to disucss and they would not even talk to me. The owner said, "we know what it costs to make a profit in this business..."

Neerings replaced a bad boiler circulation pump, it went bad again in 11 months. The plumber quoted $683 to replace it, including the manufacturers warranty. I called the service manager thinking there must be some mistake. He said he would check with the plumber and call me back, he never called. After 5 days of my little girl's room being cold I called him back. He said he was sorry, he'd "been busy." He offered to lower the price to $620. I had Nelsons Plumbing from Syracuse replace it, their charge was $350, it was done in 1 day. We should probably feel sorry for the Neerings service manager, he must deal with unhappy customers all day long.

Checking the so called "reviewers" who give Neerings 5 stars will reveal that the vast majority of them have written hundreds of gushingly positive reviews of businesses all over the country, and that THEY DON'T EVEN LIVE IN UTAH.

Does Neerings subscribe to some type of service to get all these positive reviews to offset the negative comments by real people? Who knows?

My experience is like many of the others. Our water heater pilot light wouldn't stay lit and so I called Neerings. I told the dispatcher we had a Whirlpool water heater 5 years old and asked if the service tech would have whatever part needed to fix it. I was assured he did.

The tech showed up, put an attachment on his shop vac, and vacuumed under the unit. Then he told me that if this didn't work that the pilot assembly would need to be replaced. Of course, he didn't have one, but he said I could order one from Whirlpool. He charged me $55 to run his vacuum for 2 minutes. But hey, Neerings boasts that they don't charge a cent for a service call.

Of course the pilot kept going out and my wife needed to wash and do laundry. I had to go out of town the next morning and so we decided she would call Neerings to install a new water heater we could depend on. The tech quoted her $1033 to install a 40 gallon water heater, and she reluctantly agreed knowing that it was a lot more than we had paid for the Whirlpool and to get it installed.

When I got home I saw the new Bradford White water heater and she told me the price. I figured it was ok since Bradford White makes some 40 gallon models in the $750 - 800 range. When I checked the price of the model Neerings installed, it was about $330 including sales tax which means we were charge $750 for a two hour installation of a $330 water heater.

I called Mike Dixon at Neerings twice and discussed my concerns that the salesman took advantage of my wife's lack of experience with appliances and that the prices they charged were not fair and reasonable considering the work done.

Of course Mike disagreed with all of my arguments and came across like somehow he expected his customers to subsidize his "high overhead" by paying these exorbitant prices. On one occasion he refused to furnish me with a receipt breaking down the cost of the water heater and the cost of the installation, like most other service companies do.

I feel that if the serviceman had been upfront with my wife and told her that she was getting a $300 water heater with a $700 installation charge, that there is no way she would have agreed to the installation. This "inclusive" price quote policy that the company strictly adheres to seems to be deceptive in that it disguises the actual cost of the labor to install.

I will never, ever use Neerings Plumbing again and will recommend that others stay away as well. I feel as if Mike Dixon and Troy Neerings reached into my pocket and stole the $500 extra the job cost beyond what a fair and reasonable price would have been.

Just had these crooks come to my home for a Air conditioner repair. Was quoted $700+ for a part that was under warranty. A fan motor, 4 bolts and 3 wires. They look to take advantage of people in a bad situation. Save your time and money look Else where.

I contacted this company to perform a minor plumbing repair at my home. The technician described the work to be performed. I questioned the price, as it seemed quite expensive. The technician then described how they use such expensive, quality parts and how he would need to replace a certain amount of plumbing. After he was done, I inspected his work because I was surprised that he was done so quickly. Only a portion of the plumbing was replaced that he said needed to be replaced. I again questioned the price. He stated that the price was correct. Not wanting to get into a confrontation in my own home, I paid the technician and then immediately contacted the company. I was told that they would look into it and someone would return my call. No one ever called me back. I placed more calls to the company with no return calls until they discovered I had placed a stop payment on my check. I then spoke with more people, and finally to Troy Neerings. All I was trying to do was settle the issue and pay them what the work warranted. Mr. Neerings was very unprofessional, threatening and completely unwilling to hear what had happened. Do not use this company. There are much better, reasonable and more professional companies out there.
