The new location is so much more open and inviting than their old place and I personally find the food and service to be better than it used to be. Their sushi is always fresh and innovative. It is the only place that we go for sushi!

Before Irashiai expanded onto Pleasantburg Road, they were tucked away in a little back corner off Wade Hampton. Back then, the owner would stop by your table for a chat, and to make sure your dining experience had been pleasureable. Not anymore. I have tried the "new, improved" Irashiai several times, and I always come away disappointed. The service is slow, much slower than any other sushi I've ever had, and the staff seems to know nothing about the food, so asking questions is fruitless. The last time we ate there, one of our tuna dishes was inedible, but we didn't see our server for such a long time, we decided it wasn't worth even trying to send it back and order something else by the time she made it back to our table. The prices are pretty high, and it surprises me that people keep coming back to this place.

Prpbaly the oldest shi place in Greenville. The sushi is not bad, but horribly slow and bad service. I have given up trying to eat there because they cannot deliver food to the table within the time I have for lunch. The waiters do not seen to care about the customers. Save your money and find sushi elesewhere. There are much better sushi restaurants in Greenville wiyth more popping upo every month.

Cons: Service

With the new location on 291 between 385 and the downtown airport it replaces what used to be the old Dragons Den.

The sushi is excellent, fresh and lovingly detailed. Despite some of the prices on items compared to other sushi places locally it actually is cheaper! This is in comparison to the one on Haywood Rd. When you compare the serving sizes vs price it is a good deal.

Service is good. Best right after opening but gets slower later when the place fills up. Yet it is well worth the wait. The atmosphere is lively with a wide range of characters inside. I often go right at opening and can get a meal consisting of 4 orders of salmon sushimi, 2 of tuna, buffalo oysters and a salad with the wife getting her own order and be done in 40 minutes or sooner generally.

A wide range of choices to choose from! As someone who has traveled Asia on business and married to a native of Hong Kong, We both agree that it is the very best Japanese place in town. Not Kanpai style, there are others available but no one in town serves sushi with the freshness of Irashai. Having eaten sushi in Taipai, HK, Shanghai, Penang, Malaysia to name a few, none of them have matched the freshness or taste of this unique gem right in the heart of Greenville.

You can practically get shushi anywhere these days; but if you are looking for the best...look no further! Irashiai not only has the freshest shushi, but they also have the largest selection and best sushi chefs anywhere! Plus the atmosphere is fun and exciting. I haven't been to the new location; however, if it is anything like the old one...you're in for a real treat!
