I have never seen such lack of professionalism or work ethic. I went to visit my mother who was having work done (which they failed at too) and the employee that came to fix the water pump had the radio in his work truck blaring so loudly ALL of the neighbors called to complain about the noise. Clearly he was just trying to be malicious, no one is that stupid to think that they aren't being a nuisance. He had a chip on his shoulder and ruined everyones Saturday afternoon with the blaring music. They also left my mother without water for the weekend AND DIDN'T INFORM HER THERE WOULD BE NO WATER. SERIOUSLY THIS OPERATION IS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE! DO NOT HIRE THEM FOR ANYTHING. Oh and when she called to complain they gave her an extremely hard time and said "you are starting to test my patience." So even customer service is absolute garbage, there is not one redeeming quality to this operation.

STAY AWAY - YOU WILL 'DROWN' IN LABOR COSTS.
They may never charge and overtime fee, but they do charge for the time that the techs are sitting in their truck driving from one appointment to the next. If you live close to the last service call, that might not be a problem. If you live quite a way from the last service call you will be charged for the time it takes the techs to drive to your house as labor. Your one hour job could become an hour and a half or more and you get charged for travel as if it were a labor fee. One of the women in the office doesn't like criticism of the company's policies and shows an un-business like attitude when questioned. I have all of the invoices for the past ten years and not one of them shows that travel time is billed as labor. The woman told me that "it shows the breakdown of the fees on the back of the invoice". Every one of our invoices is blank on the back. She also said that the labor charges are clearly explained when the service appointment is made. Not true. I am sure I would have questioned that practice if I had been told about it in the past. They make the customer wait during a four hour window and then tell me that I could reduce the chance of higher labor charges by being more flexible. I feel that labor charges should be for the time the techs are in my house, not on the road. I cancelled our appointment for this week. I have to think a lot about this before I decide if I will ever use them again.

Excellent- I use GRECO & HAINES IN OLD LYME, CT. , SHELTON, CT. AND HAVE IN THE PAST USED THEM IN HARWINTON,CT WHEN I OWNED A COMMERCIAL BUILDING WITH 7 BUSINESSES. I HAD 10 PIECES OF EQUIPMENT THERE. I HAD USED AN OUTFIT BY THE NAME OF BLACK FROM WATERTOWN, CT. WHO CHARGED ME MONTHLY BUT DID NOTHING. GRECO & HAINES IN MY OPINION HAVE ALWAYS CHARGED ME A REASONABLE AMOUNT FOR WHAT THEY DID. THE BIGGEST THING WITH THEM IS THAT THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND ALL THE SERVICE MEN ARE SHARP. THEY ARE ALSO ALL LICENSED.

Do not use this company. It seems like they only care about money to me. A woman told me that our yearly service would cost $155. You can imagine my shock and anger when the servicemen handed me a bill for over $560. For my family, that is a lot of money, and we would have arranged something else had we known it was going to cost that much. It still upsets me to think with two small children and a home that we continuously work to improve, what we could have done with that money. Even the service men that came to our house said the woman on the phone should have gone over all the pricing since it was our first time getting the yearly service. I remember her specifically saying $155 and thinking THAT was a lot just for a yearly service. I called the company and spoke to a manager there who was unsympathetic and defensive. Never again will we use this company, and I hope the negative reviews here will prevent someone from hiring them either.

DON'T CALL, TAKE YOUR BUSINESS SOMEWHERE ELSE! I purchased my home 5 years ago which came with a new water filtration system (radon in the water), that needs service each year. For the past 4 years I have had Greco & Haines service the system and each year there has been an issue - but this year was the final straw. The first 2 years, the technicians (2 sent each time) left my home and the system was leaking from where they had disassembled it, resulting in my having to call them back so they could send another tech out to fix the leak. Both times they fixed the leak, but it cost me in not being able to return to work for another 2-3 hrs. after they "finished". Last year (2011) they (2 techs) left with no leaks. However, a week after they left my water softener ran its weekly cycle and much of the calcite (chemical they replace and charge for during my service) was emptied through the system drain and out onto my lawn. When I called them with my concern they offered no solution only stating they could send a tech out to look but if it wasn't due to their fault - I would be charged ($110 per hour) for the visit. Not willing to risk having to pay for the visit, I said I would keep an eye on it and call if the problem persisted. The problem did not persist because much of the calcite had already been ejected from the system due to improper servicing, so I did not call back as I had no further issues. Now in 2012 - They send out only 1 technician instead of 2. During his visit, the tech informs me of the following: I need 100 lbs of calcite this year as opposed to the 50 lbs. I have been getting the past 3 years. (wonder why?) When I explain to him what happened with the calcite last year - he basically admits previous techs must have done something wrong. A FEW MINUTES later I hear water splashing all over my utility room floor. They guy forgot to turn something off and had water spewing everywhere. He finally turns it off and now has a clean up to contend with. He FINALLY finishes and hands me a bill that is approx. $150 - $180 more than I had ever paid in the past!! I show him the bills from the past 2 years and ask what's the difference? He cites the extra calcite and the fact that it took him almost an hour longer than previous labor charges (again...$110 per hour). BUT HERE IS THE KICKER! - Before I would write him a check, I call the office with the tech in my presence. The woman I speak to (Jeannie - company pres?) gets on the phone in a completely rude and defensive manner practically unwilling to even listen to anything I had to say. She goes over my records for the past 2 years and admits that it took an hour longer to complete this year. Then she tries to tell me that they only sent 1 tech out for the past 3 years. TOTALLY FALSE - as all 3 years I had been there during the service and it was 2 techs. Bottom line is she was rude, unwilling to even let me speak (talking over me) and had absolutely no concern as to my complaints or satisfaction. IN SUMMARY: - I paid $50 more for calcite this year because what was supposed to be working in my tank this past year had been spewed out of the system after 1 week due to their improper service - I paid an hour more in labor because they only sent 1 tech who spent at least 15 minutes wiping water from my floor (with a towel he just grabbed out of my laundry!) due to his mishap. - The person who runs this company has no clue when it comes to customer service and appreciation. Completely rude, looks for a fight and unwilling to even listen. She got a bit more cash out of me this year but never again. So why did I call them back after the first 3 years of issues? Because they were the cheapest up front, but in the long run they cost much more. AND - they charge for travel time! That's right - you pay $110 per hour for them to drive their vans to your home. LAST - Don't be fooled by good review from Jeanne C. here. She is the company president and the rude, disrespectful woman I spoke to on the phone. Not a real customer!

BEWARE OF POOR BUSINESS AND INCOMPLETE WORK!!! In April of 2011 I had Greco & Haines come out to test my water because of blue stains. They told me that it was acidic and hard. They installed a system to balance out the water costing about 3,000.00 I called them in Oct 2011 because my blue stains were coming back and asked that they service the system and chemicals. They gave me an appointment with a 5 hour window. I asked for a smaller window but they said that was standard. The day of the appointment they never showed. When I called they said that I had the wrong day. So when they finally came they did a PH test and said the water was fine and the chemicals were all fine. I asked for a copper test and they said that a different person would call and come out. Its been a week and no phone call. I also noticed that my salt tank is empty and there was just water in the tank. I called a couple of other companies and asked if this was normal. They said absolutely not. So I called and talked to Both Joe Vicidomino and Sean Robinson the people running the Co. and have heard nothing back. DO NOT USE GRECO & HAINES, THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOTHING !! AND THEM THEY TELL YOU IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER THE AGREEMENT EVEN THOUGH YOU REQUEST IT AND ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR THE WORK. THEY BILL YOU FOR THE WORK AND DO NOTHING !!

Although our experience was not completely negative, I would never recommend Greco & Haines.

Our water stopped working late Saturday afternoon, and G&H did get it working that day.

Positives: Greco & Haines quoted us a per person hourly rate that was the same as the other places we called, and we figured having two technicians would make the work go more than twice as fast. They arrived within a few hours, told us we needed a new pump and new wiring and gave us an estimate ($2-3,000), and did the work. The men who did the work were pleasant, professional and cleaned up after themselves.

Negatives: We were not given an itemized receipt when the work was done, and when we did receive a bill we were charged two hours more than the workmen were here (at $100 per hour). We were told later that this undisclosed charge was for "travel time."

We were told to bleed the water from the tank at regular intervals, and not to run the dishwasher or washing machine until the water was clear and the air was out of the lines. Three days later the water was still not running clean, the pipes were knocking. As the days passed, we became increasingly disgusted by the fact that our water was still dirty and full of air, so we called a different well service (Professional Pump). After a week of getting the runaround from G&H, Professional Pump explained where the air was coming from, and fixed the problem immediately.

Plus, Professional Pump got us a new tank for hundreds of dollars less than G&H quoted for the same tank!

On the plus side, Greco & Haines arrived promptly (late on a Saturday afternoon) and got our pump working again. For $2,600.

On the negative side, they didn't give us an itemized bill until more than a week after we paid, they charged twice the hours actually worked (at $100/hour!), they didn't replace the well cap (which I understand is required by state law), and they tried to sell us an inadequate replacement tank that needed annual service. Oh, and our water was still running dirty with air in the line a week after they serviced the pump.

We ended up disputing part of the charge, but they were inflexible. They only agreed to a very slight adjustment in the bill after American Express got involved on our behalf. AmEx picked up the rest of the disputed charge. Imagine a credit card company giving better customer service than a service company!

We'd never use Greco & Haines again. Do yourself a favor and call Professional Pump in Woodbury instead of these guys.

They arrive on time, do the job and charge fairly, what else can you ask of a business?
They have been around 50 years , must make most of the people happy, they did me.
Charge same rates on weekend and holidays as they do during the week, and their rates are reasonable compared to other companies in the same or similar business.
Office staff was pleasant , servicemen were neat and clean and helpful.
We would recommend them to anyone any time.
Great company.

It saddens me to write this as this company has failed in every way. We recently purchased a new home and prior to the purchase we were given permission to speak to them about the system since they have maintained it from the beginning. I was told by multiple staff and technicians that the well system in this home was NEW and was the "Cadillac" of all systems. I asked if I should conduct a functionality test on the well and they said, "They wouldn't" and that this system is top notch and has been cared for. I was also told on multiple times, "You have nothing to worry about with this system." They even came to the house and went through the system with us! Well, it was my mistake. I trusted them and decided not to get the functionality test. I was burned! They all seemed wonderful and honest. In fact, most were, except the woman in sales. The woman in sales called several times to get her technicians to service my system once I moved in. I had them come out and they immediately informed me of OLD tanks, and filter issues that needed to be attended too immediately. This was something that would be known by the company. The costs to replace/fix the issue is in the thousands of dollars. When I called to ask for assistance, the women actually laughed at me, said, "who would buy a house without doing a functionality test?" When I asked to speak with the owner she said, "You cannot." I asked, "why?" she said, "Because he's dead." Well needless to say the poor customer service and being mocked really pushed my buttons to the point that I became angry with them (her). I never get to that point but she got me there! I have repeatedly asked to speak with the President/CEO. I have been told that she will not speak to me. I did speak with Joe who handles these things and he tried but really we got nowhere. He informed me the the President/CEO does not know about this but will fill her in and I should expect a call from her. Well, I received no call so I emailed her. I have received no response. I finally called again and a women answered the phone claiming to be the President/CEO. She said I have no time for you and will not speak with you. I simply asked, "is this a good time to chat. I want to fill you in on a situation that has occurred." Obviously, this company lacks any customer service, they have been dishonest or possibly stretched the truth with me. Will not even give me the courtesy to share my concerns and have closed the case without discussion. They cannot be trusted, I have heard this complaint from others recently. Please do yourself a favor and know that there are local companies out there that are in your area that are honest and MUCH less expensive then they are. Not only will you be happier but you'll save a ton of money as well. My case is being reported to the BBB so you can be confident my story is legitimate and not stretched or made up. I write this because I am truly disappointed in the way I have been treated. I was angry, I admit that, but the way they handled the situation pushed me there and I hate that I allowed that to happen.
