Although the estimate was *twice* the amount of other bids, I elected to go with a Mayflower Transit broker because of Mayflower's reputation for customer service. What a mistake. Meridian Moving Systems did not honor the terms of our contract. In fact, they did not even schedule my move by the drop deadline. My household goods arrived nearly two weeks after the contractual deadline. Meridian refused to offer delay compensation because my items "did not meet minimum weight requirements." I had to contact the CEOs of Mayflower and Unigroup to get any results; my household goods were finally scheduled to ship *after* I contacted the parent company. Imagine living five weeks without a bed or furniture! Of course, the household goods arrived damaged (shock!). Despite paying for insurance, Meridian denied my insurance claim because I refused to store the damaged goods for 30 days to wait for inspection, even though the delivery driver and his assistant witnessed the damage. Upon my complaint, Meridian offered me the opportunity for mediation ... for $300! (They claimed mediation was free but it was just another lie.) Horrible experience. Atrocious customer service. Not only will I never use Meridian Moving Systems again, I will never use Mayflower Transit nor United Van Lines.
DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY. You will regret it.
