Pros: no wait for a table cuz we were the only customers in the place

Cons: a miserable, yet overpriced experience

If you remember Sweetwater then you remember how bad the food was. Well they did it again! I was told that the chef and owner Beni Velazquez was gone!? It shows in the food that he is gone! The tapas that I liked are gone, the food has changed and the staff is really bad!! I will never go back. I don't understand why restaurant owners change a good thing when they got it. To BAD!!! They should close and never open again!

Pros: I think that they will close soon!

Cons: No chef in the restaurant

Read the reviews and decided to try it out. I think maybe the review writers are employees. Food was terrible. Service was terrible. Hated it!

On my first visit to STEELES Restaurant, we happened to stumble in on there opening day! The best part about that aspect is that we never would have known - except for the waitress that told us it was her first day and she was excited! Everyone seemed calm and collected. Even in a well established restaurant calm and collected truly can be hard to find at times.

I was with a party of two (myself and a friend) The two of us were seated right away and our water came out to our table just as fast as the waitress left with our order for drinks which was a pleasant appeal to me. Being a person who loves design my eyes wandered around the restaurant and I took notice to the decor in which they used. Everything from the fun shaped lights to the waiters and waitresses burnt orange coats!
While I was delighted by reading over a Tapas menu with a few items I had never heard of nor eaten before it was only appropriate that my friend and I ordered several which we both dug right into as soon as they were set in front of us. We received our food in a timely manner. I am not one to eat tapas very often, but I was pleasantly surprised to see small (but filling) portions of food that delighted my pallet and eyes. Being a new restaurant there will always be a quirk or two that has to be worked out. Yet none of this seemed to be a bother to me.

Last but not least, one more aspect in which I find worth noting is the ability I had as a customer to feel involved. The Chef was inspecting and plating parts of the food as they came out. All you had to do was glance over and see what hard work and dedication goes into his dishes. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very inviting and I had already decided from the minute walking in that I wanted to come back again. I'd like to see how the flow- of -things are going now for they have been open to the public for about a month.

Pros: Chef Ower was in-house and personally checked on our food

I went to STEELES with a group of friends and we had such a great time. The food was so good and the fact that it had so many interesting tapas to choose from made it great for a big group. We ordered about 6 different things between 6 of us and loved each dish. I think there are about 10 more on the menu I can't wait to try. Two of the best things were the artichoke hearts and the baby back ribs. The service was really good and friendly. The chef actually came out and talked to our group as well, which I thought was very cool. I loved it and can't wait to go back for more!
