.

I am truly disgusted and apauled by the treatment that we got at this clinic. I took my elderly mother who is also slightly mentally disabled in for her very first eye check but with also a diagnosis issue. She was referred to EHNW by her Primary Care Physician. My mom doesn't like to drive so I took off work to take her to her appt. We showed up at 230 for a 3pm appt because we weren't sure if her appt was 3pm or check in time was 3pm. Her actual appt was 3:20pm. We checked in and proceeded to wait to be called back until 5pm (ish). They took us back to do the initial check-in with the assistant. Never did we get an apology for having waited this long. They finished the initial exam and then dialated my mom's eyes. Then we were seated in another waiting area for the doctor who we were now informed was running behind. So now we wait until about 5:30 and we go back to our room. Dr. Waldman walks in and asks my mom why she is there. We explain to him about her issue that her doctor had referred her for. To this, Dr. Waldman replies very matter-of-factly, ""that isn't a eye problem, that is a brain problem."" My mom says that she was told by her doctor to come in. We also tell him we want to get a prescription for glasses which she obviously needs. They kept saying that her ""Medicare insurance won't pay for any of it"". We stated we knew and we would pay because she really needed them. So he continues his exam on her and then asks her if there is any Glaucoma in the family. Now my mom has mental issues. She has the mental capacity of a teenager. She responds to his question, ""my husband had Glaucoma"". Both the Doctor and his assistant looked at each other and started laughing. Then told my mom that Glaucoma isn't contagious. Okay, so we did fill out the Health History form in which we had put on there about her mental condition. They apparently didn't either go over it or didn't care because they were not sympathetic to her condition when they chose to not only mock, belittle and laugh at my mom who by this time looked like a child who had been slapped. She did not understand any of it. I myself was seeing red. I was VERY VERY mad that she was being treated like this. That all of us were being talked to and disrespected this way. My 10 year old daughter was with us so I was able to hold in my rage but it was very difficult. The doctor, after having us wait for almost 3 hours with no apology whatsoever and insulting us, only spent 10 minutes with us. The only good thing that came out of this appt was that she got a prescription for eye glasses but my mom will not ever go back to an eye doctor now because she is so hurt and embarrassed. We feel she was treated very badly and they were not sensitive to her mental disability. Shame on them.

I purchased eyeglass frames from EHNW some time ago becasue I didn't care for the selection at my usual practitioner. I contacted them in regards to updating my contact prescription and for a 1 year script it is $100 which is reasonable. What was UNreasonable was that you are automatically levied a ""fitting fee"" of $60 by thier contact dept. whether you purchase contacts through them or not. I have worn contacts for more than a decade and I do not need to have someone watch my put them in. THEY EXPECT YOU TO PAY A EXCISE TAX FOR THE HONOR OF BEING THEIR CUSTOMER. They even refused to honor a manufacturer's coupon for trial lens. I renewed my COSCO membership for 1 year and got a 2 year script thru their optical and still paid less.
