In Other Words Bookstore has changed so much in the last few years, and its very sad what it's become. Many small bookstores have had problems, of course, and this place was no different. But it's "solved" its problems by getting rid of almost all its book stock and having a few shelves of tacky stuff and magazines - and leaving the rest of the space open for "community" space.

Unfortunately, the "community" space is now for things like showing porn films (I'm not joking) , and the filthy little coffee space. Walking through, I felt like I was at an indoor flea market, and there were no books of any interest (though if you are transgender of any kind, the events, movies, groups, and events seem for you).

Truly a dismal end to what was a truly feminist bookstore years ago. In fact, it would have just been better to let In Other Words die, and, if someone liked, set up this other thing under a new name so folks truly looking for what it was before aren't disappointed as we were. Anyone looking locally for feminist titles should just check out Powells Books or shop online. No reason at all to visit or support In Other Words any longer.

The books in this store are not your just run of the mill best sellers. They have all different kinds of topics in a small selection but one that is very nice. Even some of the children"s books are unique!
