i am a former employee of american home maintenance, allowing me to see this companys business antics. the only good warranty would be the maytag warranty, because maytag will deal with a customer directly. something most people dont know is that trane unit are only the best when opperated on by a highly certified tech. american home maintenance hires ANYONE off the street (more commonly prison released convicts) with only 3 day ride alongs with other non certified tech. the reason for this, is because american home maintenance looks for SALES PEOPLE not techs. the company thinks as long as your unit is broken then business is good otherwise called "job sercurity" it is also known among ALL EMPLOYEES that once a person/ customer purchase the ten year trane warranty that the ONLY other sales oppertunity is plumbing(discontinued) making them the lowest priority in the company only to make room for a new customer with new problem that COST money...... i personal know the owner jordy tessler is a penny pinching crook that will fire anywhere from 10 to a whole department to pay for something along the lines of either a new car or new custom tires costing in the range of 7,000 dollars while telling the rest of his employees to be thankful they have a job. i quit this job because on MANY occasions i was paid to lie to the customer while leaving them with no air because there was no money oppertunity to be gain. THE BIGGEST COMPANY IS NOT ALWAY THE BEST... NEVER FORGET; "A FOOL AND THIER MONEY ARE SOON PARTED.

I loved this company as American Home Maintenance, but have had nothing but frusrtation and VERY HIGH costs for materials since the change to Orangutan. Like the filters. Orangutan sells them for twice what you can get them on the internet. Even after paying overnite shipping I saved $10.00.
I to had issue trying to get the APS rebate, never did it accomplished so lost out on it. Wish I'd thought of filing my on incomplete report like the other man said.
Would really like to see the "service" in coustomer service come back to this company. Unfortunetly, I have a multiyear contract with them so can't leave them yet.

I purchased a new air conditioner in July from this company. The sales and service people were very nice and helpful and I was told I would be eligible for an APS rebate. At first I was told they would leave paperwork with me, but the person who did the install knew nothing about it. I called orangutan and was told that they would submit it for me. So on 8/17 I spoke to Janelle to follow up and she said it was never submitted but she would be happy to process it for me. I gave her my info and thought I was done. By late October I called because I never received it and they said it was never filed. Spoke to someone named Shawn who guaranteed me he would get it filed for me and it would take 6 to 8 weeks. So I waited and called back in Dec (2 weeks ago). Now they transferred me to Charmaine who is in charge of this. She said she would look into and call me back. She never called me back. I'm so frustrated now that I called APS and they said no rebate was ever submitted for me. I only have 6 months to submit and my time is almost up. So I submitted an incomplete form and they said they will contact Orangutan Home services for the rest of the info. I waited a week and called APS today and they said no one has gotten back to them still. So I called Orangutan again and they again promised to have Charmain call me. I really don't understand why they won't help me with this. I purchased an additional warranty through them on my unit as well and am now really worried because of their lack of customer service. I would think twice before using this company.

Call Orangutan home service, formely American Home Maintence for a routine service inspection. AC unit check out ok but service man kept insisting on giving his sales pitch on all the add ons including a service agreement that is so out of price. Call some other company or be ready for the sales pitch.

Previously American Home Maintenance, now Orangutan Home Services-- I was once very pleased with this company and have bought 3 air conditioners from them but I will never use them again. My air conditioner went out on June 27th. A repairman came out on the 28th and left after about 20 minutes saying that he could not get anyone on the phone and he was not going to waste his time on hold. He said he would be back later. I assumed he would come back later that same day. I called twice on the 29th and was told some one would call me back. On the 30th I was told that it appears that a part was ordered and someone would get back to me later. I called 3 times on Friday, the 1st, and never got any call back. I again called 3 times on the 5th and was told someone would be in touch with me but never got a single call. Many more calls were made by me on the 6th, 7th and 8th. Never once was my call returned until I got a call late on the 8th that a part came in and someone would be here to fix the AC on the next day. I stayed at home all day Saturday, the 9th and called twice to confirm that my AC was to be repaired today and was told someone would be here to fix it around noon. It is now 4pm and after waiting all day, no one has yet to showed up. I have been with out AC for 12 days now (in July!) and in all that time I have had only one phone call from the company in spite of me trying to reach them every day. I have purchased almost $50,000 in air conditioners from this company in the past 8 years and this is how they treat me. I regret ever giving this company even a dime of my money. They used to be a very good company but something has happened to them. I am truly disgusted and mad at how they have treated me.
P.S. I was very happy with Shawn DeVriese who came for an AC inspection about 4 months ago. He is one of their few great employees. It was clear that he was the first one to really clean the coils and inspect the units even though the company sent out workers to do this twice a year.

I had a tech out to my house last week and was very pleased with the service. He explained everything to me and had the unit working in about an hour or so. He did try to sell me a maintenance package but I told him I could not afford to at this time. He left the information and was very nice and said if I would like to add the plan in future to please call him as a he makes a little money off the deal. I understand that everyone is trying to make an extra buck these days but it was nice that he was honest about it.

Signed a three year contract back in 07' for maintenance on my trane air conditioner. The service was ok back then (American Home Maintenance)
The company is now called Orangutan home services. The last service on my old contract came up in 2010. I was told I had a bad dual cap, my system was working fine at the time. The cost of the dual cap was $489.00 I went ahead and had the guy replace it. Tom L, is his name. He told me since I was spending that kind of money I should sign up for a contract. I could sign up for a three year since the part was more expensive. I ended up signing up for a 5 year contract @ $699.00
Later my A/C failed during a hot of the summer, I was told it was the dual cap, so they came out and replaced it no charge. 2 months later another part failed I had to fork out $173.95 for a starter cap... I had a regularly scheduled tune up / system check come up in march 11' I'm told my inside coils are badly corroded.. He wrote on the service recommendation "Unit Replacement". Since I paid these jokers over the years to maintain my system, and I paid good money to have this thing properly maintained and serviced does it need replacement!! To add insult to injury the guy proceeded to try to get me write a check for 6K & have the thing replaced right away.. telling me that copper prices & electrical equipment prices are only going up.. I can't believe overall lack of consideration this company is just looking to line their pockets with your money.. then tell you later on that your system is shot... I regret ever signing any contract with this company.. don't do business with this outfit...!!!

Also known as Orangutan Home Services. This is a bait and switch operation. They advertise a low cost AC system checkup only to get in your door. No actual maintenance is performed, only a system evaluation to try to sell you WAY overpriced products and services. All businesses need to make a profit but the markup on parts is obscene and their business tactics are unethical at best

Bait and switch artists. they offer low prices for checkup (no actual cleaning, lubrication etc. is done) and then have a laundry list of corrective action items. They will then "do you a favor" and sell you a 3 year service contract and then perform the repairs. I will not do business with anyone who operates like this and neither should you.

Bait and switch. They offer low prices for AC checkup and then try to upsell you on everything. The checkup includes nothing except an opportunity to sell you parts and service contracts. The unit is opened up for the inspection but they will not clean the coils while there. That is an extra call (and charge). Parts and services are way too expensive so they try to roll you into a 3 year service agreement instead. They remind me of the low rate carpet cleaners that just want to get in the door and then upsell away. I will never do business with them again.

Stay away from this company as they do poor work, they don't stand behind the products they sell you, they overcharge, they never follow up with you, and they will try to sell you stuff you don't need. If a guy named Louie ever comes to your front door, run.....hide your money and run. We have had them install numerous things over the years, reverse asmosis, hot water heater pump, and a Zeta Rod which is supposed to provide soft water.....the Zeta Rod never worked and when I called to have them remove it so we could ship it back to the company as defective, they wanted $350 to take it out and another $150 to re-install it.....really?

I hired them in October 2009 to install a new system in my home. As of yet almost a year later and after numerous calls the system is not fully installed, and does not heat the house or cool the house properly. One tech understood with the problem was but they never sent him out to do the work and each and every time some one came out we ended up with a new problem. still one room is not connected at all as agreed on the contract house does not cool down. and they have not been returning any calls, they even sold and made profit out of my old unit and each time someone comes out they keep trying to talk me into having my swamp cooler removed. Now they are simply hanging up. they charged my card the full amount and have yet to complete. i have called the install mgr , customer service mgr. supposedly they are the top rated and trane is suppsed to be the best. I am beyond disgusted with them. and now have sent a letter to the local news station, filed a complaint with BBB, and sent another complaint letter to a legal firm. I am sure I am not the only one out there they have done this too. My electric bill is more than it was with the old system. They are in breech of contract and have done nothing but make matters works. if there was a negative rating on this i would have given them -10.

Orangutan Home Services came to my home to do a minor repair and add freon to my air conditioning unit. When I asked what the charges were the tech gave me a blanket price. I asked for the services to be broken down and the tech stated per home office (Orangutan Services) this is how they charge customers and they just go by tiers. I was stuck so I had no choice. I then called the following business day then two days after with no call back. A voicemail was also left without a return call the next business day as their voicemail states. I keep getting told the Service Manager will call. I called again today and the receptionist knew me, stated she will again pass along to have the Service Manager call. Still no call. Seems like others in that Oragutan just charges whatever they want. I certainly hope the Service Manager calls me back so this can be resolved. If not then complaints will be logged with the BBB and Registar of Contractors.

I purchased a new air conditioner from AHM about 13 months ago and the compressor died. We contacted AHM and they sent a technician out. The initial invoice he gave us was for $1,379.00 to repair the unit this was to pay for the labor charges only since the compressor is still under manufacture warranty and we had purchased a maintenance program from them which covers refrigerant and a 20% discount on any labor charges. My wife asked the technician, why the cost was so high, but he basically said that was the cost and put her in touch with his service manager. The service manager said that the best he could do was give her a 20% discount since we purchased it from home depot. But since he felt sorry for her told her to just pay the $1103.20 and he will give us a 10 year warranty. Which to me just sounded like they made the price high to sell a 10 year warranty. I made several attempts to contact the service manager and he never once returned my calls. He did have his tech call me, and he basically said that $1100 was the national average. Which didn't answer my question on what it should cost. Since I wasn't asking what the national average was. After further discussion with the tech he said he would do it for $500.00 which he said was the actually labor cost. But it just seems like they pull numbers out of the air. If it was only $500.00 why do they give us an initial quote of $1379.00? In the end they ended up selling my wife a 900.00 10 year policy minus 60.00 for the one day they could not fix the unit and we had to sit in the heat. They also made this sound like a huge favor to us since the actually cost is suppose to be around $1099.00. Seems very shady, very unhappy with my experience.

Pros: Sales rep was good

Cons: everything else

I purchased a new air conditioner from AHM about 13 months ago and the compressor died. We contacted AHM and they sent a technician out. The initial invoice he gave us was for $1,379.00 to repair the unit this was to pay for the labor charges only since the compressor is still under manufacture warranty and we had purchased a maintenance program from them which covers refrigerant and a 20% discount on any labor charges. My wife asked the technician why the cost was so high, but he basically said that was the cost and put her in touch with his service manager. People just need to be aware. Not a very honest company

Pros: Original Sales guy was good. Straight forward

Cons: Everything else

We bought a new system from them in March. It stopped cooling like it should on Thursday 7/15/10. We were supposed to have the "priority" service contract, at least that's what the paperwork says. We left two messages and finally got a call back two hours later. Leo said the first appointment available was between 11am and 4pm on 7/16/10. We took it, I took off work and was at home by 11am. No service person, no phone call. I called and left another message...no return call. I should have canceled the purchase, when their engineer didn't call before the install. Live and learn. I cannot recommend them.

Tony & Jared were the best professional installers for our new Trane Ac. Well mannered and knew what they were doing.
A great company team who ranked to now be called Orangutan team members. Hope the company appreciates their good work. Neil & Charlene Donahue Surprise Arizona 2010

Sales person rated new A/C unit for our house - it is cool in summer and warm in winter. Very quiet except when heater is in defrost mode. This was explained prior to installation. There were some problems in getting the unit installed on our roof but were cleared within a few days. One of the problems seemed minor and acceptable to me, but the technicians worked until A/C was installed to their standards. It required installing a new platform. Technicians on subsequent visits made suggestions for add-on's but did not push or apply "scare tactics" to make extra sales. My advice to unhappy people "Don't continue shopping for anything AFTER you make a purchase"

Pros: Perfect performance since install almost 2 years ago.

My old unit was 13 years old and was on the verge of going out. I went to the Home Depot and set up an estimate. I ended up buying a deluxe 15 seer model. I was excited and maybe had too high of expectations. I was told I would get certain type of filter, my ceiling would be fixed (damaged from old unit), and an upgraded thermostat. They were quick to install +. However, they broke a piece out of my attic entrance and told no one. They brought the wrong filter. They brought the wrong thermostat. On top of that, the unit quit working three hours after it was installed. I tried to call someone but couldn't make contact. I finally made contact after a series of phone calls. They sent a tech out. He was a good man. He told me the unit was overwhelmed and pointed out several issues where the installers made mistakes. He got the unit running again. The second time someone came out, they brought the right filter and the right thermostat and discovered a pin hole leak the installers left in the tubing. I must say atleast they were honest. They fixed that and promised to bring the 2 years worth of filters. I still haven't seen these yet. The latest now is the thermostat is blank and my unit quit. Again I could not make contact with anyone, including the sales rep. I finally made contact through one of their operators and have someone on the way. So here I sit with sweat beading up on my forehead waiting for the service guy. Lets hope this is the last time for real. And I hope this is an isolated incident but by the looks of some of the other reviews. it isn't. Hope this helps. If I wouldn't recommend them to my mother, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone else.

Pros: Once you make contact, they try to be very helpful

Cons: Everything that could have gone wrong, did.

I was talked into a ac/heating system check by a guy at home depot. They offered me a good deal and since I had a problem with one of my units, I agreed to them checking it out.
So the tech comes and checks out the unit and tells me the transformer is blown and some relays are bad. Then he goes to his truck and looks up the part. They wanted $281 for the transformer alone. I told him No Thanks, I may be almost deaf, but I'm not stupid. I bought a transformer that is better than the one they offered me (higher rating) for $30, and actually I could have gotten one like they offered me for less than $15. I replaced the transformer and proceded to check out the relays, which were not bad. The unit works great now, and I will never ever use this company as long as I live.
It's not enough that they charge you $100+ per hour (tech wasn't there more than 15-20 minutes) they try to rip you off by getting you to pay 10 times the cost of the part. NO THANKS! They're crooks.

Pros: tech seemed to know a few things, although his diagnosis was partly wrong

Cons: incredible markup when it comes to price.

The entire process from salesman to install was great. A new Trane was installed. BUT when I applied for the APS electric rebate , APS denied it stating our new TRANE had an EER Rating of just 11.0 and 11.r is required. Our concern is more did we get an older model that didn't meet the standards plus we did not get the $300 rebate as promised in the bid.

To date AHM-Inc. has not been able to resolve this with APS or advise us we got an older Trane 19I. This is disappointing because our entire experience with AHM had been great and communicative. Waiting on call back that is not coming so far. If resolved with APS or discover this is an older TRANE we will update this recommendation or lack of one.

Very disappointed at this time about response from AHM but they did do a good job with installation and seemed above board.

Absolute worst service I have ever received from a contractor. I was sold a new Trane heat pump. It cost me $6600.00. I was told by the sales person that the unit was "whisper quiet". I asked, "It's really that quiet huh." He said, "It's so quiet that the technician has to lay his hand on it to see if it is running." This unit is much more noisey than the 25+ year old unit I had before. I actually have a hard time going to sleep at night sometimes. Their response: (if you can get them on the phone) was that the sales guy must have been talking about another model. I think not! I know what I was told.

The salesman also told me that my electric bill would decrease by about 50%. I got a notice from SRP that my bill is going to increase. Again I was told that the salesman must have been talking about another model. Seems he was describing one model and sold me a different one.

My install was done in April and during the install (new return in hallway) they destroyed a good portion of the drywall on my ceiling. The install guy said, "Don't worry, we'll send a guy to fix that and you'll never know it was damaged". Well, a guy did finally come out and do the repair. I can definitely tell it was repaired. The guy told my wife he would be back in a few days and paint it. It is Sept. 20th and it is still not painted.

There is much more to this story, no, really, it goes on and on, but I am running out of space and time. Bottom line is, if you use this company, in my opinion, you will be very disappointed!!. They lie to you and then try to make you out to be in the wrong and try to make you feel stupid.

Service after the sale is extremely poor. You are very lucky to get anyone to answer the phone. If you leave a message, you are lucky if they call you back.

I went through Home Depot to make this purchase. So much for "approved contractors".

Be very careful with these people. First of all they employ folks who are not honest. If they get you home or cell number they will keep calling it, even if it's on the DO NOT CALL list. They have NO scruples.

Don't get involved.

I thought it was questionable (home built in 2002) I requested part that came off of my system. I was told NO, I have to take your part with me for our inventory. "I cannot get a replacement part without turning in your part" sounds VERY QUESTIONABLE. I said your inventory has nothing to do with me. It is my part and I want it. Repairman would not replace the capacitor without being able to take the old one. Then had me sign a statement that I refused the replacement. Sounds to me like they are using used parts, or they do not trust their technicians. If it is the latter, then why should I trust them. By the way, the price quoted for the capacitor was 99.00. Checked on line was 25.00. One more thing, had service check by same company before by different tech and service was acceptable.
