Over priced, bad customer service, and food is nothing special. Good wine selection...for such a small place. I won't be going there again.

I really enjoyed the service received by the owner (in the past) and this evenings bar tender which is why I chose this venue to catch up with a friend I hadn't seen in ages. When I first walked in I asked the blond waitress if we could sit in a booth vs the two top shoved in the corner with patrons a foot off my shoulder, she rudely replied NO its for 5 or more. Customer service should be first and for most and at the very least her delivery should have been more professional. I moved to the bar as the people next to me where too close for comfort and she snapped back at us well "he" can deal with you now. That booth sat open all night EMPTY and we would have ordered $11.00 glasses of wine and food all night if offered a comfortable place, instead I opted for the $7.00 glass and then went next door for great service and food. :(

Cons: Food was beyond terrible and the waitress was RUDE

I agree with all of the reviews. The food was horrible. We ordered fish tacos and a plate of hummus. The hummus had a horrible flavor. The fish tacos were most likely reheated skippers fish entrees.
The service was really bad. The manager made at least 10 trips around the bar in a 20 minute period. Very weird. Again the tacky blinking "Open" sign should have been our first clue. It's too bad, it's a great location. Hopefully this helps Sin Ju next door get more service.

My boyfriend and I went to Split for dinner- we had passed by it many times and thought it looked neat on the outside. The waiter was not very friendly at all. I ordered a glass of wine which tasted fermented and my boyfriend order Coke which was flat. Our meals were not good at all and overpriced. I ordered a salad and soup- my salad was brown and wilted and I ended up hardly eating any. I walked away spending a lot of money and hardly ate anything served. I would definitely not recommend this restaurant.

It was date night for me and I anticapated an awesome evening. I ordered the Chicken Florencia and when it arrived it was cold. I sent it back only to have it returned to me luke warm. Also it was supposed to be on a bed of spinach...I did find the spinach peeking out from under the chicken. Also for the price that they charge the plate should not of been considered a entree more like a Happy Meal. My date had the Angel Hair Pasta with Asparagus and Salmon which she did not like as well. They say the salmon is seared and when it arrived it was maybe 3 ounces of crumbled salmon that was in a close to runny sauce. As a Chef, I would of assumed it would of been a whole piece of salmon and it should of looked seared. It's all in the PRESENTATION. I will return but on a full stomach.....

Pros: Wine Tasting-Appology and Entree Comped

Cons: Server Constantly Coming to the Table/Food

.

Have visited this location several times in the past few months and simply love the fact that I can sample some expensive wines from the machine. I would probably never risk buying the whole expensive bottle but it is nice to sample before I take the plung.

Have only had the fish taco's but there were outstanding.

Agreed with previous reviewer - should have just split.

Went to Split last Thursday for lunch with my mom and boyfriend's mom, and should have trusted my better judgement and went any place else for better food and service The server was all over us when we came in and sat down, but then seemed to forget about us. Granted, he was the only server and working the bar too, but only had 3 tables with any people. We all ordered salads and I also ordered the butternut squash soup. We could see the chef from where we were sitting and I watched him plate up my soup way too early and stick it under the heat lamp while he prepared the the overdressed salads. By the time I finally got my soup, it was tepid at best and the server looked at me in disbelief when I sent it back. I then continued to watch the chef get disgusted that the soup was sent back saying that it was sitting under the heat lamp. All he had to do was stick his finger in it and see that it was cold. I had also ordered the spinach salad which was supposed to come with sliced apples and did not have any. Again, I told ther server and he had to consult the menu and then ask the chef only to report back to me that yes, it was supposed to come with apples. My mom's salad was supposed to have hazelnuts which consisted of hazelnut powder and when mentioned to the server, he again consulted the menu and chef and came back showing us that the powder was indeed hazelnuts and showed us a handful - classy. When the bill came, we were not comped for anything and nor did we receive an apology at any point for anything by the server or chef.

We went to Split last night and were extremely impressed with their new menu. They have added imported wines to the wine list and have managed to keep their prices affordable.

The best thing about Split is the friendly serivce and attention to detail. The cannolis and butternut squash soup are fantastic.

Don't miss their new Sunday Campagne Brunches--only $18/ adult!

My friend and I planned an evening to go to a movie and then a nearby restaurant for an affordable Happy Hour. I'm relatively new to the area and couldn't find much that was open later than 9pm. I called Split earlier in the week to ask if they had a Happy Hour on Wednesday evening and was informed that it was from 3-6 and then from 9-close.

However, when we arrived we were told that information was incorrect followed by, "well, I'm the owner, so I should know. We won't have Happy Hour until the end of next month." Then he retracted and said, "Actually we do have Happy Hour during the week from 3-6 but have put the 9-close Happy Hour on hold for now." My friend and I were very disappointed because at that point we didn't really have any other options so we stayed and ordered wine and an appetizer.

When we were served our shared appetizer they forgot to bring us utensils and napkins. The server did come back with utensils at our request but I had to get our napkins.

I understand the economy is tough right now and businesses must make cuts. However, the management of this situation was so poor that they have lost any future business I (or anyone I know) would have given them.

I do NOT recommend wasting your money at this establishment.

Split....we should have split and just had popcorn and cokes at the theater. This so called wine bar didn't even have wines from Europe! What wine bar would only have a West Coast wine list. Granted Oregon, California, and Washington all have wonderful wines, but what about the rest of the World??? My wife and I have wandered past here many a times and never went in. Finally we decided it was time to stick our heads in. The overall appearance seem all well and good, but when we were greeted by a gentleman who seemed upset we even walked in my wife and I were ready to leave. We ordered calamari to start which was just so-so. Slightly overcooked causing a chewing and dry effect. Next up was our entree's. What a disappointment. I had the chicken dinner and my wife the filet mignon. Her filet was overcooked to the extreme and my chicken dinner was lacking in any sort of flavor. Our drinks took almost 15 minutes to get from the bar, and were not worth what we paid for them.

I can't believe anyone would ever have giving this hole in the wall five stars. We give it one and only for the appearance!!!!

I cant believe the change here!! This place opened a few years ago and started out great but over time the food got bad the wines even worse and the service became horrible. Split went through a change of ownership and what a change it was. The owner actually works there and is a great guy, the food is a five star plus and the wines are actually affordable(a dollar or two cheaper than anywhere else in the area and you can get a GLASS of Silver Oak unheard of). I got on their email list and they have monthly wine dinners and tastings. I thought i would just give split the recognition that they deserve. Great place if you like good food and wine. Well worth the wait on weekends.

My family and I have gone to Split a few times now for lunch, dinner as well as just drinks and appetizers. I have to say that after the new ownership this summer, I have been more then satisfied with the food and service.
The location is perfect for dinner/drinks and a movie or a quick lunch on the way in or out from shopping. The atmosphere is casual and the place is always clean! The employees there have had nothing but smiles on their faces every time and are more then happy to help you in any way. In fact the gentleman that was taking our table even had the ability to calm a crying baby!
We have been able to try out a good portion of the menu items which offers variety enough to please just about anyone. Everything I have ordered so far has come out of the kitchen in a quick manner. The food is always hot and mouthwatering. The Executive Chef even came to our table to make sure everything was as ordered and delicious...and of course it was! I have worked in the restaurant industry and have had my share of plates to compare it to.
We recommend this to anyone in the area and we will most definately be back.

It's not often that I love a place for a while, then hate it. Well, I still love split for atmosphere, wine bar. BUT the food is worse than most places. They used to be pretty good to very good. Food has slipped, gone down hill. To sum it up, the food is cold, not fresh and poorly made. For Example: burnt food, last nights reheated or left out sitting for lengthy time until it goes cold and awful, etc. This is dish after dish after dish! It's really too bad because I have been here a dozen times and used to love to have some great food with my wine, but they have the worst cook on the West side behind the kitchen. Maybe the chef left? Anyway, you report the concerns and they do little about it. I'll go back, but for a drink of wine before a show or after shopping. I'd rather open my own wine at home and have some great food to nosh on. What a let down!

I will admit being leary after reading some of the negative reviews. And with my (2nd) experience, they are unfounded, IMHO!

We had a great time, mind you...we were only there for happy hour food and wine. But the food was marvelous! We ordered several HH items to share and each one was amazing. Make No MISTAKE, this is not your average happy hour. They serve high end tasting food (ceviche, excellent calamari, cheese plates, amazing hummus plate, etc), it's 5 STARS for the HH food, alone. Some people looking for a MEAL for $4 at happy hour, this is NOT your place. The food is served tapas style, small tastes of amazing food.

The wine list is good to great, thus minus a1/2 star. They have a rather small list for a "wine" bar. The enomatic preservation system is a nice treat. You can sample (for a fee) or have a glass of high end wines without having to purchase a bottle, great concept. For my personal tastes they did not have enough PNW, or international regions represented. But that's me. And they seemed to have quite a lot of California wines.. NO thanks. Living in Oregon and near Washington we have access to some of the best wines offered in this country. Skip California...no apologies, people, it's about supporting the local products. I would like to see more Argentina, Chile, Spain, Italy and France...on the wine menu.

Service was excellent. We were looked after very well and our server was great to interact with. I wish they had more tables/booths, as it could get crowded and did towards the dinner hour, but we weren't asked to leave, despite being HH customers.

It's definitely on my return list for excellent HH food, wine and dinners with the hubby! TRY this place if you love wine and incredibly innovative food!

My wife and I decided to go to this place up before seeing a movie. We had passed it a few time and decided to duck in this eve. There were about 15 others in the restaraunt; 3 at the bar, a table of 6 or 7 ladies and a few doubles at other tables. Not busy by any means! We sat, and ordered drinks. About 15 minutes later our order was taken- 1 hamburger for me and halibut for my wife. Quick and easy. 45 minutes later still no food. Not only that, we had not seen or heard from our waiter- not another drink, appatizer... nothing. Our movie was due to start in 20 minutes so I guestured to a waiter and he said our food would be right out. 10 minutes later, my wife had her fish. 10 minutes after that I asked for the bill as we had to leave. The waiter took my card and walked away. Another 10 min I got up and went looking for my card as we had to go and he still had not returned. I found the waiter back of restaurant and at which moment he handed me my card like nothing was wrong and the bill for $50 which included the burger I never got!!! I DO NOT recommend this place unless you have $$ and time to waist!!! Instead, go to Macoroni Grill or PF Changs... McDonald's has better service!

Split used to be a really cool place to go with great food. Now it has extremely poor service and HORIBLE FOOD! The Wait & Bar Staff looked like a bunch of hoodlums right out of the county jail. The menu was extremely hard to read (horrible font) and uneventful! This is the nicest outdoor shopping facility in Oregon and the food aweful. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

... heck happened to this place?? walking in i was a little dissappointed to not recognize ANY of the staff. the bartender i remembered was funny, personable, and made a GREAT cocktail! but she's been replaced along with the drinks she made so well. overall, the whole feeling of the place was kind-of stale. and the "black martini" i orderdered wasnt worth having more than one. my friend and i left after one drink, feeling like we weren't welcome. we went next door to Sinju instead.

The service was "slow"! Quite ironic, their name did not stand up to the very slow service we received. We went there recently and were very disappointed. We ordered a caesar salad with chicken on it and shrimp cocktail. Both dishes were so-so and not worth coming back for. We couldn't understand why it took so long for both these dishes. We sat at the bar and maybe that was not the thing to do. I asked for a drink menu, (martinis) but the bartender did not have one and she said I had to advice her on how to make them. Well I am not a bartender and I don't know what goes into those drinks. So I gave up on getting a martini. So we learned our lesson on going somewhere different and will continue going to our favorite place which is McCormick & Schmidts, good food and good service all the time. We ended up going there for dessert and got prompt service and good food, as always. We felt at home.

Pros: Can't name any, why go here when other places are better

Cons: poor food, slow service

There claim to fame is some famous Chef wrote there menu but what they neglected to tell you is that he doesnt cook it and as far as I can tell the people who do cook it are at best unskilled minimum wage flunkies and thats being generous! This is is kind of a cool little spot nice ambieance decent bar staff but they would be well advised to hire at least sombody who can cook . The message they give out is well a great Chef wrote the menu but were to cheap to hire him. This is a nice place for a drink after the movies but there kitchen needs to be revamped

My husband and I typically go to P.F. Chang's when we shop at Bridgeport. After a movie, we saw the full bistro-style patio at Split and decided to give it a try. We sat at the bar and chatted with Rachel, whose impressive wine knowledge turned us on to a tasty Barbera we'd not tried before. We ordered the calamari (Yum!) and a table opened up on the patio before it arrived. For dinner, I ordered the serared ahi tuna salad and my husband ordered the NY Strip Steak. This was the best meal we have enjoyed in some time. The steak was prepared perfectly and the ahi was better than I have had at popular sushi restaurants. Our patio server was full of smiles and attentive to our needs. We split a braquetto and brownie for dessert. Delicious! What started as a quick bite turned into an all evening event. We befriended the table next to us and a live swanky jazz band arrived, creating a great ambiance. Split is our new favorite place. The wine list, the menu, and the great service have earned Split our first 5 star citysearch restaurant rating and will be the only place we "dine and drink" in Bridgeport in the future.

Pros: Service, Ambiance, Food

Cons: Patio is small and first come first serve, so you might want to make a reservation

I think this place has changed owners. We went when it was first open and the service was slow and the food was just ok. However, it was far greater than it is now. It has turned into a obnoxiously loud twenty something bar. You feel like you just walked into a pool bar with loud trashy music. I like all kinds of music, don't get me wrong but not at a wine bar. They took 20 minutes just to be acknowledged, another 10 minutes to take our order (which was the busser that didn't know what a "CAB" was...at a wine bar!!! After waiting another 10 minutes our wine was still not at the table, couldn't see because it was so dark, couldn't hear and started to question the cleanliness of the food if it was ran so poorly. We got up and left....definitely not recommended.

We have been to this restaurant many times and have never been disappointed. We have ordered many different menu items and drinks - the white bean and lentil soup is delicious. The last time I went there, I had the Atlantic Salmon and the mashed potatoes and red peppers that came with it were great.
The waitresses are very knowledgeable about the wine selection (about $4-12 per glass, depending on the wine itself.) Whenever we are there, it feels like we are on vacation. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
The manager, Brian Davis, always gives us a very personal touch and is very attentive to details and strives for excellence (unlike most restaurant managers who just don't give a s**t).

My husband and I stopped in before seeing a movie this evening. He ordered the fish and chips and I ordered the "ravioli". We were both very dissapointed. The fish was so oily, my husband did not even finish it. (And he finishes everything!) The fries were room temperature, and not very good. The ravioli I had was not good at all. It was very bland, and not ravioli. There was a flat noodle on the bottom, and another one on top with sauce covering it all. It was luke warm. We were sitting next to another couple, who got there right before us. We started talking about the restaurant while we were waiting for our checks. They agreed that the food was terrible. She had a bowl of two soups together served room temperature, and she said it tasted awful. The salad that accompanied it was no bigger than her fist. Her husband was not satisfied with his dinner either. (Shrimp dish)

There are so many other good restaurants at Bridgeport. The only thing good about this place is that it is right next to the theatre. Then again, so is Sinju (wonderful) and Blue Tangerine (never tried it).

My husband and I came here for lunch today. My food was very bland and his was way to salty. I usually don't complain about food being bad but I'm sorry this was awful. We will never be back.

This fabulous place is located in the most perfect location. Before a movie or after a movie or a break from shopping you can stop in for a bite and a drink. My husband and I decided to try it out before a movie. We made it for happy hour and he had the this fish n' chip kind of a dish that was huge! I got their salad with salmon, it was delicous. Then we also couldn't pass of the rum and cokes and the rasberry lemon drops for only $4! The different martini drops that they have were all very tasty I have tried them all and my favorite is the rasberry. Anyways we found ourselves chatting with the bartender for a while and other people sitting at the bar and forgot about our movie! We ended up not going to the movie but just hung out instead at this new place that we have grown to love. I aslo have taking a friend of mine to lunch here and we had an equally nice time.

i recently dropped by split while doing my last minute holiday shopping with friends. though i didn't find what all was on my list, i did find a great place for dinner and a drink. the staff was outstanding, especially our waiter john. he was very attentive and had the best recommendations, the lemon gelato and pound cake was to die for. he mentioned that he actually makes the gelato for the restaurant as well......something i have never experienced before. overall the atomosphere was upscale but not snobby, the drinks were perfect and the food was well worth the bridgeport experience. i highly recommend this place for a delightful night out with friends.

We came across Split late last Saturday night after leaving the movie theatre just before midnight. It's a beautiful bar, especially by standards of the culture-free zone of Tigard/Tualatin. We had wine and enjoyed the ambiance of the place. The service was friendly and entertaining. We'll definitely go back to this place -- I was surprised by how few people were to be found there -- my guess is that once word gets out that more folks will migrate from McCormick & Schmicks to Split.

I recently went into Split with 4 of my girlfriends for a girls night. I was impressed from the moment we walked in. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is light and playful yet quiet and romantic. The drinks are amazing! I recomend the champagne cocktail, its heaven! The food is wonderful as well, just enough. This is a great place for friends and conversation. I now visit Split a least twice a week!

My husband and I decided to try this place before we went to see a movie at Bridgeport. We were so happy that we did. Not only do they have great drinks but they have great food as well. We did have one little hiccup and that is when my husband order a chicken salad but ended up with chicken skewers. The chicken skewers were fantastic. It was a great oops. :-) We will definitely be going back again!
