Waited for years to visit a Krispy Kreme after hearing about them, and was a bit disapointed. the glazed donuts are really good but the cake donuts were dry. Loved the drive through, nice not to have to get out of the car :)

First time I tried these I thought they were too rich and sugary for me. But I developed a taste for the damn things and love them now. They are sooo bad for you but sooo good! Krispy Kreme and a glass of milk-yum.

Pros: yummy

Cons: very very very bad for you!

Anyone who thinks different just hasn't ever eaten a good donut. They're small, overpriced, and of very cheap quality. They rate better than maybe Hostess donuts but worse than any others. I'd recommend almost any donut besides Krispy Kreme. Instead try Voodoo in Portland or even Donut Day in Beaverton. Heck, even Entenmann's are much better than KK. Definitely an example of paying more for a brand name and getting nothing for your money. Thinking of KK donuts makes it easier to stay on my diet. Leave KK to the clueless and go find a better donut shop.

Pros: Hot donuts are better

Cons: KK donuts just aren't very good compared to other places

I agree they are a bit on the pricey side, but when my sweet tooth kicks into high gear, I head to KK. I do miss their lemon filled, those were the best out of all the varieties. I really wish they'd bring it back, but its probably a good thing, I'd get way too fat from eating there too often. Say, wouldn't it be something if they developed a "low-carb" donut...what a concept, lol

Pros: convenience, HOT donuts

Cons: too addictive and fattening!

The one really good thing about Krispy Kreme doughnuts is they are still edible for several days. Most store bought doughnuts can be used for door knockers within a day or two of purchase. 8 seconds in a microwave with a 4 day old Krispy Kreme and it's almost as good as new!

Pros: Excellent service

Why would there be so much hype about doughnuts if they weren't that good? These are by far the best doughnuts I have tasted. If you have them later, pop them in the microwave for 15 seconds and you almost get the same wonderful feeling as the ones straight off the conveyor belt.

I'm back. New York's "Krispy Kreme" doughnuts are overrated, and overpriced. It's the hype that's selling them.
Go to Beaverton Bakery, and several other good bakeries, in the area, and try a comparable "HOT" glazed doughnut. You will find them just as good. There is no secret glaze here. Any good dough, cooked in the right oil, at the right tempurature, will yeald a great doughnut.
I agree that hot doughnuts will taste better. Look at hot, fresh baked bread, with a slather of butter on it. I think I'm in Heaven, when I do.
Krispy Kreme's are good, but overrated. Only the person, who goes to the store, and asks for hot doughnuts, and eats it within minutes, will have this experience. The doughnut, eaten two hours later, at a morning break, will not have any special experience, like any other doughnut.

Pros: good when hot, lots of parking, many employees

Cons: overpriced, long lines, not worth the effort.

The idea of warm doughnuts fresh from the cooking pot is heavenly. Alas, the sickly sweet dip these fresh little pastries goes through makes the anticipation of a tasty treat for nought. The doughnut is far too sweet to make this a blissful treat. The value, seating, service, and ambiance is what one would expect. In my opinion the latter rating meet and exceed my expectations. The extreme sweetness goes way beyond a tase for something sweet. Krispy Kreme is no dream, it is more like a nightmare with the making of putting a normal person into a diabetic coma.

I have eaten those doughnuts all over the east coast. They are nothing really new. Now that they are here, they are no different. Sure, you get to see how they are made! But whoopie, There are just as good in other doughnut shops

I was really disappointed, real gooeyand too much sugar. I won't go back and can tell you I really prefer other donut shops in Portland. I am not much into sweets and really prefer a good bagel with a cup of coffee not some over-hyped gooey mess. I must admit Krispe Kreme is a fantastic marketing company but their product is very disappointing. Plus it cost $2 for the gooey donut and cup of coffee. Yuck!

There has been much talk recently about the invasion of Krispy Kreme donuts into out fair city. For those who have had them, it is a gift from above. Still many fail to see the beauty. It is just a donut, they say. They're good ... but

I must soundly refute. Calling a Krispy Kreme just a donut is similar to calling Elvis just a singer. It completely ignores the phenomenon that is both. For those future first time donut eaters, allow yourself to be caught up in the entirety of the experience, for then you will see Krispy Kreme Donuts for what they are - and the sound you hear may not be angels, but more likely than not, it will be the King.

Ten years ago, when I relocated from the Southern part of the US to the Northwest, I realized that coffee (in this part of the US) was unlike any I had ever tasted. Simply WONDERFUL, and so many wonderful coffees to savor!! A whole other experience for me!! I love it...

The reverse is true for hot, fresh, tasty donuts. While I agree that Krispy Kreme does offer great glazed donuts (I do not care much for their other fare), they certainly are not the best I have ever eaten!! I think it depends on what you have been exposed to, and sometime ignorance is bliss!!

Happy Eating........
