Love the free buffet every Sunday. On Mondays they have the Buck Burgers starting at 5 p.m. and $2 off all pitchers. The food is great. They also have half priced select appetizers.

Photos of scantily clad women of all shapes and sizes all over the bar. Always a good crowd (at least when I've been there) and the service, though slow when they are busy (the shape of the bar is a bit awkward) is extremely friendly.

My husband and I love going to Big Chicks and here's why: the servers and bartenders are so awesome and make everyone feel at home; they have great food specials ($1 burger Mondays!); they play my favorite mix of 80s pop and indie rock; the artwork is entertaining; it's just so comfortable. Give it a try!

This gay tavern has a "neighborhood bar" feel that lacks the bells and whistles of the trendier Halsted Street gay bars. They do 50-cent midnight shots on the weekends and free Sunday dinners. Bartender are very friendly and the service is great.

I love Big Chicks. As others have mentioned here, they have a great Sunday afternoon FREE bar-b-que (rain or shine, summer or winter). The staff is always super friendly and eager to please. The girl that works weekday afternoons makes the best cosmos in the city!!! I like to go on Wednesdays or Saturday nights to play euchre with the euchre club!

Pros: Great food and mixed drinks. Great prices. Friendly. Euchre on Sat. & Wed.

Cons: Can get quite smoky

See me here for Mon. noght $1 dollar burger specials, straight friendly for those gals who need a night out without any sleazy straight men trying to pick u up. Great atmosphere.

2 years ago I wrote a review for this place. To sum it up, I went midweek to find about 20 regulars and 2 bartenders. All men. My g/f and I were stared at, ignored, then treated rudely. We have both worked service industry and that night was her birthday. We were not going to let a bunch of pretentious gay boys ruin our night, so we left and vowed to never go back.
Fast forward almost 2 years to now... The place is definitely changing. My guests from out of town begged me to re-visit this place and I was pleasantly surprised with the changes.
There is at least 1 night per week geared towards women and transgender folks and there is now a qweer woman manager. There are female bartenders even. There are still lots of pretentious gay boy regulars, but they are much more tolerable when there are hot women in the same room.
I now have only praise for this place. It's always packed, but you can still push up to the bar for a draft beer. This is becoming a great Qweer hangout. Nice Job!

Pros: location, woman owned, drink specials, women & trannies present

Cons: pretentious regulars, neighborhood still a little sleezy but getting better

Being a rabid teetotaler, I don't go to bars often, but there is something about Big Chick's that is definitely appealing...Yes, it is the friendliest gay bar in town...nothing prissy here...just good fun!

There was a time, when me and my friends were single, that we would go to Big Chicks 3 days a week and have great fun. I go every now and then, and the best part about this bar is the fact that real people go there. If you need a break from the superficialities of boystown, this is the place.

By far my favorite bar in the world! It's always homey...the bartenders are awesome. If you take care of them they'll take care of you. I rarely ever see other bar owners working the crowds to make sure everyone is doing ok. Free shots at midnight! Free food and cheap booze on the weekends. You won't regret a visit to Chicks!

I've never felt so at home and so comfortable at a bar before. The staff is totally attentive, and Michelle is the most generous owners out of any of the Gay Bars in Chicago. (Yes, I've been to every one!) She's there most of the time to ensure that everyone is always taken care of! The staff, is curteous and attentive. They even serve the martini's with ice crystals floating on top! It's not a pretty bar, but if you're they're to meet friends (gay or straight) everyone is welcome. AND THERE'S NO ATTITUDE!!!!!!!!

Big Chick's is a relaxing way to hang out with your closest (and soon to be closest) friends on Sunday afternoons. Their vodka lemonades are tops and the burgers are among my favorites. This is the only bar I choose to commute in from the 'burbs for on a regular basis!

Big Chicks is by far the easiest, most casual, unpretentious gay bar in our city. It is filled with lots of gay urban men and women who are out to enjoy the good company of friends, great value on drinks, eclectic dance music, and on Sundays the BEST free bbq in the city...literally. There's a pool table for fun and euchre nights throughout the week. Join their email list and enter to win everything from gift certificates to Vertel's to theatre tickets to shows around town. For the price and atmosphere this place is unparalleled.

The is one of the bars in the city, period! Wonderful mix of people, great drinks, lots of fun. This is the gay bar that I would take anyone to, gay or straight. Be careful of the neighborhood--the bar is friendly, but sometimes Uptown is not.

It's nice to go to a gay bar on a Sunday afternoon and see guys that havn't primped, at least not that much, from the softball diamond or the beach. Great bartenders, soothing lemonades, and the BBQ make for a great stop to wind up your weekend and forget that you have to be back at work on monday.

This place won my vote the first time I ever arrived from out of town before I lived here. This bar/club takes ALL kinds. No one is given attitude. No matter whether you are straight/gay/lesbian/bi or whatever this is a place to throw down and have a great time. Free food on Sundays makes it an awesome Tea Dance. Its the first place I go to when Im not in the mood for the Boystown DRAMA. Enjoy.

On Halloween, a group of friends and myself ended up playing "Spin the Bottle" with half of the bar...The Sunday bbqs are also great fun!

Big Chick's was where I grew up (when I wasn't getting kicked out of Manhole and Carole's) -- where I puked on Dennis Cooper's shoes, where I gave Bruce La Bruce nail polish to fix the run in his stocking --- it's the absolute wacky, laid back best. A treasure of queer culture, and a can't miss for any side of the fence...

It's not your typical gay bar, and that's a good thing. Big Chicks feels much more like a neighborhood place, though there are cute guys here. Much more laid-back, good music, gets very crowded weekends. And Sundays at 3:30pm, Michelle (owner) has a free cook-out (burgers, brats, etc). She's great, and her customers are loyal. Everybody's welcome.
