My husband and I have been looking for a place to rent in West Linn for months. When we spotted a cute condo for rent in West Linn we were ecstatic and called the property management company listed on the add, First Class Property Management. After a couple days without a response I called again and left another message expressing my interest in the condo. A few more days passed by and I still didn't get a call back. Finally I emailed them and a week or so later I received an email on a Saturday morning stating that they were going to be showing the condo to a group of people that very morning at 11am. Since I don't constantly check my email I missed the showing and promptly emailed them back to try and set up another appointment . That was 4 days ago and I have yet to talk to anyone in person about this condo or receive an email back. I know this particular condo is still available since it has been re posted on Craigslist daily. My thought is...if you're getting paid to manage a property, which includes communicating with potential renters then communicate with them! It makes you as a business look bad when you can't even call/email potential clients back in a timely manner. I have personally seen this property on Craigslist for over a month now! It must be a huge waste of money for the property owner to have a rental just sitting there that could be rented out if FCPM would call back potential renters. So, if you own a condo in West Linn on Meridian Circle and use First Class as your property management company I recommend that you find another PM or try renting your condo out independently.

I've been renting my property from First Class Property Mgmt for almost a couple of years now. Anytime that I've needed a repair, they took care of it. They repaired the gutters, they had the chimney cleaned when I requested it, they replaced the water heater immediately when it became a problem. I didn't have a back screen door when I moved in so I bought one and they took the cost off my rent. They take care of the landscaping, and have been very understanding the few times that I've had to pay my rent a little late. I don't understand why they have all bad ratings here, but I like my property and I like the people that I'm renting from so they get a high rating from me. I should also say that the rent is affordable, and I do not feel at all that I'm being ripped off by a greedy landlord.

Pros: Responsive Property Manager

Cons: Can't think of any

We have rented this place for awhile, with numerous renters going thru the doors. This company the reason? They don't return calls, or take care of business like repairs, or health concern issues (mold). It doesn't seem they care about their tennants, and that you don't matter. Letters, phone calls, reminders...not much communication from them. The bills are screwy and they leave it up to the tennants to fight it out (duplex home), they pay trash only and leave it up to the tennants to decide how much to rent out the rooms, since there are 3 BR up and 2 BR down they only give what the total rent is, not how to separate it or the bills.. When this happens, one tennant ends up paying for some of the utilities then hopes to get reimbursed from the others. 1st class doesn't seem to care.

Pros: good location of home

Cons: inattentive, seemingly uncaring company, rent high for what you get

Ive been renting from them for several months now, and we started having problems with the house after about the first month. We were able to get a hold of them at first, but now they will not answer the phone or return our calls. The problems with the place keep adding up, and they still will not return our calls. Its really to bad because I like the house and the location, I just wish they would keep their word.

After completing a credit check and verbally agreeing to sign the lease and move in, we then call the next day to confirm. Then we are informed that the house was sold four days earlier. We were not informed and we all have no where to live now because of First Class Property Management. After reading these other reviews it is clear that they run a bad business, do not do business with this company.

Still trying to get the rest of my $1000.00 deposity back. When a wind storm blew down the fence in the backyard, the neighbor contacted them about splitting the cost of replacement - to which they responded the neighbor (homeowner) should ask the renter (me). House was not move in ready when we moved in, furnace filter was to be replaced when we took possession - never replaced. Also 6 months after taking possession of the unit, they sent me 6 months worth of the garbage bill and stopped paying for service in violation of state statutes that mandate garbage service be provided to renters within Portland city limits. It took several letters threatening litigation and a complaint to the well known consumer advocacy group that starts with a "B" to get the situation resolved. I worked in property management -- there are ethics and responsibilities involved that are not heeded by this company. They are in the business of taking advantage of unawary tenants who don't understand their rights. I suggest you avoid renting from them if at all possible.

I loved the location I rented at Canyon Rd and Canyon Drive from this property manager, with just a 15 min. bus ride to downtown Portland. I loved my large balcony, and porch. Unfortunately management lied to me when I first moved in by telling me that rent wouldn't be raised anymore than the cost of living increase, and then turned around and raised the rent $100 with no explanation other than that is how it is. I always felt like I was putting management out by asking them to fix something. I never got a peeling paint problem fixed, or a mold problem corrected. I only got a quick fix for a leaky tub that should have had the plumbing replaced. I decided $835 for a 2 bedroom in this condition was too much, and found better accommodations close by. I also put down a $1000 deposit, and after 34 days have yet to see any of it back. Neighbors also have had problems with the management taking them seriously, and I think these people are ripping off the owner by not maintaining the property in a responsible way.
