We went here on the recommendation of a local. We showed up around 8pm without a reservation, The matre d?? told us it would be about 45 minutes, ok so we figured we would sit at that bar and have a drink. His assistant came up to us about 15 minutes later and told us we would be seated next, as we headed back to our table they handed me a red rose, which they do for all the ladies, a nice touch, but the maitre d' then proceeded to tell us that really we were not next his assistant made a mistake, but he would seat us any way....uh thanks. Anyways, the place is very old school, you have a "staff" waiting on you..which I almost found silly as we placed our order, then the second waiter came to take our order also a few minutes later. I ordered the lobster, which I enjoyed, my boyfriend order rack of lamb, which he did not like. They make your salad to order in front of you which was cool. All the wait staff was very nice. Between salad and the entree they gave you sorbet to cleanse your palate. They had a nice selections of deserts, but we did not get one, but they gave us a nice platter of chocolate dipped fruit. All in all, it was nice, but probably would not go back again.

My wife and I just got back from a trip to Vegas and ate at Hugo's Cellar for the first time. I'm not sure about the two reviews before mine (They seem to have a personal beef with someone). Our experience was great. We had reservations, but arrived early and were seated anyway without issue by a friendly hostess. Our two servers were Michael and Anthony. Both of them were very attentive and knowledgeable about the food and proper restaurant etiquette. Our food was cooked to perfection and was equally as tasty. Our salad's and everyone else's salad (that I could see) were prepared in front of the tables. The price was not cheap, but at the same time I have ate at many other Vegas restaurants that cost more with much less to offer. We rarely travel off the Strip to eat, but from now on Hugo's Cellar will be one of our destinations every time we visit Vegas

We have been going to Hugo's Cellar for years. They lost their touch. Food was just okay. Salad use to be tossed right in front of you but the dressing is just poured on. Hostess needs to improve on her people skills.

the hostess seats my friend and i (two males) and returns 30 minutes later when were on our salad course to say that my friend is not wearing appropriate attire and offers a stiff white chef's shirt. my friend wore a sleeveless vest w/ jeans and leather shoes. the dress code is "neat casual". we saw men w/ t-shirts, shorts and flip-flops. no problem for them, but she suddenly had a problem w/ my friend. i say suddenly because she didn't have a problem when she greeted us and sat us earlier. she personally apologized to me later, upon which i dismissed her attempt as i find her decision-making on this matter to be indecisive and weak. i'll never eat their again, i told at least ten of my friends and will not stay or play at that hotel anymore.

We?ve been going to Hugo?s for the last 14 yrs for our anniversary, the first couple of years were great but as time progressed the food wasn?t up to par ( very inconsistent) and their prices went up. The steaks were just ok, not something you?d expect at a high end restaurant, the best thing they have going for them is the salad they prepare at the table with your choice of add ons, that?s pretty much it..
We skipped this year?s anniversary dinner and went to Outback? believe it or not, they were far better than Hugo?s, so what that it?s not as cozy but I care more about better food and service, I think our trips to Hugo?s are a thing of the past? which frankly I don?t mind?.

None to speak of. Food was not well prepared. Service was Ok. It was not up to the usual dining experiences in Las Vegas.

My girlfriend and I had planned a trip to LV. We live in Guadalajara, Mexico. So I had the idea of looking for a nice place to have dinner there, and propose! The place had to be really special. I was lucky to find some reviews of Hugo's Cellar in the internet, and based on the good comments I read I decided it was the right place. I made my reservation for Hugo's Cellar over the internet, and received the confirmation in less than 24 hours.

When we arrived there, we were asked to wait for 15 minutes, since we arrived a little earlier, but we actually were seated in less than 5 minutes. A bouquet of flowers that I had ordered with another company was already on our table.

The service from the start was really good. Two waiters waited on us, one of them was in charge of the bread and the water, and the other was in charge of preparing the salad right next to us, and also the appetizer we ordered, which was the Hugo's Hot Rock Specialty. Both, the salad and the appetizer were very good. The main course was chicken champigion for my girlfriend, and I had the Beef Wellington. Both were excellent. After that, one of the waiters asked us what the special occasion was, and my girlfriend showed him the ring I gave her before we started with the main course. He congratulated us and left, just to come back a couple of minutes later with a delicious chocolate cake, and then the other waiter came with a nice plate of strawberries and figs covered with chocolate, which were beyond delicious. So the service and food were excellent. Too bad that we had to leave early, we wish we had stayed longer, to enjoy the nice atmosphere and maybe try another dessert with a nice coffee. But we will surely come back some time in the future. My girlfriend,- now my fiancee-, was delighted with this restaurant. So was I, it surely met my expectations.

We dined at Hugo's two nights in a row last week, the first time as a couple, the second time with a group of ten. Both times, the food was outstanding; the steaks very tender, the fish fresh and the tableside salad was excellent. The difference between the two nights was the service. When we dined with only two, the service was outstanding. When we were in a large group, the service was less than adequate; water glasses left unfilled, dirty dishes remained on the table, drink orders not taken, excessive waits between courses and we actually had to track someone down to bring the check after a 30 min wait. That being said, the value of this restaurant as a fine dining establishment is unmatched. As opposed to the typical ala carte menu, the meals actually include the salad, a sorbet, vegetables and potato, and a fruit dessert. Overall, I recommend this restaurant for smaller groups.

I have been eating here for years it's one of Vegas best kept secrets! The steak melts in your mouth! They greet woman w/roses at the door and the butter is even rose shaped! If you order a salad they make it fresh at your table w/countless salad toppings. I recomend this for a date, family ocassion or just to treat and pamper yourself once in a while!

was told you have to try hugo's cellar, well i tryed it and wont be back! nothing special about the food, mid grade steak at best, not in the class of any of the prime steakhouses, service was inconsistant, asked for water 3 times before we got it, no real value , it is down town so the prices should be less than on the strip and there not. it is not a horible place, just not a good place ,gourmet dining? i think not!

My wife and I went here on our anniversary and were dissappointed. We had been reccommended Hugo's as romantic and fine dining. We arrived dressed for a fine dining establishment and found many patrons in shorts and baseball caps. It was extremelyy loud, not exactly what I call romantic either. When my wife asked if it was always that loud, they did move us to a better table in the corner. After dinner they asked us if we wanted cappacino or expresso, then came back and said machine was out of order. The food was pretty good and overall service was not that bad. I think had it not been a special occassion and we had not been so overdressed we would have enjoyed it more.

If you want a very romantic, quiet dinner, this is the place to go. The staff goes out of their way to make you happy. The food is very good, has a variety of prices,,,some can be high but being so comfortable you probably won't mind. You are not rushed, if your table isnt ready when you arrive, you can sit at the bar, enjoy some cheese and crackers or make your way to a table located in the front of the restaurant and sit and relax with your drinks. I would definately recommend having reservations, and not trying to just walk in and be seated.
We go here everytime we are in Vegas and its never disappointed us. So if you find yourself Downtown, enjoying Freemont Street, make a point to go into the Four Queens Hotel and Casino and check out Hugos or make a reservation for another night!

We have a girls' group from Cocoa Beach, Florida that goes on an annual gambling trip. Last year we went to Las Vegas and stayed at the Four Queens. I had never heard of Hugo's Cellar, but had not been to Las Vegas in over 17 years and I was a teenager then.

My experience with this restaurant was wonderful! I cannot even describe how impeccable the service was, how friendly and helpful the sommelier and waiter were. The food was excellent but the salad was incredible (we vowed to come back for the salad only because the salad was enough for a meal). We are coming back in August and cannot wait! It is expensive, but it is classified as a special occasion restaurant and it is perfect for that.

My husband and I received gift certificates to Hugo's as a wedding gift and dined there on our honeymoon. I must say it was truly a dining experience. From the moment thehostess set the rose on the table to thetime we left the restaurant everything was perfect. The little touchs, such as the rose butter, the chocolate covered fruit, the real whipped cream served with the coffee, were wonderful. My glass never had more than one taste out of it and someone was pouring. It was a dining experience we'll always remember and can't wait to try again.

After years of being urged, I finally dined at Hugo's a few weeks ago. Yes, Hugo's can cost you a good chunk of change that you won't be spending at the roulette table, but with the excellent service and the wonderful food...you should gladly pay the price. I know I did. From the best vodka gimlets I have EVER had to the complimentary chocolate dipped strawberries, our meal was top notch. Escargot in butter and garlic were tender beneath a crisp puff pastry crust. The salads made to order tableside were a nice touch in personalizing the meal, especially with a small serving of lemon sorbet to cleanse your palate afterward. The waitstaff was efficient, friendly, and almost psychic in meeting our wants for the evening. The atmosphere is perfect for a business dinner or a romantic evening, although it can get a little loud if very busy.

A young businessman who traveled the world suggested going to "Hugos" in old Vegas. He is wealthy and can afford any resturant in Vegas, and said, "This is the place to eat". WE ARE DEVOTEES! WE ARE HUGE FANS. There were 12 of us and we had the large room off to the side of the dining area. We had a 4 or 5 course meal. The Somelier was extremely knowlegeable on the wines. They have an extensive and sophisticated wine cellar. The food was so well done. The coffee was freshly brewed at our table. The dessert tray was to die for. And its pricer than most old Vegas spots, but definitely well within the range of eating on the strip. Actually the value here is better than most strip hotels, so you get alot for a mid-priced meal!

My wife and I have been going to Hugo's on and off for about eight years. We've had great meals and not-so-great. The most recent was the worst -- not because of the food, but the service was abysmally slow and the management downright rude. I think the place is becoming a little tired. There are far too many great restaurants on the Strip to make a special trip for an eatery that doesn't try to earn its reputation.

Lots of locals don't think of downtown casinos as romantic but Hugo's Cellar in the Four Queens is quiet, dimly lit, exceptional food and roses for all the ladies. A little pricey and well worth it.

Do not consider Hugo's if you are planning a special occasion. I made arrangements weeks in advance for a 50th surprise wedding anniversary and they were not ready for us. We had to surprise our parents in the bar lobby area because they didnt have the room ready. Hugo's even suggested that we 'Mill Around the Casino'. When I wrote to them about our letdown - we were ignored. It's all a facade - they do not care about their patrons (and the food is only average) I've dinned in finer resturants in Denver Colorado
