By far the worst cable/internet company EVER. Hey Mediocrecom I want a refund for the 3-4 times a month your less then standard can on a string crap service crashes! As usual I'm using my cell phone for internet right now because there is an all too familiar "known issue" with my internet through Mediocrecom right now.

I agree, very bad service but no choices. I can't believe they are allowed to monopolize the market like this in the Iowa City area and nobody protests.

Mediacom likes to offer discounts to new customers... for the first 6 months. Then, they raise their prices dramatically. This happened to us twice - the first time, we found it saved us money to cancel our service completely and then re-sign up under a different person's name in order to get the lower sign on price. After this happened again, we contacted them, saying we would have to cancel our service if we could not get a lower price - we even asked to have fewer services: just internet instead of internet and cable... but the price for just internet was only $10 less than it would have been to have both! Rather than keep their current customers, they'd rather lose business to someone else. We're switching to SouthSlope simply because we have no other choices in our town (North Liberty). It doesn't seem like good business to only entice new customers to your company for a few months and then refuse to keep them by offering them similar prices. They must just count on people being too lazy to switch providers.
