I?m from Chicago and one of my most favorite places in Arizona is the town of Crown
King the Saloon Bar and the Mill Restaurant and all the history of this little place in the mountains. If your idea of a day out for adventure is driving to the Scottsdale Fashion Sq Mall, having lunch at the Princess, a valium and a cocktail at Maestros while driving your spotless hummer that?s only seen dirt and 4WD because your wife backed over the mail box leaving the driveway once, than this unbelievable place is not for you. Now if your adventurous, want to step back in time for a little reality and don?t mind a little dust in your jeep, beer, food or your hair this place is a don?t miss destination. The Saloon is steeped in historical significance, the beer is always flowin and gooooood, and Cindy and her cafe are awesome ( just don?t be in a hurry because no one else is ? take a deep breath and relax ) From the minute you leave the pavement from either the Bumble exit or the Bloody Basin exit ( those are the easiest ways but there are several more for the hard core adventurers ) the trip, food, people and the setting is well worth it.
Just a note: If your uptight, snobby, or in a hurry and your idea of camping is a night at the Ritz ? your prognosis for a great time is DOA.
