I had my dream dress but it was too big. Joyce took it and literally worked a miracle and in less than two weeks. It is perfect and I am extremely pleased. The customer service is friendly and helpful. Thank you so much :)

If I could give more stars I definately would. This is the BEST place ever for alterations! We needed a rush job and they were VERY accomidating. Super nice people and Joyce knows her stuff! She also makes beautiful elegant dress's.

If I could put 10 stars I would. I had a ball gown with lots of detail and bead work. I needed to have it taken down from a 16, to approximatly a 6. I had called everyone in Sierra Vista and even David's Bridal where I had unfortunatly

I recently went to Hem& Her and I couldn't ask for a better experience. I'm getting married in a few months so I'm under a deadline. The day of my appointment I was running late due to traffic and the owners were really kind to stay after closing hours. My wedding gown is gorgeous and at a great price. I definitely recommend this place!!??

We were recommended by a close family friend.

I was going to getting married and I desperately

needed a wedding gown. I bought my beautiful dress

there at a reasonable price!

We needed to decide on what type of tuxedo they

needed. One of the sales person showed us a variety

of tuxedos. She was very creative and friendly. We

decided to go with the zoot suits. They were nice and

they came with all the accessories, including: chains,

kane, hat, ect..

We had a beautiful wedding and everyone looked

great!! We are happy to have worked with this business

in the great city of Tucson!

A few years ago I was in desperate need of alterations and I drove by Hem and Her and inquired about alterations. The employees were nice and gave me a free written quote.

The next day I took a few blouses and she took in from the sides due to my recent weight loss :)!!!

My family and I have been their customer for many years and we are happy with the way we are treated.

I like this place because it's fast service!

I was having a problem with my wedding dress and HEM&HER came to the rescue. One seamstress made the bussell and made a new design that made it look gorgeous. She also made my veil for me and she put a lot of pretty beads and it just looked spectacular..

I took in several other formal dresses and she made them short for the spring season. Everyone loved the way they looked on me :)

In a couple months my daughter will be getting married and she will definitely go buy a pronovia dress there!

I am really really happy and her service was great!

My daughter recently had her Quinceaera and she looked amazing! We went there to look at the different dresses and they were just adorable. There were a variety of dresses to choose from and all different elegant colors.

The staff was super nice and easy going. The alterations were done perfectly. My daughter and I were very pleased with everyone.

They also had a great deal on the tuxedos for my husband, son, and nephews. They looked sharp and they fit comfortably in them..

I have recommended this place to everyone I know!

Just a heads up ladies and gents...BEWARE of Joyce. She is a certifiable nutcase who is no fun to do business with. Unfortunately, her mental, emotional and personal problems will become your business if you choose to give her your business if you know what I mean... and, why would anyone trust this woman with his/her most important day when she has repeatedly cheated on her husband then brags about it to her potential customers?? No thank you Hem and Her...I will take my business somewhere not resembling the looney bin. A sad side note: her assistant Brittany is a very talented and sane young designer. Too bad she is being lead by a phyco...she is quite memorable, but not in a good way. Don't even waste your time going in there (unless you need a goodd laugh) as she has no intregrity or mental stability to offer you.

I bought a Pronovias gown when I was living in LA last year, then I moved to Tucson and I was having a hard time finding someone to do "outside alterations" with my gown. I found Hem and Her online and saw that they sold Pronovias so I decided to call there, they agreed to take my "outside alteration". I went in and I thought things were a little 'off' with Joyce after she said they no longer did outside alterations and gave me a long drawn out speech about supporting local businesses and not going online. Being a native Tucsonan I ALWAYS support local businesses so I told her what had happened and she very reluctantly agreed to fix my dress. My Mother ended up buying her dress there too (unfortunately...read on). A few weeks later we come in and Joyce cuts the bottom of my dress (while I am wearing it!) and works on a pinning things here and there. Then another bride and her fiancee come in and they are looking for a specific dress, which Joyce does NOT have so she starts calling other businesses to see if they carry it. As the bride is getting ready to leave she says they are going to continue looking out of state in California. So I tell her that if she goes to California there is a store in Pasadena that I think may sell the dress she is looking for. Joyce proceeds to FLIP OUT! She starts crying and screaming at me about how I lost her a sale. Her husband comes out and tells me that, "the costumer is NOT always right in their store". In the middle of all of this Joyce is working on my Mother's dress and starts screaming that she is going to "throw it in the garbage" and that she doesn't know why she does this for people that are so ungrateful. I repeatedly apologized to no avail. She thought I lost her a sale but they didn't carry the dress the woman wanted anyway. After getting berated by her and her husband I walked out. Unfortunately, my Mom had already paid for her dress to get fixed with them and so she had to wait over and hour for Joyce to calm down and talk to her. The worst is that when my Mom went to go pick up her dress the zipper came off of it and it was sewed all wrong! She had to go back twice for it and it still looks "not right". After two zippers my Mom put her dress on, on the wedding day and the zipper broke again! In tears we had to find my Mom a dress at a department store on the day of my wedding!! Talk about stress!!! I checked the better business bureau and they have had several complaints about similar things in the last few years. I went to a different LOCAL Tucson store and not only did they do an amazing job but it was $100 cheaper and most importantly it was DRAMA free! This place is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE on all accounts!!

Find another place to do business. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this place.
My first 2 fittings went well as we tried different ideas. At my third fitting (of six quoted) I was so horribly treated by Joyce (seamstress/owner) that I couldn't stop crying and snot was literally running down my face as I stood there clutching my half-finished dress. Joyce tried to make me feel bad for not liking the ideas she suggested - stating that if I still wanted input in the design then she refused to help with the design. She made me feel as I had over stayed my welcome and tried to make me feel guilty for wanting to have a "say so" in how the dress was to end up.
She criticized my ideas, saying " It was such an awful idea you suggested the last time you were here that I had to WALK RIGHT OUT OF THIS ROOM".
In the end the dress was not released to us until we payed in full (500$) and the dress was not even completed. When we tried to talk to the manager (Marv) about it he was immediately on the offensive, saying that customer service was "out the door ten years ago" and that all they had to do was complete the job. Again, I left the store in tears.
I was so traumatized at this point that I never wanted to go back into their place. I sent a friend in to get my file (which they originally said I could have). They were extremely rude to her, and refused to give her my file unless I came in to get the file myself. I walked in shaking and upset and asked for the file and he walked over to the file cabinet and slammed it shut and said that I would have to contact his attorney, but then said he didn't have to give me the name or number of said attorney, adding that even if I tried anything, he went to court over things like this all the time, so "good luck."
Easily the worst experience as a customer I have ever had.

Pros: Brittany - her assistant

Cons: rude owners

.

My fiancee took my mother's wedding dress to Hem & Her for altering.
By the time the dress was half-way finished, she refused to go back, as she had been treated so rudely by the seamstress with whom she had been working.
I went back to the store for her, to collect the dress and they refused to let me have it unless I paid the quoted price, despite the fact it was far from done.
When I voiced my frustration (after paying the full price, mind you), the very nice assistant said she understood (as she had been at my fiancee's last fitting) and that I could come back later in the day to talk with the owner.
Returning a few hours later, the man stopped me from speaking and immediately laid into my fiancee. She went back to the car, again in tears, and he then proceeded to accuse me of being unreasonable (remember, I had already paid full price), stating that they "deal with people like [me] all the time."
I said that I was really unhappy that I had to pay full price for a half-finished job, and he said then talk to my lawyer, but I warn you I've taken people to court over buttons they have lost from our rentals.
When I pointed out that I was neither raising MY voice, nor being rude to him, and only wanted to voice my discontent with the way my girlfriend was treated by the seamstress (who I later learned was his wife), he told me that he really didn't care, and that I would never have enough friends to tell about my experience to even put a dent in his business. So there you go... hope enough people read this posting.
Oh yeah, he did finally take on a friendlier tone when another customer finally walked into the store.

Pros: attractive building

Cons: mean, combative owner

My fiance went in with her wedding gown to talk about getting her dress altered for our wedding. Joyce was nice and gave her a quote on how much the cost would be(around $200) and immediately started working up a plan on what they wanted to do with it. After a few cuts here, and a few pins there, my fiance left with the dress and planned on making an appointment to come back and finish the process closer to the wedding date because maybe her size/weight may change in the months to come before the wedding.

She called today to make the follow up appointment, and was told that because she didn't purchase anything there, they did not want our business anymore because they are "too busy for stressful work".
Not only did they work on the dress and then refuse to complete the work, but Joyce's husband talked down to my fiance and and hung up on her.
I went in there to try and work things out, but the husband (short man) asked me to go and talk in the back because there were customers in the front. I figured out why he wanted to talk in private very quickly... Joyce started putting her finger in my face and yelling about how people "always do this to them!". They told me that people waste their time all the time and never come back. I told them the whole reason she called was to finish what they started and to pay them when the final work was done at the quoted price. She was yelling, his chest was puffing out, and the whole atmosphere in there was combative.

I only write this review to warn consumers about this business that finished work 1/4 of the way, and then said they didn't want our business anymore because we weren't buying anything from them(i.e. dresses, tux rentals, etc) buyer beware. I told him it was bad business, and he replied, "you don't know anything about this business"

If they hate their work so much, and are annoyed with their customers, they should try doing something else.

I had an online disaster with my bridesmaids dresses (the dresses weren't coming). I called and spoke to Brittany and emailed her a couple photos of what the dresses looked like. She printed up several items similar to the one I sent and in the same color. We ordered the dresses and they were here in 4 days! Everywhere else in Tucson was giving me a 6-8wk arrival time. I tell everyone about this place!!! My wedding is in 2wks and I cant wait!!! My Girls look good!
