Me and my family kind a new in town and our friend took us to have a dinner at Shinto, they introduce us to the item that they like hibachi steak and shrimp, Hawaii fruit roll and American roll. That was the the best hibachi and sushi we've ever taste that we never had in where we from. This place become our most favorite intown. Now we're regular here and all staffs are very nice and pretty much knows what we want. I would recommended this place to all new people in Lafayette.

the sushi is excellent and always fresh.. the service is decent.. i hate to be bothered when i'm eating so even tough they don't pass as much as other restaurants its not a big deal i always have something to drink and don;t have to ask for a plate to be taken..

The sushi is very good, and they have hibachi tables as well. Not as 'fancy' as far as the atmosphere, but that could be a good thing. The price is typical for sushi.

After being rushed to our seats we were promptly brought hot wash cloths followed almost immediately by Miso Soup. This is where the unforgivable poor service started. Our waitress (who seemed disoriented) came over to take our drink orders. A moment later a different waiter approached us to take our drink orders. As we took the first taste of the soup, the waitress came back, and explained that the manager was getting upset that we didn't have our napkins on our laps and proceeded to place them in our laps for us while snarling "in case you didn't know what these were for." Wow! Really?! I wanted to leave and should've left at that point. But, I was hungry and willing to give them a second chance, after all, the Miso Soup was pretty tasty.

Our soup bowls were taken away and a moment later another server brought out hot wash cloths and two more bowls of Miso Soup. They had no idea we'd already been taken care of.

So, we placed our order and enjoyed the bizarre ambiance...large tv blaring the History Channel nearby, oversized group right beside us celebrating loudly, view of the parking lot through the large windows next to the seating area.

We ordered one roll and they brought out 3. The other waiter peaked out when our waitress informed him of this error and he exclaimed loudly across the room (referring to the sushi order sheet), "that was a one?!"

Although the food tasted great and the presentation was good, a big thumbs down and definitely won't be giving them a second visit, unless I feel like being insulted and degraded.

By the way, the lady at the table beside me did not put her napkin in her lap and noone ever came out to take care of that.

Pros: Food was very good and they have a wide assortment of sushi rolls.

Cons: Service was insulting and condescending
