Called this morning @ 6am (PSDT) to inform this location that the transmission they repaired and charged me $548.17 on December 1, 2015 to repair is leaking. Prior to the car being returned to us, we were told the transmission had been repaired but their was a leak. It would be test driven and leak but would be sealed. Obviously it wasn't done - the transmission is leaking!!!

@ 6:15am (PSDT), I called back to find out if they had a warranty. Was told "30 days on parts and labor". I hung up. I then spent the next eight hours trying to work out how to get the car to this location from New Orleans.

@2:30pm (PSDT), called back and asked to speak with Paul (the owner), I was rudely told he was out of the office for the next 1month, 2months, 3months, 4months, 5months -angrily. When I said I need to discuss the car that was repaired last week and has been leaking. Was then BLASTED, YELLED at the accused of blocking my number cause I am hiding or trying to hide something.

First of all, instead of worrying about why my phone is blocked they needed to worry about the fact that I paid for repair that was not completed. They needed to be more concern with the fact that they are doing sub-par work and hiding and using strong arming when asked to deal with a repair that was not completed when services was paid.

When I called this office on November 23, Paul spoke with the at length to get my business; however, since the car was received I had not been able to get a returned call from Paul.

His staff continues to say he is out of the office, is rude, yells me when being told a problem exist with the repair, is more concerned about my calls coming from a "blocked" number than making sure they take care of business.

Be sure to check around and find a location that takes care of the services you pay them to perform...BUYER BEWARE!

BTW - I will be reviewing options to report the abusive behavior of staff at this office, filing a claim for the cost of the repairs and if necessary seek legal actions against this location.

I have recorded all conversations between myself and this location for my record!

I brought my Fox Body Mustang into AAMCO last Friday. I met Paul Alline, the shop owner, and I explained that I blew the transmission testing my car. I asked for a price to rebuild it but he explained that he was unable to give me a price until he opened the unit up. Paul did give me a maximum price of a stock rebuild of $2900. He also explained that if I wanted racing upgrades then there would be additional cost incurred depending upon the item. Paul sent me pictures of the part that broke once he had my transmission disassembled. He also quoted that with a stock rebuild and a Torque Converter would be $2479. I discussed with Paul the upgrades that I wanted and he was able to build and install my High Performance transmission for just over $3400. That price includes a 3000 stall converter. Thankyou Paul! I highly recommend this shop.

I woke up last Tuesday to my car not moving. My Mom wanted the car sent to Bill at Aamco on Hickory Ave. She called AAA and had my car towed to the shop. We got the bad news once they looked at my car. My 2008 Honda Accord transmission failed. My Mom took care of the repairs, but she didnt have enough good things to say about the experience. She told me that that the final bill was lower than the estimate. My Mom said that it was great to have a mechanic keep his word and not try and take advantage of her.

These guys are great. I perform most of my repair work on my F-350 4x4 (aka Black Beauty), but I had a rear and front differential installed into my truck by a buddy of mine. What a mistake. My friend and I , installed the differentials 3 different times, and never got them installed correctly. A different friend of mine recommended bring my truck over to AAMCO on Airline. He highly recommended these guys. The new differentials had to be replaced because of improper installation. Jon, at AAMCO, had the differentials installed within a day. The best thing was that it took one time to install the new gears. I should have went to AAMCO the first time. I learned my lesson. There are some things that needed to be performed by professionals. These guys are deffinitely professionals. I highly recommend these guys.

I heard a noise and a bump when my car shifted in my 2004 Nissan Maxima. The first shop I went too said it was the transmission body (something like that) and I needed a new transmission. I felt a little uncomfortable about the explanation so I decided I wanted a second opinion. A friend recommended Paul at AAMCO near Airline Hwy. I took her recommendation and went to AAMCO. They explained that I needed brakes (the noise in the front end) and a front transmission mount. I dropped the car off this morning prepared for the shop to come back with more problems. I just left the shop and nope, the bill was as promised. My Nissan is back to her old self. I Highly recommend this shop.

I went into the Ford dealership wanting a transmission flush (my car was not having any problems. This was a maintence service my husband said I needed.) on my 2004 Ford Crown Victoria. The service manager said that my transmission was bad and I needed a new one. He said it would cost about $3200. He also said that I would be lucky to make it home so I should have the work performed immediately. I called my husband and he said to get a second opinion. I remember passing by the AAMCO on Airline and Hickory AVE a few times so I went there for a second opinion. Being a lady I expected that I would go into the AAMCO and have the same diagnosis explained to me by Ford. To my surprise that did not happen. Once my car was inspected, Don the manager stated that I had a leaking transmission. He said he could fix it for $125, which included a transmission service. The work was performed last Tuesday and my car still works great! I recommend this place.

I had problems with my 1988 Mustang 5 speed transmission getting it to go into gear. I went to the other national chain and they told me that I needed a rebuilt transmission with a $2500 price tag. I decided I wanted a second opinion so I brought it to AAMCO. It turned out that the transmission was fine but the master cylinder (part of the clutch) was leaking. Don, the manager, had my car repaired within 3 hours for $432. Reliable and fast service, what a combination tell them Phil sent you!!

Just picked up my truck and it runs great. My 1993 GMC Suburban K2500 had stopped shifing. First gear only. My regular mechanic advised I take it to a transmission repair. I chose AAMCO on Hickory after reading the reviews left on city search.

I spoke with Don on the phone, the manager, and felt comfortable after talking with him to let them check it out, and then do the work. He advised it could be electrical problem, or, the tranny it's self. I was advised they would check the electrical first and call me. Don said it needed the electrical work and quoted me a price for the job Turns out it was was an electrical problem. The quote was spot on, and they were very fair on the over all price and did not pad the bill with labor. My car runs great. Shifting nicely, running nicely and I am happy to say that this is a very fair repair shop. Got my truck back in a few days. I would recommend to family & friends. Good Job Guys. Thank You!

I would like to thank the guys at Aamco. I went in believing that I had a transmission shift solenoid problem (autozone) in my 2003 BMW and was expecting to pay thousands. After they did the road test and computer checks, the manager, Don, tells me he believes the previous owners used the wrong oil in the transmission, he recommended a flush and oil change instead of thousands of dollars of repairs, so thank you to the fine people at Aamco you are honest and professional

So I would highly recommend this company to any of you that have rough shifting or any other transmission related problems

I brought my 2000 Dodge 3500 in to AAMCO because it would not shift into reverse. I went to Cottman and a small shop on Causeway looking for the best price. My last stop was AAMCO on Hickory next to LeSalle Park. Don had his team look at my truck and as the other two shops stated I was in need of a rebuild. I choose AAMCO because I felt the most comfortable with the way I was talked too. Don gave me a price range for the repair. I expected that the price would be at the top of the range. I was pleasely surprised that the price was near the middle of the range. He also performed a few repairs that should increase the longevity of my transmission for towing for no extra charge. I highly recommend these guys!!

I live on the north shore, my car quit working on the south shore. No matter if I put it in reverse, drive, or neutral it would still act as if it were in park. So I call a mechanic friend of mine, who is a manager at a car business, he tells me to take it to Aamco, since it's a transmission problem. He tells me that he's never had experience with them, but they are supposed to be reliable and have free diagnostics.

I get my car towed and talk to the manager Don. He tells me that they'll let me know something in about two hours. My cell dies, so I go over there about four hours later. The car is still where I left it and they hurry up and put it up on the rack. No big deal, they had other things going on I'm sure. I tell him to let me know something tomorrow. The next day he calls me and tells me that they need to take the transmission apart to find the problem, but I can't afford $1,500 -$2500 to get it fixed when they do find the problem, so I tell him that I'll be over to tow it the next day.

The next day, I'm on my way over there and already called a tow truck. I call Don and ask if my cars in a place that the truck can get to it. He says it's still up on the rack, it'll be a few hours, he'll call me. I cancel the tow truck and I'm a little bothered, but I'm more bothered when he doesn't call me back that day. I have other things to do, so I put it off for another day.

Two days later, it was Sunday, I call and he tells me that they close in 15 minutes. I said that's fine, as long as it's in a place I can get it, just leave the keys on the floor and I'll be there shortly. I get there and my car is parked over a curb, with the back wheel in the grass and the front wheel in the driveway. The car is kind of low sitting and over the curb, so it's actually touching the curb when I sit in it. There's a metal piece that looks like it's part of the car sitting on the passenger side floor. Out of curiosity, I check the transmission fluid, it's empty. I go get a couple of quarts and put it in and the stick is still showing up empty, so I get two more and it's still showing up empty.

Not only has the transmission been drained and there's a metal piece on the passenger side floor, but the symptoms are different. I can put the car in neutral and push the car now, which I need to do so the tow truck can get to it, since the curb was in the way.

I talked to some mechanics. They said the transmission was drained because they probably started working on it, which I told them not to do. One mechanic was pretty certain that the metal piece is a starter shim. Both mechanics said that they probably started working on it, then they were mad when I said I wasn't going to get the work done, which would also explain why Don didn't seem nearly as nice to me as when I first talked to him, before my car was touched. One mechanic guessed that the symptoms are different because they may have actually fixed it, then messed it back up. The other said that when they started working on it and put it back together, it just may have affected what it was doing.

Overall, I'm not very happy, but I haven't contacted Don about it yet, because with my losing my job and having to take my child out of day care from not having a car, then my other car breaking down, that just hasn't been a primary concern. I just came across reviews while looking up where to bring my other car and decided to post.

I would like to respond to the comments Mr. Phillips posted above. I am the owner of the shop in question. There are some truths in Mr. Phillips statements but some important factors he failed to mention. First, as most people know, the level of warranty coverage (the amount of money a warranty company will pay) a person purchases is dictated by the purchaser. Most car companies sell different levels of coverage that the purchaser agrees to at the time of purchase of the warranty to the amount of coverage. The purchaser decides the value of the coverage compared to the cost. When a consumer brings in a car to a repair facility with an extended warranty, there is little negotiating between the repair facility and the warranty company. All coverage is pre determined by the customer warranty contract.
In this case Mr. Phillips chose a cheaper warranty coverage which saved him money upon the purchase of the warranty. Mr. Phillips did indeed have his car at my shop for almost 40 days but failed to mention the other issues. First, his contract with the warranty company had minimum repair coverage. It also stated that the warranty company could replace any damage part with a like (used) part. In Mr. Phillips case he declined to pay the difference between a rebuilt Transmission and the used transmission the warranty company provided. The warranty company shipped 3 transmissions for Mr. Phillips car which all three were useless. The first transmission sent to my shop was a unit with a cracked case. The second transmission was the wrong transmission and the third unit went under water (which ruined the transmission). After the third unit was shipped and a week went by, the warranty company was having problems locating another transmission. I then volunteered to build Mr. Phillips transmission at cost to hopefully gain a customer. I built Mr. Phillips transmission and had his car to him within 4 days. Mr. Phillips, for whatever reason declines to mention our efforts in trying to satisfy him.
Mr. Phillips motioned that I never fixed his car and that I directed him to take it to the dealership. I assume he means to have them fix it. This is simply inaccurate. Once we rebuilt his transmission, there was still a need to have his Car??s computer reflashed (reprogrammed). This is requirement on some car/trucks but not all. I am unsure why Mr. Phillips made this statement but, I have a copy of his receipt that the warranty company paid, with his signature which would prove his inaccurate claim.
Next Mr. Phillips claims that I told him I would pay for rental car which is simply untrue. He spoke to the Manager on duty which he explained that he would submit the bill to me. We explained to Mr. Phillips, that we would not be paying for his rental car expense; he should discuss his claim with his warranty company. If Mr. Phillips would have sued his own warranty company, it would have demonstrated his poor judgment (most warranties have an optioned that covered rental expenses but he declined that choice). Mr. Phillips then sued me for over $630 in rental car charges. Therefore we did indeed go to court and he won the suit for rental expenses. My lawyer felt there was no merit to the claim but he felt the cost would be considerably more than $630; therefore, I relented and paid for his rental car. To this day I still do not understand how I lost the case and was responsible for his rental car expense. The judge would never explain his judgment except that his decision was law. Once the case was finalized, Mr. Phillips agreed to update his complaint on this site and give the whole story. As of today, he stills has not fulfilled his promise; therefore, I felt compelled to respond to his inaccurate claims. These people are dishonest and incapable. I had my Saturn Vue there for 40 days and they could not fix it. When at last they returned my car they told me to bring it to the Saturn dealership. Because they kept my car soo long the said they would pay my rental car expenses. HA!! You guessed it, after 10 days of saying tomorrow we will cut the check the finally came clean. No check - no reimbursement! Sorry !! Completely dishonest! Do Not trust these people with your vehicle.
