The pizza at Settebello is just like you can get in Italy, love the crust! Our server was really poor, she was very slow, took forever to get our checks then completely messed them up, then was not nice at all when we had her redo it, not a great experience.

I wish that the price was a little lower so that more people could enjoy the tasty pizza that they have to offer. It is much better though than California Pizza in most places. I like thin-crust pizza, it is my favorite. I also like the Gelato that they serve. Pizza is still well priced, It is worth it to give it a try.
Go there. Trust me.

I have been hooked on Settebello's pizza for a couple of years now, however since the departure of their Italian Chef at the beginning of the year the quality of the pizza has declined. However the staff made me feel welcomed so I continue to go. I have been 3 or 4 times this past month and even the service is no longer there. That on top of the poor quality pizza is enough to send me back to The Pie. What has happened to this place it used to be so amazing.

i have been looking for a place like this, i love this place. it totally reminds me of my home in europe. service is good, pizzas and salads even better. the wine and beer are super, and atmosphere is always so up beat.
and you have to try the gellatos, they make 'em so good.
i just wish there was no wait for table but its worth it

My wife and I have actually had pizza in Naples Italy, and this is as real as you can get. My best suggestion is to go when you're hungry. The pizzas are thin, but cover the whole plate. And trust me, you're not only going to want to eat the whole thing, you'll want to try their gelato afterwards, too. If you have never eaten a pizza and thought to yourself, "that was healthy", then I would highly recommend the Margarita pizza. Fresh mozzarella, crushed tomatos, olive oil, and fresh basil - what's not to love. Fortunately, I didn't stop with that one, though. We've been back about a dozen times and I am slowly working my way through their entire menu. My second best suggestion is to go during off-peak hours; the food is so good there is a waiting list otherwise. To top it all off, the owner is very nice and the atmosphere is upbeat and modern.

Cons: You park like you are in downtown Salt Lake.

Having only been to Italy once and never to Naples, I am no expert. Normally, I am a fan of Sbarro, I love thin pizza... Anyway, back to Settebello. I loved this place! The pizza is thin and delicious. My 8 yr. old son came with and he ate 4 pieces himself! I love the taste and amount of sauce, the cheese didn't have as much flavor as I like, but nonetheless, it was mmmmm, mmmmm, good! The basil tasted fresh and with a little extra on top, it just added to the flavor. After finishing one pizza, we quickly asked for another! Cooking time was minimal, so if you are looking for a quick and well-worth-it lunch, this is a great place! I went during the day and it wasn't full, so I don't know how it would be in the evening or on the weekend. But I fully intend to find out, and soon! I may just be addicted to this place! Which won't be great for my budget, but it is well worth it! It looked like the pizza was about 10 inches and it was about 10.00 for the basic, "cheese" pizza. (Which is called the Margherita.) But I recommend everyone try this place at least once! (I read other reviews and some complained about the "burnt" crust. It is the result of the wood-burning oven. From what I know, that makes it more authentic. There were spots of burnt, but, as someone who hates anything burnt, this was not bad and didn't really effect the taste for me. The other ingredients more than covered it up.) I am waiting to go back, and not patiently either!

I miss Napoli ( Naples to everyone else ) after having spent a portion of my life there. One of the things I miss most was the food. This Pizza takes me back. It is so close to being 100% authentic, I would say it is like 97% of the way there, which considering how far away Italy is, it's close enough for me. The pizza is delicious.

The only complaint I had, had nothing to do with the pizza, it was that they used plain mozzerella on the Caprese, but considering mozzarella di bufala is a little more pricey and some people find it too powerful I understand its lack of use . However they seasoned the caprese perfectly, they added salt to the tomato before placing the mozzerella on so that the tomato flavor really came out and complimented the mozzerella. The perfect addition of Basil and Olive oil was just right too, so even though there was no mozzarella di bufala it was still very good. And the portion size of the caprese was good for the price.

One note, since these are thinner pizza's then the American ones and somewhat small you can probably eat one yourself, or at least 2/3rds of one. This can get a little expensive ( a Margherita will run you $10.00 ) but what it costs in price it makes up for in quality.

If real italian pizza is a must have then you have to go to SetteBello. I can't wait to go there again. Oh a margherita, che buona!!!!

After returning from Naples and eating pizza there, I thought I would never be satisfied with pizza is the U.S again, especially pizza in Utah. We heard about Settebello's when it first opened and went down to try it. We were amazed at how favorably it compared with the pizza we had eaten at "da Michele" in Napes. We found ourselves in Naples again this past October and made the trek to "da Michele". Once again we were impressed how well Settebello measures up. To those that complained that the crust was burnt; that is exactly the way it came to our table in Naples. The main difference is they put a little more cheese on the pizza at Settebello. I hate to say this but I almost prefer the pizza at Settebello. It's also a lot closer.

Pros: Best pizza in town. Very friendly staff.

Cons: Very noisy and crowded on the weekend.

Stellar pizza and gelato. The people who work there are really cool; especially the owner who took the time to make sure our meal was satisfactory and who was kind enough to suffer though a few of our stories of misadventure in Naples. This place really is one of Utah?s Best. I recommend the Diavola pizza and the Nutella gelato.

Settebello has brought authentic napoli style pizza to SLC. It is delicious and as a frequent diner I have to say the recent post on how they treat their staff unfairly is very disturbing. The manager is nothing but friendly, honest, and hard working. I am positive that the person who is attempting to boycott this establishment is probably a disgruntled ex-employee who is upset about losing such a wonderful job, and should just move on instead of dwelling over the fact that they got caught doing something inappropriate.

Thank you for bringing us your perfect pizza, it is amazing and I understand why it is so difficult to get in. I have to have my fix every few days, and the new gelateria addition is fantastic. It is just impossible to choose a flavor. FYI the manager told me to call down and put my name on the list before I come and I have never had to wait more then 5 to 10 minutes for a table. Try it! It works.

This pizza is fantastic. I've tried LOADS of thin crust, wood-fired pizzas and have never found the like.

To the reviewers that call it "inauthentic," this restaurant is one that is actually certified by an organization from Italy aimed at preserving the integrity and authenticity of true Napoli style pizza. Many of the ingredients have to be imported from Italy, and they must follow strict guidelines about preparation (down to approved mixing machines) in order to qualify. Then an individual from the organization has to come and verify that it's all being done correctly. There are only a handful of restaurants in the U.S. that can claim this honor, and Salt Lake's Settebello is one of them. Check out their web site for the full story on this.

Maybe this kind of pizza just isn't your thing, but if you don't like this kind of pizza, you don't like authentic Napoli style pizza.

The wait time can be ridiculous, and I hate that they don't take reservations for parties smaller than eight. But this is, unfortunately, true of most Salt Lake restaurants.

Very friendly and slightly casual dining area. Very helpful menu and staff. The food is so fresh and so delicious! Some pizza places you'll order a good enough pizza but five bites later you're pretty much sick of it already. My friend and I were pleasantly surprised to keep going and in the end not feel gross and greased out. Such a great place! Go there. And go again!

Fantastic thin crust pizza that comes straight from the restaurants authentic wood burning oven. This is what I imagine real Italian pizza tastes like! We thought there was a mistake when we were served a whole pizza pie that wasn't sliced into pieces for us.

As a pizza connoiseur, having enjoyed pizza in Naples at the restaurant where it was invented, I was very happy to discover Settebello. It is probably as close to authentic as you can get in Utah, and has high quality ingredients. The Diavola and Lasagne are favorites (although I recommend foregoing the garlic on the Diavola---it overpowers the flavor of the pie). The only drawback is the atmosphere---the restaurant feels a bit "fast foody": it is hollow, sterile, and noisy. I wish it had a more inviting atmosphere in which to linger over the quality food.

I AM SICILLIAN AND FUSSY ABOUT PIZZA
I ORDERED THE MARGARETA
BUT THEY BURNED THE CRUST (TWICE) AND
IT MADE THE PIZZA BITTER, THE SAUCE
WAS OK BUT LACKED SEASONING AND
THE CHEESE WAS WAXY.
FREEWHEELER ALTHOUGH THEY JUST
DELIVER OR TAKE OUT IS WAY BETTER!

Took my wife the other night and had a ball! What a great, fun environment, fantastic pizza, and good service. For such a small place with all the people I think the service is awesome. It was tough getting through the menu, cuase it is so differant from what you are used to. Don't think of it as a pizza joint! The food in sooo good, wonderful crust. I can not wait to go back and try another one! I got the Settebello, with pine nuts. I'm a bit picky so I was worried about it, but boy was I suprised! You better get in there asap before the whole valley knows about this place

OK pizza. The sauce is not seasoned properly. The crust is ok. It's not like pizza in naples which is what it seems like they are trying to recreate. If you want truly good pizza go to Rusted Sun Pizzeria or eat the Fat Kid pizza served in the Sidecar in Park City. Both have GREAT thin crust pizza probably the best in UT.

The pizza couldn't be better-fresh ingredients, awesome fresh mozz and "vera" pizza (if you know what that means, you'll know how good this must be)...Service leaves a lot to be desired. Prices are a little high and salads are definitely not worth the price. Skip the gelato--your wallet will thank you (it's $5 for a tiny scoop)!

I went on a Thursday night around 6:45 and it wasn't too crowded. We got our seats promptly. The restaurant is nice inside with neat colors and pictures. The waitress was very friendly. I usually share a pizza, but this time we ordered our own, which was a good idea since we ate them both. I had the lasagna pizza and was surprised how quickly it was ready. The pizza was not sliced and thin. The ingredients seemed light and fresh. The flavors were absolutely delicious, with the basil, sausage and cheese. I?m still thinking about it today! I had some chocolate chip gelato and left very full! I will definitely be going back for more, this place is great!

I was on my way somewhere else and stopped here instead. This reminds me of Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix...wood fired oven, simple fresh ingredients...only without the hype. There were many families, couples, and groups...seemed like a great place for casual quality dining. I started with an arugula salad with an olive oil/lemon/sea salt dressing. The pizza I ordered had different toppings on each quarter, which gave me a taste of everything. I ended it with pistachio gelato. Dinner, including a nice glass of wine, cost $31...not bad and well within expense account acceptability.

This was an awesome find - I would recommend this to anyone looking for authentic pizza, a nice atmosphere, and friendly, efficient service.

Having lived in - and visited italy - and having felt the homesickness of not being able to experience the sites, people, and food on a regular basis, Sette Bello is a "taste of home!" If you don't care for this pizza, then you don't like real Italian pizza. We have dined as a couple, and have held two large gatherings - all with excellent and friendly service. Through my visits I have had the opportunity to taste every pizza on the menu and although I prefer simplicity (the margherita), all the pizzas were excellent. You may have a wait if you go on a weekend (there must be a reason why so many people like to eat there), but it is worth the wait. Go on a weekday or during lunch. I have tried the "authentic Italian pizza" in every city I have ever visited, looking for the taste I remeber in Italy. I may coninue tasting, but the search for the real thing has ended at Sette Bello. Oh . . . can I only give it five stars?

Pros: Food, friendly service, that slight ash flavor on the bottom of the pizza - great! Good price.

Cons: Aranciata (drink) is pricey. I was tempted to bring my own can.

Wow...amazing. I agree with the review that said if you like rubbery pizza with canned toppings go somewhere else. Parking is ridiculously awful but the fresh mozz and basil (Margherita) makes up for it. Definitely agree that you should go in the afternoon--wait times can be over 30 minutes even on the weeknights!

If you want American pizza slathered in greasy processed cheese, dehydrated (just add water) tomato sauce, and a heavy cluttering of bland toppings then go to Pizza Hut or Dominos. Settebello is not for you and frankly, you probably won't like the pizza you have at Settebello.

However, if you want pizza the way it was intended to be; light, simple, flavorful, then go to Settebello. At Settebello you taste EVERY COMPONENT of the pizza: the crust, the tomatoes, the cheese, the flavorful toppings.

This pizza is the real deal. It tastes and smells exactly like the pizzas I ate in Italy. Cooked in a 900 degree stone oven with a little soot on the bottom. Perfetta!

All pizzas are one size: about 12" in diameter. They arrive at your table uncut. Each pizza serves one person.

-Margherita: My favorite. Simple elegance. Tomatoes, cheese, basil, and basta! It's all you need for an amazing tasting pizza. This pizza melts in your mouth. You've never tasted mozzerella like this.

-Diavola: The spicy devil. The roasted peppers make this pizza a gem. Just the right amount of garlic and spice. Perfect simple combination of meat and veggies.

-Settebello: a little cluttered in my opinion but still wonderful. The pine nuts give this pizza a refreshing texture.

-Lasagna pizza: Fresh, light ricotta cheese gives this pizza a flavor you won't forget. Again, simplicity is the key here. The roasted mushrooms are a perfect addition here. More toppings do not a pizza make.

-Del Cafone: (Translated: the fool's pizza) This pizza was a breath of fresh air. A perfect balance of spicy/sweet. Onions, garlic, basil, sausage. What isn't there to like about this one?

The word about this place is out. If you go during dinner time on the weekend prepare for a long wait. The pizzas come out quickly but you can still have to wait upwards of an hour for a table.

Wait times during lunch aren't nearly as long.

Buon appettito!

Pros: Fresh ingredients, authentic taste, selection, location

Cons: Lack of parking, long wait times on weekends

I've heard about Settebello Pizzeria since they opened early this year. My friends have raved about how the pizza there is just like it is in Italy. Finally, I decided to check the place out. My boyfriend and I went in last night. Being a Saturday, we expected a long wait, and of course it was an hour. The place was packed. We were seated after waiting about 45 minutes. The wait was worth it. Our waitress was very friendly. Even though the place was packed, she took the time to tell us about the pizza there, and make a few wonderful recommendations. We were surprised at how quickly our pizzas were delivered to us. The waitress told us the pizzas cook in less than one minute. The pizzas were beautiful, and tasted just like Italy. This place is our new favorite place to go for pizza.

We went on saturday early evening. When we left the place was packed, so go early or prepare to wait. Pizza was good but came to the table before server had brought plates. So, while the pizza got cold, the server opened and poured our wine then finally brought plates. If you plan on sharing pizza in a large group, you might consider ordering them a few at a time instead of all at once. It's noisy in there and the older folks in our group found it tough to have a conversation. Nevertheless it's a good addition to the downtown dining scene.

I heard about Settebello from a few friends that tried this place after they read the write up in the SL Trib. So my husband and I tried this place out on a Wednesday night and the parking downtown was still difficult - regardless we only had a 15 minute wait once inside the restaurant. While waiting we were entertained by watching the hustle and bustle of the place. Once seated our waitor pleasantly greeted us and took our order and recommend a fabulous wine that we really enjoyed. We each got a pizza because we like different things plus who does't like leftover pizza!?!?! Anyway, my pizza was perfect. I adore thin crust pizzas cooked to perfection and I am not a fan of pizza drowning in pizza sauce and this was everything but - my husband knew I was in heaven because of the freshness of the ingredients, the superb thin crust and the fact there was no "red" sauce. Maybe it's the Italian in me, but I highly recommend this place. The atmosphere is simple and quite noisy but I give props to Settebello for already being so successful. Keep up the good work.

I read about Settebello in a local newspaper and was excited to dine at the new restaraunt. I checked out the menu online, and knew what I wanted to order when I got there. I was roaring to go. My boyfriend and I showed up at 8 p.m. on a Friday night. We put our name on the list, and accepted that it would be an hour wait for a table.

We were finally seated an hour later. Ten minutes after we were seated our server asked for our beverage order. The drinks showed up within a reasonable amount of time, however, we still sat at the table twiddling our thumbs for 10 minutes while we waited for water, and our drinks. We were ready to order when the drinks showed up, but our server was too rushed to take our order. Some time later the server returned, and we placed our order.

We watched massive pizza's and calzone's be delivered in pairs to tables around us. We commented that those were some of the largest pie's we had ever seen served to a single person. Other than watching the gigantic portions, and the deadening noise of the restaraunt, we sat in coversation while we waited for our massive pies. We waited and waited. Time seemed to stand still at this restaraunt.

The pies arrived, unsliced as advertised. They were nice to look at, covered in our choice of vegetables. We tore off peices of the pie in anticipation of an explosion of robust tomatoes, and olive oil. Instead, the first bite was less than expected.

Bland crust, and a sauce comparable to generic sauce out of a can. The most flavor on the pie was the burnt areas on the crust.

Whenever I crave pizza; I will skip the crowds and the blandness, and head to Este's for a slice of heaven.
