Didn't like it the first time, gave it another chance. Still don't like it. Tables jammed together so we were forced to endure a one-sided conversation the entire time we were there. We moved the table to give ourselves some breathing room

I have been an Elizabeth's patron for several years and have always looked forward to brunch there. My most recent visit, however, was most disappointing and was likely my last.\r

We were told it was worth the walk through the Bywater just for the fried oysters and the dream burger. It took a lot of convincing to make us walk in New Orleans just for a burger, and it was worth it as this was the farthest thing from just a burger. Praline bacon (didn't even ask what it was, but it was sweet and fatty and a bit of heaven) and about 4 goops of blue cheese.

The walk was pretty, a slow paced 15 minute meander from the French Quarter that would have been worth it even without the delicious food at the end. With the oysters and burger added it was unforgettable. Make it down there, you won't regret it.

My local friends turned me on to this spot which is definitely not on the typical tourist list.

Their French Toast is unbelievable and they have the best
Po Boys.

Warning- the locals love this place- it was packed when we were there.

Elizabeth's is surely a place to visit for breakfast in Bywater, especially on the weekends. But make sure you arrive early, otherwise you will be "forced" to go upstairs and drinks a couple of mimosas or bloody mary's. Torture in the nth degree. Anyway, not known by most, but known by those in the know, so go early and enjoy!

Pros: Alcohol and breakfast, need I say more?

Cons: Waiting an hour to get a plate of scrambled eggs

This is my first post here.

Elizabeth's doesn't look like much inside or outside, but, the Fried Chicken made up for that. Be there when they first open at 6:00, and you might have the whole place to yourself.

Went there several years ago during the Jazz Festival. It is now on our list of can't miss spots whenever we go to New Orleans. The Waffles are unbelievable, warm, with fresh fruit and homemade whipped cream. My husband loves the spicy sausages and egg dishes that are served. The interior is really fun, and the serving staff is warm and friendly. We haven't made it for dinner yet, but hope to on our next trip.

I'm a local and Elizabeth's is one of my favorite places to eat lunch. They have daily specials that change from week to week. All of the desserts are made in-house. This restaurant has a wonderful neighborhood feel.

8 of us showed up at 10:30 on Saturday morning, put our name on the board and were seated within 30 minutes. The wait staff was charming, knowledgable and very good. Loved the stuffed oysters and the gumbo was very good. The desserts looked great but we were STUFFED by that point. A very affordable and delicious experience - we'll be back.

Pros: Food, Service, Value

A very popular place for locals. It's unassuming but once you're seated be prepared for some of the best and most filling entrees east of the FQ. I had South Carolina quail in a tasso, leek and thyme gravy. I felt like a fat, happy cat when I was through. And I now totally understand the sign at the cash register---"You want SECONDS?!"

Give me Elizabeth's over that other famous E restaurant anytime. The Praline Bacon, Eggs Elizabeth, Redneck Eggs Benedict - poached eggs perched atop fried green tomatoes instead of english muffins - this is my favorite favorite breakfast place of all time. The only downside is it's new-found popularity is making it harder to get a seat!

Some of you folks in the audience have never been to Elizabeth's. Let me tell you this is the place. Good solid breakfast, tasty po'boy sandwiches, and deelicious lunch plates keep the Bywater locals coming back daily. Wait it gets better. For the big eaters at home they got some fine desserts. I'm talking Red Velvet Cake, Bread Pudd'n, and homemade ice cream. You gotta check this place out.

BAM!

We found Elizabeth's by accident but go there now EVERY trip. Call ahead and find out what day they are serving their INCREDIBLE fried chicken. Also try the Hummingbird cake. In fact everything we've ever had there is delicious. This is hands down our favorite restaurant in New Orleans, and well worth the cab ride into bywater. It's about a $5 cab ride each way from the Quarter, perhaps $7 each way from the CBD.

No other restaurant gives such a convincing approximation of dining in someone's quaint kitchen. From the grandma's-house decor to the solid menu of home-cooked favorites, Elizabeth's delivers on every aspect of homey authenticity. Breakfast selections are fair, although the hash brown potatoes are crispy and excellent. The roast beef po-boy is pound-on-the-table good.

There have been a lot of changes at Elizabeth's since the days when it could be regarded as an underground eatery. Back then, it was best-known to a cadre of neighborhood regulars and those they invited along for breakfasts and brunches of…
