Although it has recently opened under a new name, this complete failure of a business is still being run by the same staff as the prior "V" titled name. It has the possibility of being a great place if people with class and sense could run it. Maybe this newly named version of the original will last longer than a year.

The wine selection, of course is extensive, and the place is small but tasteful. IT is hit or miss with the service, not always super freindly, and there is music on the weekend.

Have tried to go here a couple of times during their posted hours, nobody there. There is currently a sign on the door that states they are closed until January 7th - today is January 13, and they are not there. Also, their webpage is a blank screen. Perhaps they have closed permantently - does anyone know? My one star review is based only on the fact that I can't get in to give it a real rating.

Pros: Looks nice inside

Cons: Can't go inside

I was not looking forward to going to a wine bar. I always assumed they were snobby and pretentious especially to avid beer drinkers such as myself who know nothing about wine. I was wrong. Knowing the dives I frequent would not be suitable to take a date to I was in a bind until I remembered passing by what seemed from the outside to be a classy joint on Fremont. Knowing full well women are partial to wine I figured my best shot to please would be at a chic place and preferably relatively unknown (you get bonus points for that). I was thrilled when we arrived to find out they had a handful of beers to choose from. We were attended to promptly by a very pleasant blonde fellow who was extremely helpful in making our final decision on the route to choose for our meal. He helped my date pick out, from what I was told, an excellent compliment to her meal which was served in an extremely aesthetically-pleasing manner and tasted phenomenal. I got the fondue with the sausage and almost slapped her hand away when she reached for a bite it was that good. I felt obligated to try a glass of wine seeing as how we were at a wine bar and let the bartender know my ignorance in selecting a brand. He was extremely helpful and sympathetic to my situation and picked out a wine that I actually purchase on a semi-regular basis now. We both left very pleased and in high spirits and let me tell you that was the best first date of my life. I have since then added this bar as a permanent fixture to my repertoire and will continue to do so.

I have enjoyed both my experiences at Vicinato very much. The white wine fondu, the olive bread, the anti-pasta, and especially the wine is quite tasty! Wade is a world of wealth when it comes to wine knowledge and has taught me so much in just my two visits. It is a place where I can show up after work and feel relaxed while hanging out with enjoyable people in a modern old-world environment. I love the double garage doors that open to the courtyard - I am going to have a difficult time not stopping in every evening in the summer. The Soave rocked, while the Rose of Montepulciano was hearty and yet refreshing at once - thanks Wade! See you soon...

My date and I dropped into Vinicato for a happy hour meal. We walked in and instantly liked the environment. The tables are tasteful and in the interior welcoming. We sat at a window table and enjoyed the sun warming our table. The wait staff was dressed in black t-shirts and neat. We were approached and offered menus striaght off.

We ordered the hummus combo plate and the caprise salad on sticks (interesting twist on a classic). I attempted iced tea, but was told that they were thinking of additing to the menu but do not currently carry iced tea. We were brought our plates and silverware wrapped in napkins. Upon examination of the plates we discovered that both had food residue remaining on the plates. We pointed this out to our server and asked for new plates. Our server picked up the first plate and responded, "They've been sanitized..." rubbed the smudge and continued "...I guess I can bring you knew ones."

He brought us new plates and commented many of the plates had similar smudges and that he should "check the dishwasher."

The hummus was good; the pita bread with the hummus was excellent. The salad on a stick was very good.

Over all we liked the bar; the prices were reasonable, food enjoyable. But alas, the services while attentive were snotty and unconcerned with our true enjoyment.

What a great place to hang out with a few friends. I love the laid-back atmosphere of the space. With the fire place, the couches, and good conversation it is very easy to loose track of time. The wine list seems very extensive. I am not much of a wine drinker and the staff always has a great suggestion for me to try. They also have a nice beer selection as well. The food is great, the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is perfect. Oh yeah I forgot to mention, they have live music on the weekends as well! I have lived in the neighborhood for awhile and I believe nowhere else on Fremont has live music on the weekends! It is the perfect place to get away from home, listen to good music, have some good conversations, and drink some good wine. I love the place.

Pros: Live music, great wine, great atmoshpere!

We went in really upbeat and excited, given we live in the neighborhood, it's walking distance, and we're major wine aficionados. After finding a space by the bar, we sat and perused the list, which was reasonably serviceable and not over priced. The live music started playing (awesome duo with John Ross), and it seemed like just the perfect place. However, after we sat, we sat some more, and some more, and finally (after 10 minutes and being literally 3 feet from the bar man) we were finally "noticed" and were promptly asked for our order. No hi, how are ya, yada yada, just a curt "what would you like". Not exactly what I was expecting for a neighborhood wine bar, nor typical for the area in my experience and the folks sitting next to us. It didn't get better from there really, with the experience ending by dropping the check off w/out saying anything, which I guess was at least was consistent... Given the fact this is the first review I've ever written (apologies for any lapse of review etiquette), I was really disappointed, especially since it's so close to us and we really, really wanted to like the place. Okay, perhaps it was just this one individual on an off night, but I don't think that's a good excuse. Bottom line, given all the choices in the area, it will not a place we'll be going back to nor recommending to our fellow winos. No matter how good the music is, or the wine could be, it's just not worth arrogant service.

Pros: Atmosphere, Music

Cons: Indifferent / Arrogant Service

.

The food is delicious, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the atmosphere is perfect, and the wine is fantastic. A great variety of choices on the wine menu and even a few beers on tap. I always find myself thinking of this place whether I'm looking for good music on a Friday night or just a great place to spend a few hours any night of the week. What are you waiting for... go now!

Vicinato Wine Bar is an excellent and long needed addition to the Beaumont Village neighborhood. The staff is as warm and inviting as the fireplace. The wine selection is great and affordable. The food is awesome as well. Try Tims fondue... it rocks! And don't miss the live music on Fridays.

What a fun place to relax with some great friends and explore some new wines. I am a new wine guy and looking for a place that can help me travel throught the wine county. The staff is helpful and with such a cozy space you never have to wait for help. The fire place is such a great complement to a wine bar. Oh I almost forgot there is live music.

This place has only been around since Nov. but I've been a couple of times and always enjoyed myself. They've got a chill and comfy atmosphere and I love sitting by the fire on the sofas. Because of its smaller size, the staff and owners can take the time to give me a good recommendation or try something until i find what i like. Its not a hoity-toity wine joint (i am sooo intimidated at those), its for us who want to learn about wine, but my friend who knows his stuff was pleasantly surprised by the wine lists. Yes, it is annoying that the bathrooms are in a shared corridor with the other businesses (why!?). Also, it can get pretty busy on friday when there is live music, so tables usually fill up by 8 (really fun, but no dancing room...). Overall, im gonna keep going back and watch how this little wine bar grows.
