El Patron is a fantastic mexican restaurant that stands up to any other in the Spartanburg area. It is tucked away in a small strip on highway nine in between business 85 and I-85. (Locals may know the location as the old Ron's Hog Pen barbecue.)
The restaurant is extremely clean and the employees are very friendly. Our waiter was especially helpful as we deciphered the menu and checked on us often. I had the Quesadilla Reno with chicken and I was shocked at the portion size---two well-stuffed quesadillas with cheese, green chiles and chicken--beautifully arranged with lettuce, sour cream and pico de gallo! (I took enough home for a second meal.) It was very tasty!
The price was exceptional for our party. Two adults and three teenagers enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa along with soft drinks, a small cheese dip, two of the above quesadilla dishes, two individual quesadillas with steak, an order of three tacos and one soft taco for about $8.00 per person.
Give this place a try--you won't be sorry!
