MIke you are obviously either a friend of his or a family member because if you suffered like any of his 140 creditors ( yes thats right he had 140 creditors he owed money to according to the court records) you would be singing a different tune. The Clark County contractors board not only fined him an unheard of amount but they even yanked his business license therefore he is no longer able to scam the good people of Las Vegas, legally at least. I was awarded a huge judgement in court against him due to his shoddy workmanship on our rennovation and what did he do? He filed bankruptcy so he could erase the judgement. We were one of 140 people also looking to collect from him. You can praise him all you want and blame all the banks in the world, the bottom line is that we paid him alot of money for our rennovation and we had subcontractors knocking at our door at all hours of the night threatening to sue us because they were not paid. What did he do with the money that we paid him? Max Butterworth is a con artist that scammed us good and I'm not the only one saying it. Look him up on the contractors board his record speaks for itself or better yet, pull his bankruptcy records and see how many people he owed money to. Mine was not the first lawsuit he encountered, there were several before me and before any of his so called bank problems. He sucked as a contractor and he cost me alot of money to correct his mistakes. He is in my opinion the Bernie Madoff of Las Vegas. And for the record, he wasn't forced to file bankruptcy he chose to. The contractors board pulled his license so he couldn't legally work. His shoddy workmanship could have killed me had I used my jacuzzi tub that was never even electrically grounded.

Looks like the same 2 unhappy people posting this slander. I met Max years ago, he's one of the most dependable straight shooters a person could ever do business with. I tried to look him up again and found these posts. Then I was able to find him through a friend of a friend.

Here is what happened. In 2008 when the Wallstreet scam unfolded the Banks quickly moved to lower their risk. At that time through no fault of his own (and I'm paraphrasing) his credit line was pulled out from under him. After doing business for years with the Bank and never missing a payment they pulled the rug out from under him! Dropped his credit line over $100,000 dollars! Imagine having several jobs going and suddenly no money to pay the sub contractors. These people that are pissed off at Max have no basis. They should be pissed off at the bank. Max did everything he could possibly do to pay the sub contractors (They are the people who did the supposed bad work, not Max). And they were pissed off because he couldn't pay them. Max is a master carpenter having built 100's of homes. You won't find those 100's of home owners complaining, only the 2 people here who unfortunately got caught up in the mess as a result of the bank pulling the credit line. I understand they are angry, but they are targeting the wrong person. And yes the business filed for bankruptcy, they were forced to!

What troubles me is this guys reputation is being dragged through the mud because of 2 unhappy people out of hundreds who want to take everything out on him when it's in no way his fault. It's further troubling that after going out of business these complaint's are still online, they should be removed. So there you have it. Don't believe all the crap you read because some guy is pissed off and has no idea what the real story is. Thank your congressman for handing Wallstreet Billions and screwing the small businessman and his clients.

Max Butterworth Company has filed bankruptcy. Although we paid him for our job he told his subcontractors to apply our funds to other jobs. Now we are being liened. Bristlecone Construction, the HVAC, contractor turned out to be a terrible subcontractor. The Owner Pat Jenson completely lied to me, which is now causing us to pay double the amount. Stay away from the both of them.

Absolute worst contractor I have ever dealt with. I had a bathroom that was remodeled way below industry standards and I filed a complaint with the contractors board. In addition to the shoddy workmanship, He did not pull the necessary permits. Horrible traumatic experience dealing with his company and we still cant use parts of the room that was remodeled as it poses too many safety hazards since it was never finished properly. I have a shower that continually leaks down into the ceiling above my kitchen, a steam unit that could have exploded and a jacuzzi tub that was not wired properly and could have caused an electrocution and I could have been SEVERELY injured. Too many problems to list I could write a book. I won't even mention the cabinets that wont open because he built the tub deck for a giant, way out of proportion and it looks ridiculous or the four differnent granite colors that and don't match at all. Oh and lets not forget he supported my shower with my old baseboard molding. The funny thing

The funny thing is he has a beautiful website that talks about all of his custom home building skills and yet he couldnt even remodel my bathroom to code. I do not recomend Max Butterworth and company. If I could rate him zero stars I would. Stay away from this one."
