It's about time that P-Town has a philly cheese steak place, that has good cheese steak sandwhiches I lived in South Philly for a year and they were everywhere and I fell in love with PCSS's but when I came back I could not find one! I know I know there are some places that claim theirs is good but I beg to differ, Hell one place gave me a French Dip WTH!! It came with aujus sauce, that's friggen nut's. The atmosphere in this place is active as well it's too bad it does not sit on 23rd but hey!!, maybe someday. The service was good and the place was clean. I like the American flag attributes as well. I'll be sure to pass the good word for youz guyz!!!

Peace

PS. The secret Sauce is money!! Verrry good.

I'm writing this from Philly although I'll be returning to Portland in a couple weeks, I'm in the process of making the jump from east to west. Portland is awesome! Fortunately, my buddies introduced me to Tribute's at the getgo, which was last summer.

I've been giving this a lot of thought, as I've been re-sampling the various cheesesteaks here in Philadelphia and finding fault with (amazingly) all. In my opinion, Tribute's has the cheesesteak I'm looking for and I'm very much looking forward to getting back to Portland. Tribute's has my vote!

Cons: none

I've been a fan of the Tributes meatball wedge for many years. I call it in, & swing by a few minutes later to pick it up & it's almost always waiting for me. The meatball wedge ($7.95) is a delicious favorite of mine-- filled with sliced italian sausage (i think) meatballs, covered in mozzerella and a delicious red sauce. The bread is that kind which is soft on the inside & crusty on the outside, like good italian bread should be. Usually half the sandwich fills me up, so the other half can be thrown in the fridge for another meal.
Lately I've tried a couple different sandwiches: the Italian sub & the cheesteak. Neither of them disappointed. I'm not a huge fan of their pizza, but the slices are generous sized & loaded with cheese.
The service is always friendly and quick. I love this place!

As a Philly native and a transplant to Portland. I was pleasantly surprised to find this little deli tucked away. Tributes has everything authentic about a Cheesteak as you can get out here on the West Coast. They even have it down to the Amoroso roll! The peppers are a no go, but it doesn't hurt their points in my book. Way better than Genos or Pats from what you've seen on the tube. Don't ever try one of them if you ever make it out to Philly and want a delicous Cheesteak (that's correct, one word, not a typo).

Their other sandwiches were delectable which consists of Boar's Head meat products.

Tributes made my shopping experience off of 23rd that much better!

Don't be shy, give it a try!!

I recently paid a second visit to Tributes wondering if my first experience was true or if it had grown to legendary porportions in my mind. I nearly dreamed about this pie, it was so good!! I am happy to report that it was not a fluke. During my encore dining experience, I wanted to dance on the table and shout because the pizza was sooo good! The crust evaporated in my mouth and the sauce was perfection. The folks at Tributes certainly know what they're doing. They are the Dale Chihulys of the pizza realm.

This pizza freakin' rocks! This is the way pizza was meant to be. This pizza is right with god. Thin, chewy crusts, (but wonderfully poofy on the Sicilian style) and plenty of toppings but not too much, serve to make this a favorite. Everything melts together perfectly, and there are no clashing ingridients, just incredible Brooklyn pizza. The french fries are awesome. Period. They have a crunchy outside and a firm inside, and just the right amount of salt and pepper.
There is a large selection of beverages, including the wonderful but hard to find Dr. Brown's cel-ray soda. Needless to say, this is awesome.
There is an exellent ambiance, for a pizza shop and it feels very homey.
Overall, I would totally reccomend this. BEST PIZZA WEST OF NY.

This comes as close to NY Pizza as I've found in the NW--much better than return to NY which is a fake. Service is pleasant. Pizza excellent, prices good, eggplant and chicken parmiagiana really good. Owners are really pleasant. Impossible to park.

Their White Pizza is the really the best pizza on the West Coast. It is loaded with garlic and a tangy, oregano based marinara sauce. The crust is great both thick or thin. It was really a welcome surprise after trying way too many recommendations of the "best pizza ever" of cardboard with some tomato paste on it.

Trust me fellow readers. This is THE ONLY place in puddletown that even comes close to a true philly cheesesteak.

I'm a recent transplant and come there once a month or so when I need a fix. I actually live near Philadelphia's in Sellwood, but they don't even come close!!! ( they should actually change their name to camden's. ( insider joke for fellow phillies)

Ok.. they use amoroso's rolls ( a must ) philly steak.. the only thing they're missing is cheeze whiz... I beg and beg, but they think that portlanders arent' sophisticated enought. at 7 bucks a pop, it's a steal.. many portlanders are either quite poor or cheap to complain about the prices... but that's ok, it keeps the lines down.

Go IGGLES!!!!

I used to spend a lot more time in NW Portland. Now, I find only a few reasons to be there. I feel the best is Tribute's. Tribute's is the same food sans the Richie B. I lost touch so I don't know what "really" happened to the former namesake of the place. But, the same guys who ran the grill three years ago are still there. The Philly Cheesesteak is to die for! Short on the cheese side...yes. But, it is the most flavorful sandwich you will eat in this barren grilled bread and "Oregon-o" sandwich city. Taste the actual ingredients! What a concept! Great friendly place to grab a monster sandwich and head to a park or the side of the street where a "SANDWICH" is best appreciated. Screw the ambience! It's a sandwich and pizza shop. Hands down the best cheesesteak this side of Chicago!

You have to stop in and try this and you will be hooked. Its sooo goood!!!

I am a transplanted Ohioan and am forever searching for back style food. I tried this place last week for the 1st time and was pleasantly surprised.
I got a cheese steak, a meatball wedge, a chili dog, and 2 slices of pizza. (No I didn't eat it all at once, I took the sandwiches home). The cheese steak is the best I've ever had. I've never been to Philly but it is the best I've found from Portland to Eugene. All the other stuff was also great and I can't wait to go back. There are still some menu items I haven't tried. They use Boar's head brand meats which are very good quality, and it tastes like it. Also, locatelli romano is the best. I'm in love.

What stands out the most about my two trips to Tributes (aside from the friendly muscle-man that rang me up) is this gigantic jar of stuffed peppers sitting on the counter. They are expensive at .75 cents or 1.00 a pop - but they are unique and unlike anything I've tasted here in Oregon. They are crunchy, marinated, garlicy peppers stuffed with a cube of mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto....and I could eat about 10 of them at once sitting. There's something about these peppers that, served with a slice of veggie za', transformes the whole experience into something wonderful.

The pizza and cheese steak sub remind me of home. This is the real deal. Kind of small and a little pricey, but definitely worth it.

I've only been here once, but I had some sort of honey-mustard pork sandwich (or something, I can't really remember) that was outstanding. It's off to the side of all the 21st and 23rd craziness, so it's a good place to escape for a bite.

Add another transplanted Northeasterner to thr group of Richies converts. Better than any other Pizza in Oregon and as good as what you would find back home. The sandwhiches are two person jobs and the service is unique, but so friendly! Still the best place to grab lunch in Portland!

Best eggplant parmigiana I've ever had. Unfortunately, I've never tried anything else here, because that's what I crave, so it's all I've ordered. I've heard that their other sandwiches are great, too, though. Great for takeout.
