That sandwich ranks in the top 5 worst tasting things I've ever paid for. Its a good brewery so I expected decent food, but it was just inedible, I'm no hoity-toity food snob, but I know what food ain't supposed to taste like, and that

Really fun spot in a great location! They have AWESOME burgers here, yummy fries, and good beers on tap!...what more could you ask for?? Can get kinda crowded, but have outdoor seating on nice days, too!

Once appon a time, I enjoyed a C-Note and an awesome Ruben. Now, I have just enjoyed quite possibly the top 10 worst experiences. Nearly an hour to receive an order of tots, then at an hour and 45 minutes I walked next door to CHA CHA CHA to order a new lunch that was awesome by the way. The other 3 patrons I was with one had to leave to get to an appointment (which I had to leave and take him to his car) never receiving his food either. The other two were finally served and their food was petrified to the point that the chicken strips could have driven nails and the Hot Damn burger could have been used by the Portland Winterhawks. When our sever told us this is not a fast food restaurant I nearly replied with no kidding fido, its not a farm either where we need to grow, butcher and finally prepare food either. Not to mention we should have ordered a "Garden Burger " as they're faster. Why don't you become a Vegan restaurant then. Heck the last time I prepared a Ruben it took me all of 3 minutes, that included slicing the meat and toasting my bread. Step it up, it will a very long time before I go and spend a dollar their again. -Wait - I didn't today - boy was the water tasty....Unfortunately, I'm going to miss my C-NOTE, but it's no the only beer on the planet. Oh yes, did I forget that one of the waitress was enjoying a sit down conversation while we sat and waited for our lunch. Unbelievable...

Pros: Not a Fast Food Restaurant - they're a no food Restaurant

Cons: You Should have ordered the Garden Burger they're faster

WOW! Listen up people, Went there today and sat on the patio DONT DO IT! they totally forget about you. I was with 3 other people and at first we were having a good time. We waited for 45 minutes just to get an order of tater tots, when we inquired about our food (1 hour 10 minutes later) the waitress told me that the restaurant wasn't fast food & there was only 1 cook. When only half of our food came (2 of us never even got served our lunch) she stated that we should have ordered the garden burger because it was faster. Seriously she never once apologized for the service or lack of food. We consider ourselves to be regulars there but NEVER again will we eat there.

It pains me to write this review as Oaks Bottom USED to be one of my favorite hang outs, but it has been going down hill for at least a year now and recently I had an experience there that made me resolve never to come back, even though I live right down the street.

First off, the wait staff is really snotty. Don't expect any kind of smile or niceties. I have seen them sit at the bar and chat amongst themselves while people wait to order. I have seen them sitting in the back smoking cigarettes while people wait for their food. Pathetic.

The last straw came a few weeks ago when Portland had the big snow storm. We called ahead to see if they were open and they told us if we could get there within 30 minutes, we would be served (it was only 7pm for heaven's sake and it wasn't getting any snowier - the snow had fallen a few days ago). We hot-tailed it down there within 10 minutes and were told to go home - that they had called last call. I was with my parents and my mom commented that someone on the phone had told us that we had until 7:30. This woman sitting at the bar, which I later learned actually worked there, started YELLING at my mom that it was last call, end of discussion. She then proceeded to cough up mucus into her hand. I later learned she was a COOK THERE!!!!

That night, we went to the bar Kay's down the street and were treated very well by the only staff person there who was managing to take orders, tend bar, and clean tables, all while smiling and treating us well. Needless to say, if you are looking for pub food in Sellwood, skip Oaks Bottom and go to Kays instead! We will from now on, for sure!

If the owner actually brought in staff that was clean, polite and didn't act like disinterested wannabe hipsters, I might actually consider returning. For now though, I wish I could give this place 0 stars.

Pros: The tachos are good.

Cons: Rude wait staff.

The food is consistently good with extensive choices. The beer selection is also very good with revolving taps. The service however is often slow and unaccommodating when busy. From our experiences the reason for this slow service is understaffing with only one server working the floor with help from the bartender. This system leaves either the bar or the floor under attended when busy. Also, requests when this situation occurs seem to annoy the staff, I know its Sellwood, but we're still customers. Finally, don?t expect a growler to be filled timely when busy. We ate, paid the tab, and still waited ten minutes for the growlers to be filled constituting about an hours time. My suggestion; get more people out on the floor when busy.

We are soooooo happy this place opened up in Westmoreland! I believe Oaks Bottom is owned by the same people who run The Old Lompoc in NW Portland and Hedge House on Division. We used to live in NW Portland and were Lompoc regulars so our expectations were high, but we couldn't be more happy. I could eat here 7 days a week. If you go, be sure to try the Tachos. They are basically nachos with tater tots instead of chips and they are really yummy. My favorite dish is the cobb salad, but my husband likes the brisket sandwich. The beers are from their own brewery and are also superb. The service is very friendly. The only potential downside is that there is sometimes a wait on weekend nights and the place can be noisy, especially when people bring their screaming toddlers. I would highly recommend Oaks Bottom!
