We used Haskell Auction to liquidate the estate of my mother. They took two large box trucks of my mother's belongings and spent two days at her home picking and choosing the items they felt would sell. We were very disappointed when the estate received a check for 561.60. We felt two box trucks full of merchandise would certainly bring more but we also understand that sometimes things just don't sell for what you would like.. But what was even more disappointing was when they would not send us any accounting for what any of the items sold for. They told us our copy was lost in the mail. A letter was written to the auction house voicing these concerns but we have not received a reply.

I wish I could give this business a negative rating. I hope others read this and think twice about doing business with this company.I am copying my report to the better business bureau below:

I saw a TV advertisement regarding the Haskell Antique Auction. I made contact with them to arrange to sell my antique dining room table 6 chairs, china cabinet, antique mirror, library table, & short waive radio. My husband I both emphasized the value of the furniture at being appraised at more than $10,000.00 about 10 years prior. They assured us they would be able to get "good money" for the items. I had been very ill for the past 5 years, & just being released from one month of hospitalization, & with the upcoming wedding of our daughter we explained we wanted to sell the furniture to help with expenses & purchase a smaller set

Phillip and Jackie Ward came to our house a few days before the October 2nd Auction, & picked up the furniture. They were very aware of the fact that I had been ill, & would most likely not be able to attend the auction.A few weeks later we received a check for all of the furniture we had consigned to them. For total of $279.00 - this amount is utterly ridiculous. Obviously, we had been taken advantage of. The library table had been refinished for 1800.00 about 10 years prior, by the only certified antique refinisher in the state, at that time we were told this piece of furniture was valued at least 10x this value. The Ward's were well aware of the value of this furniture, and they absolutely took advantage of us.

Being totally upset over the situation, I did not even attempt to cash the check for several days, then on the 15th of October, I noticed the check had no signature. I called Ms. Ward, who told me I could just sign her name to the check and it would be OK. I informed her that I was not comfortable signing the check with her signature, & returned the check to her in the mail after making a copy for my records. It took several weeks to receive the check back in the mail, with her signature. On Nov. 3rd, I still had not received the signed check back in the mail, wondering if it would even clear, I called the bank & using the copy of the check, found out that the check would not clear. Several days later I received the signed check in the mail. I held onto the check for a few days, worried it wouldn't clear if I deposited it into my account, I had planned to take it to Tulsa to cash it on my next trip. On Nov. 26th I called the bank again to see if the check would clear, & once again I was told it wouldn't clear the bank. At this point, I didn't want to make a trip to Tulsa to try to cash a check that was not good. After talking to the bank about what to do, I deposited it into my acct. so that it could be documented as insufficient. It was returned, just verifying the fact that the Wards have scammed us.

I am really disappointed in them, and the way they represent themselves as being such good Christian people, gaining your trust by emphasizing their Christianity, talking about their Church and offering to pray for me and my illness, all the while planning to take advantage of and scam me. I hope others are able to read this and realize they should not do business with these people.

I took it upon myself to find out who this Ronald person is by google. I miss confess he seems troubled. No company is perfect and life happens. I find that he may also have a problem with "c" word christians since he himself is a pagan. In the auction "lots" consignment may not all get sold during one auction session. As far as the check problems I have never had any trouble cashing my check from them. I also know that the Auction and JWard Designs are not the same company. Jackie does art and hand made fashions seperate from the auction biz. Anyone with question about this matter should call the auction and also check out the character of the unhppy customer of the first negative post
