Gecko's Mexican Grill

Geckos is GREAT for Large (20+) groups or small. Their servers are well trained and FRIENDLY. The food TASTES WONDERFUL, and the PORTION SIZES are great. The environment is casual...perfect for a RELAXING night out. We will frequent Geckos VERY often! Thanks for such a great night out!

We love Gecko's! My husband, teenagers, and I have been clients of Gecko's since they opened. We love the peaceful atmosphere and the freshly made food. All of the food is made fresh daily... even the salsa. My only complaint about the place is that the refried beans are kinda bland. The staff is friendly, service is quick, food is good, and the price is perfect. This is a great place to chat, relax, and enjoy the food.

Don't go here if you're looking for a noisy, over-priced cookie cutter restaurant. I also wouldn't recommend Gecko's if you're out to impress a date. However, if you are looking for somewhere to relax, eat a good meal with your wife and/or family, this is the kind of place you're looking for.

Decent prices, good food and quick service with a family friendly atmosphere make this a favorite for my family. My wife and my kids love it and I don't have to put up with the kind of noisy atmosphere you'll get at somewhere like a Chilis/Applebees/Wingers etc.

Based on the price and the easy dining experience I don't think you can beat it. Don't expect what you would get when paying 4 times as much and you won't be disappointed. But don't be surprised if you get what you would expect paying twice as much.

BTW, I don't think they serve alcohol nor are they open on Sunday. Since this is not an issue for me I haven't lowered their rating, but if it is for you, be forewarned.

I'm not sure where these few negative postings are coming from. My wife and I eat at Geckos all the time. The food is good the service is fast. Continuous refills on drinks. Matter of fact, we are always amazed at how quickly our order comes out, and it is always hot.

As a regular customer, I would highly recommend this place. Keep in mind, when reading the few negative comments, that there are always a few people that are never satisfied with anything. They live miserable lives blaming everyone and everything for their own problems.

My husband and I had a coupon to Gecko's from our Entertainment book for buy a meal, get one free. So, loving Mexican food, we decided to try it out. Big mistake! All I can say is good thing we had a coupon to this place. We ate here on a Saturday evening and the place was almost empty. That should've been our first clue ! The server took forever to get us anything. He brought our food but no silverware. He took about 10 minutes to get the silverware for us and the food was cold by then. I had a chicken taco salad and the chicken tasted like they hadn't seasoned it at all! Bland, bland, bland. We were never brought refills on our sodas or even asked if we wanted any. Finally I asked for a refill and our server brought it to me as we were literally getting up to leave after paying the bill. We won't go back to this place even with a coupon.

Ok so the food is good and the service is great, but only when the owner is there!! My family used to eat here all the time but the last three have been awful, and of course I had bragged to everyone who went with us how great it was and looked like a fool. Cold food, orders messed up, half of the party never getting there food, and being over charged. This has happened three time in 2007. So as for us we will never go back unless i call first and the owner is there.

This is a favorite for my whole family. The food and service...excellent. I recommend anything Chile Verde. Their lunch special choice #4 is perfect. Portions are great and you can't beat the price. The manager always comes and talks with us...super friendly. Gecko's...Well done!!!!

Beans, rice, and tortillas are freshly made daily with no animal-derived ingredients. They will make pretty much anything vegan or vegetarian upon request, and are friendly and competent about it.
During the daytime the owner is usually right there interacting with customers and employees, he is very friendly and answers all of your questions or concerns helpfully. Employees are ALWAYS friendly, fast, and accurate in what they do. The food is delicious, reasonably priced, and served quickly!
If you go during busy meal times it is noisy and very crowded, a fountain at the front of the dining area encourages unsupervised children to wander. The employees are great and understanding about changing your order to-go or providing containers to take food out should these things make you nervous.

I used the reviews here as a recommendation, so I had to let everyone know that this place sucks.

Strike One: Salsa tastes like it came out of a can.

Strike Two: Food is just bad. The Chile Verde bowl tasted like a bowl of black pepper. The rice was weird and bland. I am not sure what kind of rice they use but, it could have been Minute Rice. The beans were undercooked. Others in the party had tacos, enchiladas, etc. There was lots of uneaten food, because it was all bad.

Strike three: No beer, or cocktails. I need beer or a margarita to go with my Mexican food, especially if its bad. They should have sign stating that on the door so people can turn around.

Where I come from its three strikes and your out. Thats $50.00 that would have been better thrown in the trash.

I love Gecko's. I work for another local mexican restaraunt and I visit Gecko's on very regular basis. I'd like to pull their cooks to my place. It's quick and tastes fantastic. The portions are huge. Very comfortable atmosphere.

My husband & I have been frequenting Geckos for a couple of years. We love it. The portions are huge, the food is always great, and the service is usually pretty speedy. It's not an upscale place, but it's Mexican food - it's not suppose to be. We drive all the way from Sugarhouse when we're in the mood for Mexican.

My family and I are frequent patrons to Gecko's Mexican Grill and I've never had cause for complaint. The food is well priced and absolutely delicious. The restaurant is very clean and has an inviting atmosphere for parties, families and good times. My favorite entree is the Chile Verde Nachos Grande. And they have the largest serving of fried ice cream that I've ever found; it's divine. Gecko's is a great place with excellent service and terrefic food. Take your friends and family to my favorite place and you'll surely leave full and satisfied!

Nothing to complain about. Even though I rated the restaurant with 8's, it was a good experience. The 8 just means it's not a 5-star joint. Service was great and quick and the food tasted great.
