Officer Stapleton must have went through a different type of training than the other officers. I say this because on Friday, September 15, 2006 he saved my life. I wasn't involved in a wreck or a domestic violence case, it was much worse to me. I was going to take my life that night. I had already told everyone that I loved goodbye and was prepared to face the final consequences of my decision. Then Officer Stapleton introduced himself to me at a mutual friends house. He had no idea what I had planned to do or who I was. He just began to tell me about himself and I noticed that I was beginning to make a friend. The entire time I was asking him questions about his career as an officer. I wanted to know what he would do in certain situations.. situations like mine. He didn't know it, but he was slowly talking me out of suicide. I couldn't believe that I was listening to an Officer of the Blackville Police Department talk me out of suicide. A final destination that I had thought long and hard on for days. Officer Stapleton saved my life and I will never forget that.

Now, He is a good officer and should be treated and paid accordingly. Officer Stapleton and many others like him deserve so much more money and recognition for what they do. They get calls and leave their wives/husbands and children - never knowing what is on the other side of that call. Will they be facing bullets? Will they have to fight? Who knows! We could all start by showing a little more respect for the law enforcement. They aren't there to make us feel stupid.. and they aren't all big headed! It's my plea for everyone that reads this to please.. stop and think when you are approached by and officer. They are there to save our lives and protect the lives of our children. I would put my life in Officer Stapleton's hands any day of the week. Too bad Blackville isn't my home anymore.

Thank you Officer Stapleton for everything you have done.

To the Chief~ He's the BEST and deserves the BEST!
