I have lived in the Phoenix area for 6 years and I heard that Bridal Couture had designer wedding dresses, and referred my friend to the store. As you have read from other reviews, it was a bad experience. I went with my friend when she went to try on wedding dresses at Bridal Couture. My friend went ahead and put a deposit down on a designer dress in Oct. '05 and told the store that her wedding was in June of '06 (she later changed her date to Oct. 06). The dress was ordered and they told my friend that it would take 6 months for the dress to be made. In March my friend started calling to find out where the dress was, and the store repeatly told her for three months that the dress should be there any day. By June (which is when the store thought her wedding was) the dress was still no where to be found. Her family has a family friend who is a lawyer and they got him involved to put pressure on the store to give her the dress (by this time she had already paid in full for the dress). She finally got the dress in July. I went with her to get the dress, and that is when I knew this place was a disaster. Her dress was there, but it was stored by throwing a $3500+ dress over a door. The bag they had it in was for a business suit and not a ball gown wedding dress. The dress was a crumpled mess, and they told her she would be charged more if she had them steam out the wrinkles. There was a small tear in the dress and a small stain on the dress. The dressing room they had her try on the dress in was disgusting and dirty. I bought my wedding dress at Neiman Marcus and it was a completely different experience. My dress was in a huge bag, pressed for when I saw it the first time (regardless that we had to make alterations), and the room I tried it on in was only for actual wedding dresses, not the samples you try on (and absolutely no food, drink, or shoes were allowed). This may look like a coutour store, but I would NEVER recommend you buy a dress from this store.

Pros: none

Cons: bad customer service

.

This store needs to be out of business. They have horrible customer service, and high prices. They ruined my fun and exciting wedding planning experience. Instead I was stressed, would get a stomach ache anytime anyone asked me about my wedding dress. My dress was ordered in Nov 06 (paid in full in Aug 06); I was promised my dress in Oct 07; and I just barely received my dress March 1,08 4 weeks before my wedding. I had to pick my dress up from a lawyers office; that should say enough. Every time I called no would help me or knew anything, when I went in to the store they would tell me they would call me back with information. My fiance finally got tired of me stressing and crying; he got in contact with the dress designer manufacturer. The dress manufacturers involvement is the only reason I have my dress today. I beg all brides to stay away from that store and to spread the word. I read all the bad reviews too late.

They are such scammers! They told me if I paid a deposit to them I could lock in a sale price and if I changed my mind I could still use the deposit toward another dress. Well, I changed my mind and tried to use the deposit toward another dress (a bridesmaid dress) and they told me I had to use it toward another wedding gown even though it didn't say that in the contract! When I told them I wanted to buy my bm dresses from them they said they didn't know that for sure and wouldn't reimburse me the money and that's not their problem that I signed off on something that wasn't clear enough! Then they told me over the phone that they price match (I found the same dress across town for $700 cheaper) and then when I went in there they said that they never told me that!!! Really, are they serious? I told them that the manager/owner told me that and she said no he wouldn't have said (so pretty much I was lying) Still to this day I never received my deposit back and they are so awful! They also don't take credit cards anymore because you can dispute the charges with your cc company and they lose out!

BUYER BEWARE DO NOT SHOP HERE AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL!!!

PLEASE GIRLS! Take advice from all of the reviews. I agree 150% with everything said here. Careful...they say they dont know the designer. When you try to get a model number or some sort of serial number, they say that their numbers are different. Too weird. It's funny, the dress I bought was 2 sizes bigger than the store sample yet it fit the exact same way. Fishy.

I was unable to post full review - as the 2000 character limit error kept popping up:

Buyer Beware. I was sold a brand new designer dress - and given a dress that was not new, soiled, had all tags removed that was atleast 1 size too large. I disputed with Visa and won. For full review and specific information see my review on insiderpages web site titled "buyer beware".

Pros: Beautiful selection of unusual designer gowns

Cons: Deceptive business practices

I can't believe they opened up a store under a new name but same owners. They will rob you blind. Just look at Channel 3's Gary Harper review(Bride was out $4,000 due to owners), AZ Central's articles, The Wedding Chronicle's Articles.. Don't get your dress from them or you will be sorry. They are thieves.

I ordered my wedding gown, veil and Headpiece over 9 months in advance. They said that it would take 6 months. When six month came and they had not called myself and my wedding planner began calling them and asking about my dress. A very rude person would always promise to check on it and call us back and we never received a single call back!! It was unbelieveable I had to call off the wedding. Three days before my wedding they called to ask me to pick up my dress and come to a veil show. Can you imagine? As if they had no record of when my wedding was supposed to be or that i had ordered and paid for the entire cost of a hand made veil!! This company should be out of business. I would never shop here again if they were the only wedding store in town. I wish that i had seen all there other bad reviews before buying my dress here. They have yet to refund my money either.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!! This is the most horrible experience I've ever gone through with a retailer. It is beyond my comprehension as to why they are still in business. When I told them they have bad reviews they told me that the reviews are left by their competition - yeah right! Not only did we encounter people outside their shop that warned us not to go there, we read all of these bad reviews and complaints only after ordering our dressing and encountering problems with the store, their staff and their shady "business practices". My sister's wedding is in October, they ordered the wrong bridesmaid's dresses and then never contacted us. After repeated attempts to contact them we finally went to pick up our dresses only to see a nightmare alternative that they tried to force us to buy. Turns out, our choice, that is still on display in the store, is a discontinued dress. After my sister's fiance got involved they finally agreed to refund the money for the deposits on the bridesmaid dresses, but it is almost a week past when the money was supposed to arrive and guess what? No response from these shady shop owners. They now have their front doors locked with a sign that says, "Must have appt. due to security reasons". Um, try to "Due to legal reasons". It's hard to imagine, since ALL other bridal stores seem to be able to keep their doors unlocked during business hours, why this one can't. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP. They take labels off of the dresses because they mark them up. We found my sister's dress on the internet after she picked it up, along with her tiara, only to find that they had been way marked up, like almost double the price of the wedding dress. They switch their style numbers around so people can't find the merchandise. Now I am in the nightmare process of trying to get my daugher's flower girl dress that I ordered. I have even called Jim Hjelm's offices in New York to try to resolve this. HORRIBLE! Don't be fooled!!!

I have been looking for a wedding dress the last few months (in AZ and FL), as my wedding is not until 2/08. This store was by far the worst experiece I have ever had. I have never had a salesperson tell me they don't know who the designer is. This store rips out all the designer label tags in the dresses. I thought to myself, who would ever spend thousands of dollars on something and not even know who makes it. How do you know it's not a "knock off" ? How will I be able to learn if they mark their prices up 100%? What if I just want to go home and stare at it online for hours, like most brides want to? These are all things the consumer is entitled to learn and do. I understand that stores have to protect themeselves the best way possible from people "shopping" their gowns around. However, this store had something to hide, as they were not willing to give up any information. If you are fair and honest, people will buy from you. These folks will pray on people who just don't know better or who get pushed into the pressure of a sale.

My salesperson was Jane, and she seemed nice enought, at first. When I sort of "insisted" on knowing who makes the dress, she actaully rambled/mumbled off soemthing that I couldn't even make sense out of. I asked if I could take a picture of the dress, as I was alone and have no one here in PHX except my fiance. She actaully told me if I wanted to put a good faith deposit down, then they would allow a photo. I can also say, from having gone to a few stores, the way they throw you in these dresses, and put the clamps on, they really aren't giving you the personal service one should get. Its all about the sale at this place.

Lastly, this whole manager thing seems fishy too. She was going to give me a discount, after she spoke to the manager. It took her probably 5-10 minutes to come back and tell me the manager was gone. I'm guessing she had a smoke break.

Pros: None - On the outside it looks like a great store, but looks are deceiving

Cons: Customer Service, Sales Person Product Knowledge, Negotiation...pretty much everything that comes with buying a dress

All of the reviews of this terrible place are true. I had an awful experience there in January when I went to look for my wedding dress. The salesperson kept disappearing and returning stinking of cigarette smoke then touching the gowns! I found the dress I wanted and when I asked who the designer was I was fobbed off with a story about "all that information" being kept on a computer in an office upstairs which was currently locked. We left feeling uneasy and went to other bridal stores. Every single one we went to, when we told them the story about Bridal Couture, told us to look them up on the bureau website. Wow am I glad I did. Anyone thinking of doing business with this shockingly corrupt store should look at that website if the previous reviews are not proof enough. I called them numerous times after that to try to get the name of the designer and every time they gave me another story. Eventually I went to the store and asked them and told them that there would be no chance of my buying my gown from them unless I knew the name of the designer(there was no way in hell I was going to buy it from them but I wanted the name). They went in back and whispered for a while and came back with some made-up name of "a little-known designer from New York". That designer obviously does not exist. The story does have a happy ending though, I was lucky enough to find a remarkable store named Destiny's Bride (in Scottsdale) where a fabulous salesperson named Sara helped me find the gown over the course of a few days and then ordered it in for me. It should be noted that the designer was completely different from who Bridal Couture had told me and the dress was actually $200 cheaper than they were selling it for. Your wedding dress is too important to risk shopping at this store-keep clear.

If you want to feel like you don't matter drop by Bridal Couture........I did, and boy am I sorry!!

I ordered my dress the beginning of December. They assured me the dress would arrive with at least 3 weeks prior to my wedding with sufficient time for alterations.

At the end of February I called to identify an anticipated time of arrival of my dress. The person I spoke to did not know when it would arrive, but stated that she would call and find out. But, she never did. I called back trying to find out information about my dress, but nobody had any idea when the dress was anticipated to arrive. Believe it or not this lasted 6 weeks where nobody had clue about anything and I had to call and follow up! At one point Suzanne stated that the dress was shipped in March. I was promised my dress at the latest the end of March. On April 2, nobody at Bridal Couture could tell me an exact time of arrival and by April 7 I was forced to buy a new dress since my wedding was 2 weeks away. Multiple times I asked to speak to the owner. However, I was told that "he does not speak to brides, and we handle the issues". WELL I HAVE NEWS FOR YOU OWNER JOHN MEDONIA-----YOUR STAFF DO NOT HANDLE THE ISSUES AND THEY STINK!!!!

I ordered a dress for myself for my daughter's wedding 4 1/2 months before the wedding. One month before the wedding I called and spoke with Jane who said not to worry. Another week went by and I called again. She said she'd call immediately and call me back in a few minutes. The next day she left a message on my machine saying she called the dress company and they were closed so she left a message. I called another 3 times or so and never got calls back. I finally went into Bridal Couture personally and had Jane call the company. She said the dress would be in in 9 days. I then got a call my dress was in. I went to get it.... and they ordered the wrong dress. She called the manufacturer and after about 30 minutes told me that the dress I picked out was labeled wrong, so they could do nothing about it. She tried to get me to buy the dress that was sent. I left extremely upset with 2 weeks to find a dress for the wedding. In the meantime, I called and asked for my $1500 deposit back or a check. They wouldn't give me a check and when I asked them to refund it on my credit card, THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO DO REFUNDS! I was told to call talk the owner, John. I tried calling, and he just never called back. I am now going through my credit card company to get the $1500 I put down for a deposit for an item I never got.

In addition.......I had brought my daughter's wedding dress there to be altered (before I knew all of this). They took it in but it wasn't correct and I had to fight with them several more times to get it done correctly. Got dress back the day before the wedding..

Extremely upsetting.....terrible salespeople.....no integrity.....sloppy alterations in an effort to get it done fast. DO NOT TRUST these people. No call backs. They act so nice when you are trying on something, and they are cold and totally could care less about you or your problems. This was the worst experience I've ever had at any store ever!!!!

The other reviews are right on, with the exception of Suzanne being the only decent person there. She must have taken lessons from the others as she is now not only rude but insulting. This place pressures you into the sale, sends you the wrong size and then tries to force you into accepting whatever they give you. It is a complete rip off. They will lie and drag things out so far that you have no chance of ordering another dress in time. Avoid this place at all costs, they will keep your money and ruin your wedding. Check the bureau (I wish I had before I shopped here), they have had 24 complaints filed in the past 36 months (I will be adding one more).

DO NOT BUY YOUR DRESS HERE! They are total scam artists. The dress I ordered for my wedding never arrived and I had to buy one at the last second from a sample sale. I had to contact my credit card company to get them to reverse the $5000 charge they put on my card for the deposit. These people should be in jail.

I had to contact my credit card company to get them to reverse the $5000 charge they put on my card for the deposit. These people should be in jail.

.

I was in the beginnings of purchasing a bridal gown. All of us out there know that when it comes to bridal gowns, all sales are final. I haven't yet purchased my gown. I put a deposit on the gown to hold a "special" price that Suzanne was giving me... All the while, making it very clear that the dress COULD NOT be ordered until I paid half. I agreed and signed to that. Unknowingly without my concent, they ordered my dress before half was paid. The refuse to give me any of my money back, even being that this is not a finalized sale, and they did not even hold up on their end of the contract... which did not state anything about deposits and how they were non-refundable. Now I'm completely screwed. I can't pay for the remainder of my dress. I'm about to be out 1,000$, and all they have to say is that they're doing ME a favor by taking the loss in the dress that I no longer can afford, or want after this ordeal. Personally, I will never go there again. I would not reccommend a single person that works there as they are all extremely rude and unwilling to work with any of their customers. They will take you for a fool.

Cons: Pricey

My experience with this place was awful! My dresses were WAAAY to big for my brides maids (4 sizes too big and THEY even recommended the sizes) and when I called to try and figure out the problem, all I got was an attitude. The phone call ended by the salesperson hanging up on me! The sales people there are extremely rude and ignorant. If you do any business with them, only deal with Suzanne because she is the only decent person there. Otherwise, the other ladies are mean.

I went to Bridal Couture with my Mom and soon to be MotherIL to find my wedding dress. The woman who was helping me was very pushy and not very knowledgeable of the dresses. While trying on dresses she never put the dress on me correctly and pushed me in and out of the dressing room. She then asked me which one I wanted, like that was my only time I could choose. I found the dress and loved it. At that time I was told that my dress would be sent away to be cleaned and would be called when it was in the store. In 2 months I wasn't called back. From that point I had called the store 3 times until finally speaking to someone who told me that my dress was to only be steamed and not cleaned and was in the store the whole time.
