We stopped at this place (way out of our neighborhood) because it was across the street from the hospital and convenient. We noticed quite a few cars in the parking lot at 5:30 p on a weeknight, and figured it must be pretty good. The dining room was almost empty, so apparently everyone was in the bar (came to the conclusion it must serve good drinks - we didn't go into the bar). The food is the worst we've had in a restaurant in the 20 years we've lived in Portland. It's very cheap, the service is very good, it seems pretty clean, but the food is horrible. We both had combination plates, so tried 6 different entrees. They were all bland, tasteless - and I sent the braised spareribs back because they tasted really, really stale. We got out of there for $15.00 (including cokes) but didn't eat any of it.

Pros: nice people, no wait for a table, cheap

Cons: terrible food

I went to the Fortuna because I heard the drinks are cheap and strong, and man thats an understatement! The food is cheap and good if you love grease. The bartenders are funny and quick-witted, they'll remember your name after one trip in. The regulars are hilarious, just don't plan on having intelligent conversation. Its good for people watching and tv watching. giggidy giggidy

We have been going to Fortuna at least every month for the last 3 years. It is great when we don't feel like cooking. They have a 2 item special where you get your choice of 2 of 9 favorites piled high on a oblong serving plate for only $3.95. This comes with tea and soup complimentary. Our family of 5 always orders 4 of these plates and has a feast for only $16 with leftovers to take home. The best value I have ever seen for Chinese/American food in Portland. Ordering A La Carte from the menu is comparable with other restaurants prices but their selection is huge, and always good if not great.

Pros: Big Soft Booths, Best Egg-Flower Soup, Friendly Service

Cons: Decor/Ambiance
