Thai BBQ is always amazing! We are locals that frequent here for curries, pad thai, and of course, home made salad rolls!

Very reliable good food for fair prices. We have eaten there 15-20 times and have always enjoyed the meal. Maybe not the best in Portland, but it is definitely worth a try. The staff always make you feel welcome.

This has been our "go to" take out spot for three years and the last couple of times I've noticed the cooking is slipping. We usually order the spicy noodles (pad kee mao). Tonight, when we brought it home and opened the box, the noodles looked dry. No sauce= no taste. So we drove it back to the restaurant. The waitress was really nice and apologetic but when the food came out again, I tasted it before I got in my car and the noodles were still dry except there were a ton of pepper flakes in the noodles. I decided not to go back in and try to explain again. The noodles were then scorching hot spicy and almost inedible. I'm sad because I have to find a new thai take out place.

If you're not distracted by the awesome pho place next door, try Thai BBQ. They've got a delicious pumpkin curry, and the rest of their food is equally as tasty! The prices are reasonable, and the staff is friendly!

This family owned restaurant is fresh and offers very tasty food. The location is easy to find and parking is obviously downtown. They even offer cookbooks...makes a great gift.

good, but with an awesome pho restaurant next door why bother? If you need ribs and drive by, why not? Other than a real hankering there are too many other places to choose from.

I picked up some take out from Thai BBQ last weekend and was pleasantly surprised with the food. I'm fairly picky when it comes to thai food and have had a lot of thai from around Portland. I ordered the Tom Kha soup and chicken satay skewers w/ peanut sauce. I could tell they were really busy when I called but my food was prepared and waiting for me when I showed up about 15 minutes after I placed my order. The soup had a lot of vegetables and meat in it, sometimes this soup can be a lot of coconut milk and not much else but I was really happy with Thai BBQ's version. The soup could have had a little more spice to it-although they do offer different levels of how spicy you want something but I wasn't asked when I called. The satay skewers were moist and had a great curry-ish flavor to them. Overall I was satisfied with Thai BBQ and glad it's located near me!

I had almost forgotten about this place. My grandparents and I stopped here coming back from a uncles house. We had wonder meals, the flavor, the portions, everything was perfect.

Don't be skeptical because of the gaudy exterior or how small it is. This place serves up excellent Thai. Aside from being affordable it's freakin' delicious! Try their crab fried rice. It actually has chunks of real crab in it and isn't super oily like most fried rice I've had in this city. Their portion sizes are also very reasonable and all the servers are really friendly. The only thing I didn't like were the very bland salad rolls. All in all it's a keeper. Check it out!

We've been here a couple of time but always for take out. This time we decided to eat there. Long story short, when our food was brought to us, my boyfriend's order was a completely wrong dish. As polite as possible (and I work in the service industry and I know polite), he informed the waitress that he was given the wrong dish and apologized for having cut into it. The waitress rolled her eyes at him and asked in the snottiest tone possible if he wanted to change it. He said yes and apologized again. At this point, she took his plate and then disappeared. She didn't fill our water, she didn't ask if we needed anything, nothing at all. In about fifteen minutes where his correct meal was completed, she brought it to the table, slapped it down. We thanked her and walked away without a word. She checked on the one other person in the tiny place about five times without a glance to us while we finished our meals. She brought the check without a word. And I said thank you as we were leaving and she barely acknowledged us.
The food here is really good, but we will not be back anytime soon and definitely not for anything other than take out. We will be thinking twice before discussing returning. With so many great thai places in Portland, there are a bunch of other places I could go where the food is just as good and the service is leaps and bounds better.

If you like thai food you'll love this restaurant. We especially enjoyed the green chicken curry. It is family owned and operated. I believe they offer cooking classes, and have recipe books for sale.

The items we took out were:Pad Thai, Beef salad, Shrimp and Crispy brown Chicken, Thai Iced Tea, Pork Ribs
Pad Thai: The portion was good, but a little too sweet. Most places give you some shrimp, but this place, NONE
Beef Salad: There's not enough lettuce in it! It tastes okay.
Shrimp and Crispy Brown Chicken: It tastes good but not enough!
Thai Iced Tea: Too sweet!!
Pork Ribs: I thought this was THAI BBQ, NOT the regular BBQ! This dish has the barbeque sauce you would find at Reo's Ribs!

The service is great, the prices are reasonable, but the food! OMG do they have good soups, pad thai, and seafood. Highly recommended to anyone within driving distance for a fine treat.

Decent thai food for a very reasonable price. It's small, cozy, and has a great ambience. The service has been consistently polite and helpful. I recommend the Pad Prik King w/ tofu. The tofu is fantastic in this dish -- soft and flavorful with a lightly fried exterior. The crab rangoon/wonton is reportedly the best ever tasted by a huge crab rangoon fan! The salad rolls are delicate, fresh, and coupled nicely with the sauces. I feel like I haven't really scratched the surface. So many thai restaurants in Portland make sub-par food. This place is a simple establishment minus the attitude of other tasty thai phenomena (PokPok).

I first went to Thai BBQ on a whim, and came away very pleased. The food is great in portion (big but not mammoth), flavor (more sophisticated than you'd necessarily expect), and presentation--AND it's affordable. We started ordering mostly pepper steak and pad thai, but I've branched out (with the recommendation of one of my favorite servers!) to pad see ew and pad woon sen as well. ;) If I eat in, I'm sure to order a Thai iced tea. If I take it to go? It's ready in just 10 minutes so I can call as I leave downtown and pick it up on my way home!

Pros: Food comes fast!, good menu variety, open 30 min. later on weeknights than other nearby restaurants!

Cons: Closed from 3-5pm during the week, only open for dinner on Sundays!

Who knew? I have driven past this place hundreds of times and never gave it a second thought....on a whim we decided to try it tonight and it is SO GOOD!!! A delightful surprise- we can't wait to go back and try other things. We had the tofu/vegetable yellow curry and tofu/vegetable tom kah soup. Best thai food I have had in Portland!

This undiscovered gem on busy Powell street has the best Thai food I have ever eaten! Believe me I have tried many Thai places in Portland The owner is the cook, and she makes scrumptious meals. Try anything with coconut milk in it. I try something new each time I come to eat, and I have NEVER been disappointed. The wait staff is attentive and service is fast. I eat here once a week and eat here every time I eat Thai food now. Parking lot is small, but so far no problems finding a space.
