So my roommate and I have been wanting internet for a while. I did some research via the internet to compare prices and such and between that and my experiences with the two it was between White County Cable and CenturyLink. To me cable is a bit faster so I made the call and spoke with a staff member. I was told my internet would be about $50 with a contract or about $70 without. I mentioned to her that that is not what the website says but she said it may be a little outdated so I went with it and signed up with a contract. The Tech came out 7/16/2010 and set up my internet with a wireless router which I explained to him was a mistake since I EXPLICITLY said I need the modem ONLY...NOT wireless since I have my own wireless router. The tech said someone would switch it out Monday for no charge. So over the weekend I tried to enjoy my internet buuut it was going quite slow. I could not watch movies as I had hoped and downloading anything was a pain. So I emailed the company Saturday afternoon about it and got a reply Monday saying I had gotten signed up with Lite internet (which to me was a huge mistake since I'll be paying $50 per month) so I went to the office as the email suggested. When I get up there and explain my situation it is THEN that someone mentions that if you DON'T HAVE CABLE YOU'RE CLASSIFIED AS A BUSINESS. So I am paying the BUSINESS prices for my internet which is $50 for Lite and $100 for Standard. To me this is ridiculous because
(a) there is no reason for me to be classified as a business
(b) that is outrageous for internet anyway
(c) I was never informed that I would be charged as a business
I believe White County Cable TV has a monopoly on the entire county because they are one of the only options unless you get satellite. I believe they know they have this monopoly and take full advantage of it. I would NEVER recommend them to anybody and wish I would have gone with DSL because at least they told me everything I would be paying for per month.

so Monday September 24, I call again and while I am on the phone with Littlerock they get ahold of a tech and he shows up. It was Darin he replaced the modeum and the spliters and put some boost thing on (to boost the signal) and got us up and running again... but by the next day September 26, 2007 I had no internet or upper channels again....Called and was told they would send a service tech out and got my internet back up and running.. I had my fingers crossed and was hoping all would be good this time.... but October 2, 2007 it went down again.... but don't worry a tech did show up October 3, 2007 and ran a new line from the box to my house... (which is still running across my yard a week later as of October 11,2007) so between October 3 and October 9, 2007 we were able to use our internet as long as we kept rebooting the modeum every few minutes....then the rebooting of the modeum was not staying up at all... so once again I called the 1-800-903-0508 number again this time I asked for a supervisor instead of going through the whole story again... I got Miss Bree (which has been very helpful and has followed up to make sure someone is working on the problem) she set up a service call and left a message for the white county cable supervisor to call... and said if I had not heard from them by noon October 10,2007 to call her and she would call them for me she also got ahold of the service tech on duty for me and he called tonight about 10 p.m. (David was his name) and he let me know that they would be out the next day ....
