My partner and I went to Pastini for our Valentine's Day supper, and are very happy that we ended up choosing it. When I called to make reservations the week before, and was told that they don't take reservations, I thought that we would be in for a long wait when we got there. However, the service was very efficient, and we got a table within 10 mins, and we had gotten there just before 6 pm. We enjoyed our food, the service was very friendly and fast. We did not feel at all pressured to order more drinks or dessert when we were full. And when the bill came, we were pleasantly surprised at all that we had gotten for that price, considering how nice the restaurant is. Over all a great dining experience!

The waitresses are super friendly, the service is fast and the food is impressive. I wish I could afford to eat out for lunch every day!

it's always fun to try a new a new restaurant but sometimes the results are disappointing. If i want to be sure of consistently good food and a pleasant place to eat it, i go to Pastini. I've had just about everything on the menu and it's all good. Today i had the Vongole - pasta with clams - buttery and spicy and good. the molto carne and the chicken piccata are my other favorites. they have a very good wine list, the prices are beyond reasonable and it's so lovely to look out on the new park downtown. and then there's this to die for chocolate cake, if you can make room. And they emphasize local food. Bellisima!

What a wonderful place to take your family, friends and for date night including a great bottle of wine. My favorite is the Cannelloni with seafood. Many of my family members have to eat gluten free and this is the place to go for just that. I was at a family reunion this weekend and overheard my dad tell his cousin to try out Pastini becaue they have gluten free meals. Plus desserts are great and my grandkids love the kids menus!! We go every chance we get -not only for the food but for the atmosphere and great pricing we all can afford!

You might not expect an Italian restaurant to meet your low-carb needs, but Pastini has such a generous selection of salads, it's wonderful! And they even have gluten-free entrees and dessert. There's something for everyone.

What a great place! It reminds me of a New York City restaurant -- only without the high prices! Resonable wine prices. The best is the food -- it has the Italian flair. The best dish is the Linguini Chicken Piccata. The service was great. I will be back again soon!

Pros: Not a Corporate Chain

As always, Pastini is great. Their food is consistenly good from restaurant to restaurant. But the downtown site was a little too... hustling. The original Broadway site is our favorite. Visit THAT spot if you want to enjoy a calmer, quieter atmosphere with the quality, consistent cheap eat!

Pros: Consistently good food

Cons: Busy, "downtown lunch" hustle

Went to the downtown Pastini and had a terrific Arugula salad with sherry vinegrette. I ordered the large and it was a huge portion and delicious. It has croutons and cucumber, capers and peppers that blend nicely with the dressing. I recommend this salad and other dishes highly to anyone who wants great food at a great price!

I am normally wary of Italian restaurants being the snob that I am, so when my friends suggested it, I was hesitant. However, I enjoyed my experience greatly. The pasta was cooked to perfection, and I must say the use of pork and beef in the ragu is something I rarely find at restaurants.
In terms of atmosphere and service, Pastini rates very favorably.
This snob would not hesitate in recommending Pastini to anyone looking for delicious Italian fare with great atmosphere.

The Pastini Martini is the best Martini in town! There is a pasta dish to please just about anyone, lots to choose from. Good selection of local and Italian wines.

We go to Pastini whenever we want a great meal, friendly service and a guaranteed good time! They have so many wonderful dishes, it's hard to choose but my personal favorite is the Linguine Misto Mare. It has the most scrumptious blend of lemon, garlic and herbs in a light sauce that really brings out the flavor of the seafood. The portions are very generous and we love the organic bread from Pearl Bakery. We always trust their selection for the wine of the month and have never been disappointed!
They even have their "Pasta Stimulus Package" which gives you great deals on different pastas different nights for only $11.75 and that includes salad and dessert! In this economy, it is so nice to know you are going to get a first rate experience that can fit your budget!

Our office has been ordering catering from Pastini for our monthly budget meetings for about a year. We have always found the catering staff gracious and flexible. One time I forgot to call it in until the morning of and they had to our office in two hours!

We have lots of diet requests in our office and it's great to have a good variety of pastas to chose from. If you are thinking of serving deli fruit platters and sandwiches at your next meeting, try giving Pastini a try. Everyone at our office loves it.

The manager, Trevor, was less than kind on the phone. He felt it necessary to laugh when I asked him why they advertise "guaranteed delivery with a fee if ordered with a 24 hr notice" if they couldn't commit to it, especially with a 48 hr notice. Portland is still a relatively small city and customer service is still extremely important to most of us. I would suggest you take your crappy attitude elsewhere, Trevor. Pastini has officially lost my business.

When I'm downtown I like to visit this restaurant - it's a really nice space, and will soon be overlooking a park. I've always had good service, and the one time it was a bit slow because of the lunch rush, they didn't charge me for the meal. The spaghetti in meatballs is great - huge meatballs, and the price can't be beat. I really like lemon chicken pasta (there's a name for it, but apparently the built in dictionary thinks it's an inappropriate word!). Lots of choice in wine and good deserts. Really, if you want just a good meal for a reasonable price, a nice atmosphere and lots of choice, this is the place to go.

This restaurant is a great fit for the neighborhood - what a magnificent space, and as usual, Pastini is turning out quality pasta for the price. It's priced right for lunch, the service is prompt, and the atmosphere rivals more expensive options close by. It's definitely worth a visit! (PS - the Baked Ziti with Grilled Italian Sausage is my fave)

Well, I had been to this restaurant before and was very pleased but decided to go again with constructing a review in mind. I was the first one to the restaurant at 11:00 a.m. today, Wednesday. I was very promptly seated and I already knew what wine I wanted. The wine was the Red Diamond Merlot ($5.95 per glass), perfect with Italian food, especially with anything that is red sauce. Wine was perfect, not too dry but not sweet. A complete joy!

The food...amazing! I chose the Rigatoni with Meat Sauce Bolognese ($7.95). Rich with pork and beef it had a perfect spiciness to it. The only thing I would critique is that it needed more garlic for my taste. Noodles were cooked just perfect. The meat was just the right density as well, chunks that you could actually chew not just ground to a pulp. The french bread was softt and chewy, not "breaking-your-jaw"chewy though. Had enough sauce left in bottom of bowl to scoop up with last piece of bread. Salad didn't come with the meal but didn't really need it. I decided to splurge and as much as I love chocolate, the Lemon Pudding Cake ($4.95) was my choice and was divine! Light enough so not heavy on the tummy with the noodles.

I had asked for a lemon with my water; they served it on a plate. Some places bring it to me with their fingers...not this place. Very clean and nice, relaxed atmosphere. Juliana, my waitress, was always coming by to make sure I was happy and always with a smile. Tested her a couple of times on bringing extra things, always accommodating and cheerful. There was a small discrepancy on the bill but when brought to their attention they fixed it in a pinch and the owner brought the bill over and apologized. The dessert was a little less on the menu than on the bill. I forgave them since they fixed it and the owner was so kind (and handsome I might add!) I assume he was the owner...tall with dark hair. Didn't get his name.
Chef Christina, my huge compliments!

Pros: Thumbs up! Great food, service, and okay for kids too!

Cons: Poor parking as downtown, but easily accessible by MAX & streetcar.

This is my current favorite restaurant in Portland. It has been concistently satisfying so far.

The first time I had the lasagna and the tuna and white bean salad. The lasagna was good but nothing special. The lasagna noodles were too thin and narrow. The salad was good. I took it home and ate it the next day and it had held up well.

Since then I've had the spaghetti carbonara which was very rich and satisfying; accompanied with the Lenardo Pinot Gris which was crisp and refreshing. My guest had broccholini there several times and now loves it more than broccholi.
Several of us have had the Fettucine with red pepper cream sauce. So far that has been the richest and most delicious dish.
I had the Ziti di Campagna. It was good but wasn't the kind of sausage dish I'd expected. I like them crispy.
The Spinsalata and the Caesar were good salads as well as the Tuna & White Bean.
The antipasto platter is an excellent sampling of some of their appetizers, or it could be someone's main course. The Bruschetta Classico is filling and delicious.
The breads are all good. I've gotten several wines and all of them were good.
We usually go between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm. During those times it's nice and quiet, although after 5:00 it starts filling up.
The service personnel are pleasant. Some of them aren't as attentive as should be expected. The best server there was Christian S.
The best chef is Frank. His cooking is so good that before knowing if he's on duty, I can tell if he prepared the food because his cooking is always richer and more flavorful tasting.
