Total loss! Took my son's Honda 80 to Cycle Dynamics due to the high ratings on this site. Steve, the owner, told me that all the great reviews were because of his large family writing the reviews, I thought he was joking, maybe not. My son's bike was not shifting, Cycle Dynamics charged me for 3 hours of diagnositics and informed me that the shift fork was broke and available from Honda for $52.00. They also informed me that the bike needed to have the carb rebuilt. Total shop bill was $370.73 and included on the invoice was Clean Carb/Seal Vacuum leaks, replace carb manifold O ring, fuel needle valve. Picked up the bike Sept 22, was finally able to take the bike out this weekend. My son was riding the bike, stopped after about 15 minutes for a break, saw smoke starting to come from the engine, heard a hissing sound and the engine burst into flames. Bike is a total loss. I called Steve (shop owner) this morning to discuss what could have caused this. He offered me an $80 refund for the carb ... I called Steve (shop owner) this morning to discuss what could have caused this. He offered me an $80 refund for the carb work. I told him that the bike was a total loss - he then told me that it is possible that my son just torched the bike. That's when it got ugly - we went from finding a suitable compromise to the accusations of criminal activity. We will stop payment on the credit card and let the courts decide if Cycle Dynamics is liable for the bike. I'm not a mechanic, but I don't expect a carb to burst into flames after paying a mechanic to rebuild it. I'd recommend a different shop

Response from this business:

I would just like a chance to address the accusations posted in this review. 1. This XR80 is 30 years old and was in complete disrepair when it came in. We diagnosed and replaced the shift shaft and cleaned the carb out for a very reasonable price. The customer declined to fix the suspension which had no fluid in it front or rear. He was informed the bike was unsafe to ride in its current condition yet elected to put his son, a completely new rider on it anyway. 2. All it would take for fuel to leak is the bike to tip over, not uncommon for a new rider, especially one riding a bike with no suspension dampening at all. Fuel leaking onto the exhaust from a tip over can very possibly land on the exhaust and start a fire. Once I suggested this possiblity this gentleman got very belligerent and offered me all kinds of threats. In a gesture of good will we did offer to refund his money on the carb clean, which this gentleman chose to take as an admission of guilt. I do find many things in this review to either be exxaggerations or completely untrue and am saddened to have gotten my 1st bad review after so many years in the valley.

Steve did a great job on the service and repair. My 06 Ninja feels like it did when I bought it. I'm still blown away by how smooth its operating. Id say it feels "better than new". These guys are the real deal! This was my first visit there and I wont think of going anywhere else.

Response from this business:

Thanks for the review Dan.

I've taken my motorcycle here several times for various reasons and annual oil changes and these guys are great. Obviously being so close to my home is a plus, but they do a wonderful job. I'll say, if you aren't already an expert on your own bike's repair and maintenance, Steve will certainly make sure you are before you leave his shop. Very helpful when starting out to get to know your bike. Great place!

I had an electrical problem that I could not find. Steve, the owner, was able to track it down and fix it. They didn't charge me an arm or a leg and the turn around time was fast.

Pros: Very helpful and knowledgeable

Steve and staff are not just there for a job...they are motorcycle enthusiasts as well. I had brought them my motorcycle and dirt bike and their knowledge is outstanding. They are easy to work with and a breath of fresh air in this economy. Their maintenance and service were right on point! Being one turn off the 101 makes them an easy place to get there from anywhere in the Phoenix valley.

Pros: Service and knowledge
