Maybe I was just lucky. I walked into Claudia's to the sound of a woman's laughter ringing off of the walls. (Girls in a sports bar - score 1 right off the bat.) I turned the corner, and in addition to people at the multitude of tables there were a few people clustered at the far end of the bar, including laughing girl, who it turns out a) is super cute; and b) works there. The girl then hollers "punch him in the kidney!" and I look up to see the group is watching Ultimate Fighting on one of 5 HD flatscreens. Nice. I settle into one of the - I kid you not - thrones at the bar, and immediately, like 1 second later, a different girl (curvy in a Kim Kardashian kind of way, and there is nothing wrong with that!) comes over, smiles, and says "let's talk about liquor, Honey." I look up, her eyes are green...

But I digress. The bar was pretty busy, but those 2 girls kept me in stitches with their dynamic, and never once let my glass run dry. The beer selection wasn't huge, but it was diverse and local. The food was waaay more than I expected for the price, and tasty pub fare to boot. I spent $9 on a pizza that was HUGE and actually very good. The cook even got into the routine out front a bit, and it was plain to see that most of the customers there were regulars, and that the staff was happy to be there.

It ain't fancy, but it ain't tryin' to be. There were sports. There were girls. There was good beer and food. I'll be back.

Went here for the Blazers opening playoff game. Food was good (try a pizza), beer was cheap, crowd was pretty cool. It's slightly divey, so wouldn't recommend it if you're into "ultra sports lounges". The best thing about it was the service. They were busy as hell with two servers, and those girls were all over the place. They kept the pitchers coming and were always checking on us and even took time to joke around. The only complaint I had was the audio isn't very good. We were seated right in front of the projection screen but the audio was only audible on the other end of the bar, but its still a good place.

Pros: Good food, service, decent beer

Cons: Sound wasn't very loud on one end of the bar

There aren't many sports bars in this area. Claudia's seems to have been there for decades. They have a grip of televisions and you can usually have any tv changed to your liking.

Claudia, how do I love thee, let me count the ways...

1. Rad Captain's Chair's at the bar.
2. Big tv's to look at in said Captain's chairs.
3. Cheep beer on tap, not a big selection.
4. Decent canned beer selection.
5. Very, very outstanding pizza. I for sure recco it, any kind any time.
6. Nacho's were fabulous also.
7. Big screen T.V that's hard to see unless you have a good seat, great spot to catch the Blazers.
8. Video addictions.
9. Pool
10. Trophy case with some interesting swag in it.
11. If no Blazers/Beavers/Ducks they have a great selection of NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB, NCAA
12. Staff does their job, not great but they get the job done.

We hit-up Claudia's mostly for the Blazers but they put up a Montana v Montana St. game for my friends from Montana so they are really accomodating, just might need to ask them a few times.

Pros: Sports selection, Captain's Chairs, Food, Food, Food!

Cons: Service sometimes is a hassle they forget orders, are asses about changing tv's, poor tap selection.

This town is getting overcrowded with places that take themselves too seriously, this place is just a bar- plain and simple. My friend and I just wanted a burger and some beer - it was midday on a weekend and we wanted to get away from the fools wandering around on Hawthorne. We decided to take advantage of the ridiculous throne like swivel chairs at the bar, ordered a half pitcher of crappy but ice cold beer and two cheeseburgers. The oscars were on, and so was the game. The bartender gave us what we wanted but pretty much left us alone. The burger was pretty great, the beer utilitarian, the experience near perfect! A perfect place to hideaway, relax and keep it real.

Pros: half pitchers, patio, crazy swivel chair bar stools

Cons: smokey

Not my typical place. But was good to pop in and hang out with some old-timers and have a burger and mini pitcher of beer. Sometimes you just need those things. And this is a good place for it.

The food here is good for bar food. The patty melt is pretty tasty, the super boss burger can get obscene. The beers are an adequate selection, as is their liquour selection. I wish this place had Tanqueray 10 but hey it's a sports bar. It can get pretty crowded for big games like Yanks-Sox or some big Ducks games so I wouldn't recommend going during those times since it can get real smokey, overwhelmingly so. However, if you just want a beer and a burger this place should do you more than just fine.

Pros: burgers

Cons: crowds on gameday, smoke

This is a fantastic place to catch a game. Claudia's is loaded with TV's and has a massive projection screen. They beer choice is pretty good but they could use a few more micro's. Service is O.K. and the place is quite smokey, but overall a great place to watch sports.

I went here and as a newcomer I felt very unwelcome. The bartender gave me the evil eye several times and although there were very few people in there, service was slow as the bartender ignored me aside from the evil eye. I did notice the older locals get a greeting and a warmer treatment. The food was just OK but I felt such a bad vibe that I would not go back.

Pros: Three pool tables

Cons: Rude bartender, Bad service, Too smokey

I love Claudias, pool tables, good beer, great bartenders. Its like a second living room to me. I just dont like the smoke! (I loved showing Bush's speech muted so that others could improv his lines... awesome!)

Claudia's is like an extension to your living room on game day! What a great place to celebrate (or commiserate) with fellow sports fans. The food is really good - and now they have mixed drinks! The energy get's pretty thick when there's a good game on. I recommend it highly.

Pros: great food, reasonable price, good vibe

Cons: no happy hour

Excellent sport bar. But I was dissapointed on my last visit when they made no effort to bring in Fox Sports World to watch a soccer game (even though the place was virtually dead on a Sunday afternoon). However, if your sport is football, basketball, baseball or nascar, there's no better place in town to watch it.

Pros: many screens, excellent pool room, loungechair barstools

So the service sucks a little, this place is sweet to watch a game at. Especially if you can get one of the captains chairs at the bar....deluxe baby, deluxe.

Good burgers, good selection of microbrews on tap, assorted sports on tv and several pool tables --what more could you ask for? Pool table use is a little pricey, but the rest is reasonable and good. Great neighborhood pub.

This place is a dive and not in the fun kooky way in the crappy stinkhole way. Their selection of beer was minimal and unimpressive. All the TV displayed one game and the bartenders where unapporachable. It was so smokey I couldn't breathe and had to actually leave the bar a few times to cough and clear my lungs. Twenty minutes in this god foresaken pit of despair is equal to an enternity in the dankest, dirtiest corner of hell. This is absoulutey the worst place I've been to in Portland.

If they can't get a game on no one can. The best sports bar by far. If you voted for another bar you haven't been to Claudia's. Great food, great service, terrific atmosphere.

A great place to meet friends and watch a game. Good burgers, pizza and salads. It can be super crowded if there's a big game on, so get there early if you want a table. Service can be hit or miss.
